It’s pretty crappy of him to confess his feelings when he has no intention of following through. He pumped that girl’s hopes up then left her hanging. The girl is going to think she did something wrong to scare him away, unless he tells her why he isn’t asking her out, which will ruin the friendship between her and the sister, defeating the whole purpose of him not asking her out. And it seems like a crappy thing for the sister to make herself an obstacle to happiness for two of her loved ones because she’s afraid things might be awkward if it doesn’t work out. I feel like when we're teens, we still have this fantasy of your first one being the last one and that's why it's scary, because our whole world revolved around our crush. I don't think the only reason why should you go for it I think it's better to socialize with them and keep feelings to yourself because it's likely they wont like you back that way

Kudos to all the success stories. Seeing the potential happiness and possible future materialize before their eyes is wonderful. I've never been so fortunate, and nearing 50, I expect my expiration date has long passed, but seeing young people embark on a possible emotionally rewarding future gives me faith in the human experience.

Meh, I'm at the stage when I'm slowly accepting that getting your crush/romantic feelings reciprocated is something that happens to other people, just not to me. I've had enough rejections to last me a lifetime.
