I grew up in Brooklyn and this was the sound of summer in l960's. My mother would wrap the change in plastic and I had a hard time removing it.

That's NOT the original sounding jingle. It actually was an alternate tone that just was super-preferred. Look up Mister Softee commericals from the late 1950s :)
