Never tell a machine shop "I don't care how long it takes"... great videos..
Yes. Should there ever be slow week the time won’t be used for your parts as it’s probably ok to take a couple hours off every 8 years.
Ok no, 1 hour… and 10 years. Yes, this is ok.
So true! There is no way to have a win-win situation with busy shops. If you rush them, they'll be inclined to charge you more and do hasty work. If you do what Sreten did, they'll always postpone things and it often ends up being worse quality work because they start and pause multiple times or, even worse, they end up doing it last moment when the customer loses nerves. I know people get tired and need time to rest, but one should never accept work they know they won't be able to do in a reasonable amount of time or properly.
Depends really....if they are doing a good deal on the price can understand why he wouldn't want to get on their case. If however he is paying standard rates or a premium because they are BMW/Alpina parts then I think it is quite right to expect they are done in a reasonable time frame (two weeks quite realistic I think).
@@NaturalSisa I think so. Sreten gives them time to do a good job. But they can do other jobs. And when he loses his nerve, they will do that job in a couple of hours. With appropriate quality
Channels come and go for me. I get tired of "I bought a new super car today!!1!!!" every week. I never get tired of M539, it's always great content, I learn something, it's technical, it's always fun to watch. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this channel and your cars, really.
Hoovies Garage os great tho
Today I bought the cheapest blah blah whatever in the USA! Let me show you everything wrong with it! Watch me take it to Carmax for an appraisal! Etc, etc. It's fun for a while but when everyone is doing it it gets kind of old quick.

@@promerops ahhhh yes lovely to watch as well, I just can't stop watching m539 haha
Please, please Sreten, never change the way you speak, detail, joke, represent! I absolutely love your channel.
Thank you
28:00 with some plywood make a "box" fit the compressor in and glue silencing foam on the inside, and mount a little electrical fan to draw the heat from the "box"t.Then the noise is very acceptable. That is what I did.
Underrated comment
This. You won't believe what a difference a good "hush box" makes!
You don't wanna do that cause these compressors burn so much oil that you fill them up weekly if you use the thing often. You'll get a herniated disk from opening the box
@@peterjansen5571 You could probably build a little access flap in to the box
I am drooling like a dumbass at all the upcoming good stuff. Been using YT for 12, 13 years and never waited for new videos from someone with bated breath, or supported them on Patreon. You deserve it though, every single cent and thumbs up.
@MUSI⭕️ Please go away. 👹
You and me, man. Hell yeah.

Great video. So glad to see the E30 is alive and well. I bet you wouldn't have dreamt to be where you are today like only last year! Multiplied your workshop area by 6, upgraded your tools like crazy, a million ongoing thrilling projects, man you should be super proud of yourself! Thanks for the show!
When I saw that E30 crashed i said out loud "o kurwa!". Greets from Poland, love your videos. I've learned a lot from them, to work on my E34 and E38 :)
@@szponiasty lol, I live in the Netherlands and there are a lot of Polish workers here.. I noticed they use this word a lot lol 😂
Does anybody know why this comment is shown as 21 hours ago, but this video itself is only like 3 hours old? Does YT play tricks on me?

