i feel this song is about the dimensions of lonliness- the freedom it allows here is like 'paradise' where you can do and feel what you wish with no strings attached, but it can also feel like being 'stranded' when there is no one to ask you anything or care enough and the aloneness can cave in on you like that sometimes

I know the song is set in a romantic situation but the general (beautiful) message resonates with me regarding my family. I've tried so hard to "earn" their love through only being useful to them when it was beneficial to them to eventually choose myself and it's been freeing to not continue to cling on a ledge when there was no intention of them ever pulling me up. This exactly how I feel being so far away from my family. I live in a beautiful place and it literally feels like paradise but being so far away from everyone i know and not knowing anyone here feel like being stranded on island. This song resonated with me so much.

I know the song is set in a romantic situation but the general (beautiful) message resonates with me regarding my family. I've tried so hard to "earn" their love through only being useful to them when it was beneficial to them to eventually choose myself and it's been freeing to not continue to cling on a ledge when there was no intention of them ever pulling me up.