When Bosch K-Jetronic works properly it’s amazing seeing how old tech works so well even under cold conditions. But it makes me sad to think how many BMW/Mercedes/Audi/VW cars have been junked because their owners or mechanics don’t fully understand the fuel system :(
Because it's a shit system. See Honda Fuel Injection systems. These just don't fail and sold million times since the 80s.
The K or KE-Jetronic is very difficult to adjust. Nobody here around 300 km in my city can do it. The Bosch service know nothing about it in the past and now.
@@gokturk232 oh, please. Get a service manual.
You are completely right!👍
@@vw5056 Manuel can hold your hand only so much, the system is flawed. It's the exact opposite side of the spectrum where idiots decide what goes inside a car (what's happening now with BMW), where people who are too smart for their own good decide what's inside and that makes the car unusable for the vast majority of the user base. If a car component can't be serviced or fixed because of either of the two sides of the spectrum... it's shit. That's the long and short of it. There's a reason these engines got modded or ditched all over the world and it's not just because people can't flip Manuel's pages. For the record, i have a perfectly serviced engine, my car's just rusty to shit and back. So i know what i'm saying when i'm saying that this isn't for most people to enjoy. It's too complicated, too easily broken and it's entirely too easy to have wear drift take it out of commission.
Every time I see that upload notifications my heart stops and all my depression disappears thx for the motivation m539
And why are the notifications always 15 hours late im sure germany is one big time zone
"warm clothes, happy thoughts and I'm still freezing" boy oh boy can i relate to that one lol
I knew that you one day would expand back into your old space!
You are my favorite KZheadr.
"Coming up..." has become my favorite opening phrase on KZhead.
Something like a 5kw reverse cycle air conditioning unit would probably work nicely at keeping the dojo at a reasonable temperature. And wouldn't have a very big physical footprint to contend with either.
For example Toshiba RAS-2M18U2AVG-E and RAS-M22U2DVG-E (2units) keeps warm and cools in summer.
Great advice, it will give more heat for the same amount of electricity compared to the basic electric heater you have now. Also cools during the summer and if the landlord has some money to spare you can save money in the long run by combining it with solar panels.
Also called a warm air pump
Does it work properly when the temperature outside is that low? I heard they work well maybe above 5-8 Celsius
@@RminusOR Yep. They work pretty well at those temps. Efficiency drops a bit around -10 degrees Celcius.
Nothing like coming home from work to find out there is a new m539restorations video 👌🏼
As for me, I like the more talk, less work style video as well. Thank you for the update!
I always have a little smile when I hear the words "coming up..." and I know its going to be a good day
Glad to see you’re back and I hope your vacation was lovely!

Great updates! Love the progress with the shop. You’ve come along way.
Thank you for not scrapping or junking the E30. Looking forward to seeing what happens.
Love the channel and looking forward to the full restoration of project Castellon. I like the simplicity of the older stuff, how simple to remove that radiator!!
Congrats on the expansion!
Congratulations on your shop expansion, and I am happy you were able to have a vacation in there. Looking forward to the next video!
So cool the E30 will drive again and congratulations on the growing shop and channel, which means more happy viewing.
Welcome back and Happy New Year!! Hopefully good things for your BMW’s this year!

That Hydrogen combustion engine is so interesting! I fully understand tearing it apart and giving it a good home, but thats a piece of history right there.
Happy to see your optimistic spirit again, great video
Hell yeah new sreten! Can't wait to see all the projects "finished"
Great to see the progress with the garage and the project cars. In about a year the whole (garage)block is yours!
The gauge cluster on my E30 had the same sporadic action as your E21 has. I found that the solder joints on the back of the gauge cluster were broken and causing intermittent contact...2 minutes with a soldering iron to re-flow each connection and the cluster never acted up again!
Great update. You have lots of work ahead, lots of content to watch ,can't wait👍
Its amazing how much you have accomplished this past year! Keep up the amazing work. Always eager to see what is coming out of your garage.
Its the only channel where I watch every single video couple of times. Once I was travelling abroad and didn't had connection to internet. So what I did was dowloaded your videos thru KZhead premium and watched them offline. Thank you for your work!
Don’t sweat the “all talk” videos. I love em. You’ve got a really awesome thing going on and I don’t mind hearing all about it. Good on ya man. Keep up the awesome content

Another excellent episode. Dont change anything you do with regard to the production of these videos. First class and lots of hard work is clear to see. Thank you
Awesome video Sreten and Happy New Year! Great to see the E21 starting issue sorted - for the coolant temp gauge, I had the exact same issue on my E30. Not sure if they are the same but could be worth pulling the cluster to check the nut on the rear of the temp gauge is tight. I tightened mine and now the gauge never goes over halfway or flickers. Looking forward to more!
I’ll have to look into that. The temp gauge in my E21 has some erratic behavior once in a while.
When I saw that E30 crashed i said out loud "o kurwa!". Greets from Poland, love your videos. I've learned a lot from them, to work on my E34 and E38 :)
Love the channel! Totally hooked. I literally cheered when it started after 3 weeks in the cold. AWESOME!
I'm so happy for you that you have more space! Although there's never enough. Thanks for all the time spent making these videos.
Excellent video. For this being a one man show it must be extremely time consuming I can imagine to put these videos together from an editorial perspective. I'm amazed at your output, and that you never scrimp on quality. I just don't understand how you don't have more subs
Quality not often pays on yt. 😔

Can't wait for all the new content, always get inspired to do something to my car from these videos ( currently own a fiat :/ hopefully something better in the future after uni) Although I am also somehow constantly fixing something like you do, except its always on the same car hmm.... (just this week the reversing sensors died)
Nothing wrong with wrenching on fiat, it manages to surprise you every week :D
@@ivmilicevic Exactly man, it's a game of "Ooh what is this new light on the dashboard" haha
Here in Australia FIAT stands for either 'Fails In All Tests or Fix It Again Tony. But I've had a few and they are really fun cars.....
On the e21 I suspect the heat gauge being faulty. I have come across that twice already but haven't tried any repairs to know what would work. On clogged injectors I have had excellent results using a tire valve over the intake of the injector with a little hole in the valve cap to fit the straw from a can of carburettor cleaner. Remove the schrader valve from the tire valve and apply some power to the injector with some little jump wires and a small battery while spraying the carburetor cleaner. Again I have had great success.
I've owned around 12 e21 over the years, including maybe 7 or 8 323i and nearly all had temp gauges that showed just past the midway point as normal temperature in summer and winter months.
Very much enjoyed your update happy to hear that you now have the whole place to yourself now and its looking great well organized 👍👌😁
Thanks for the update and glad to see car wasn't damaged that much. 😎🙏✌
Probably a bit late now as you've got a new one but the CSV (Cold Start Valve) does have a habit of becoming clogged when not used for long periods. They can be cleared by putting them in an ultra sonic bath and activating it via a 12V supply. This breaks up the old, stale fuel that has sat inside it for years. My Capri 2.8 has the K Jet system and this is what I found with mine. I took my CSV to a guy who cleans injectors and seemingly the fuel turns to a sort of varnish like substance over time if left causing the injector to block up. Dont throw your old one away as you may be able to salvage it and keep it as a spare, always handy when new ones are unavailable. Great content though, keep up the good work and happy new year 🙂
Thought that too. Does that thing also sit upside down?
@@gplusgplus2286, no. It sits on its side on the side of the intake plenum chamber.
Great video as usual. Have you consider to install a air/air heating pump? Very efficient and with a low electricity usage
heating pump or air conditioning/inverter
Happy to see you working on e30.

Cannot wait to see more of that hydrogen powered V12..
*spits Mountain Dew all over his computer screens laughing out loud when Sreten screams like a girl. I love this guy he not only informative but entertaining. A bit envious about the E21. I've wanted one since I first saw them when it required traveling 30 miles one way just to get to a BMW dealer.
Love it, glad you are well and in good shape.
good to see that all is falling into place still looking after all this time man keep going
Hello, i love your videos. Enjoying every second. I'm just curious if u would ever think of owning or at least restoring a Mercedes Benz any time? They also do have some pretty cool, bulletproof cars tbh. And I think it would be a twist from the BMWs. Because you're now mostly expert with them and repairing a car with no prior experience with them would make good entertainment. Any ways, keep it up!
Are you gonna keep the M73 engine running on hydrogen? Would be pretty cool.
Definitely should. Seems a shame not to. Though I'm guessing obtaining the tanks and associated systems would be both very expensive and require a lot of research/book work.
That would be impossible sadly. Search on YT hydrogen E38 750 to see what BMW had to do to get it to work. As far as the engine goes, only intake manifolds are modified to take hydrogen. The rest is unchanged.
@@M539Restorations Ah ok, you should put the intake manifold up on the wall as an ornament then ;)
