"Damp Chill of Life" Album Trailer: • NONE - Damp Chill of L...
***
Like clockwork, NONE returns this spring to destroy your seasonal optimism with their oppressively bleak atmosphere. Following 2018’s epic “Life Has Gone On Long Enough”, “Damp Chill Of Life” is NONE's third full-length chapter in their arrestingly reclusive legacy.
Weaving visionary soundscapes with depressive black metal, “Damp Chill Of Life” will gnaw at your bones like dying alone in an ice-bound wilderness. Haunting piano keys and retching voices flicker through harsh walls of instruments, ebbing and flowing through the lengthy tracks as NONE take their time to pick apart your psyche.
As with the NONE’s previous albums, “Damp Chill Of Life” will be released on April 11th.

  • Funny. I have waited for a period of my life where I finally decided to stop intentionally hurting myself, stop hating myself and hopefully little by little learning the process of loving myself to realize how much I need this kind of music. It really helps me remembering in an appeased way instead of pretending I forgot who I was. To anyone reading this, no matter what you've been through and what life tossed your way, you are fucking great, and I don't need to know you to know that. Also, thank you so much. This is a true masterpiece.

    • We are a few days later, and I felt the urge to come back to this album. Not like I usually do while doing something else, but with eyes closed and lying down for the whole duration. The title could not have been better chosen. I am amazed at the creativity deployed to embody emptiness and meaninglessness. And it feels so fucking healthy to feel those completely rather than hiding them under the carpet. If I had but one word to describe Damp Chill of Life, it would be cathartic.

    • @@reyluna361 It's interesting you're posting this now, I didn't listen to this album or even to DSBM for months and today I felt like I should be crying as I didn't for some time and have been feeling really weird last weeks and especially that day, I interrupted what I was doing, went alone in the wilderness for some kind of meditation tried and tried for 30 minutes to let it out and wondered what the hell as it would never come ... ... I ended up realizing I was just tired, but that I was overall feeling quite ... okay ? Not sad and desperate like I thought I was. Maybe that was what felt weird, I was getting so used with being overwhelmed, and even when I thought about what should make me sad or angry, I felt a very strange peace inside of me. And I felt a sudden burst of energy and carried on with my tasks. I just hope my soul doesn't go to hell, but to Valhalla, I mean, all of this has been quite a fight after all :) Thank you very much for your words, mate, and I do hope you are doing good as well. • After I've beaten depression, panic attacks and being bullied my entire life for being decent human being and a pussy not fighting for myself - I have found insurmountable levels of energy in doom and black and death metal. I love rock, pop, stoner, country, whatever music you have, but after 30 years I can say that only death brings me to life. The things that can kill us and show us the depths of loneliness, can be the peaks of mountains of our power.

We need both - good and bad in life, im starting to think that there are no bad stuff and good stuff that happens to us (even cancer, death and loss) those are just events - experiences, and it is our own power of mind, our own volition - how we view those experiences and how we let them shape us. Strong people aren't born, they are made. By living. By living through tough situations, and not letting those experiences getting them turn sour, resentful and negative. I hope everyone who reads those words can feel a little bit more empowerment to their resolves! :)

  • this is great. It is not depressing to me - it reflects perfectly the degenerate godless modern world we live in. Everything of true value is ruined. Modernity killed everything that made life worth living. I think this is the massage and I absolutely can relate.

    @les-chouans@les-chouans2 жыл бұрын
    • It’s always enlightening to see that the few of us that see the degeneracy of the modern world, often heralded as “progress” in the eyes of many, somehow find our way to this sort of music. I guess there’s just a certain predisposition towards melancholy, and this disposition coincides with seeing everything for what it is, which is inherently depressing. I will say, I’m not in agreement with the general consensus of metaphysical nihilism that many enjoyers of this sort of music generally subscribe to. As you say, the things that gave genuine meaning to life, the things that galvanized man to endure the burden of day to day existence, are being destroyed by the modernity. The very meaning to life is under complete onslaught by the forces of the modern world: industry, capitalism, materialism, atheism, democracy, the worship of the self and mediocrity, obsession with carnal passions and desires, everything that negates the Good, the True, and the Beautiful. Everything in our modern culture is a complete inversion of what is natural. It worships idols that are Evil, False, and Ugly. If you’re able to identify these things for what they are, you are naturally at odds with the vast majority of people because you necessarily question the philosophical presumptions that modernity rests on, suppositions that the common layman take as axiomatic without second thought. After all, the modern world is so corrupt and full of ugliness, loneliness, despair, that how can any sane man not question the philosophy that modernity rests on? This music is a reminder of my sanity. And I always find that the listeners of this sort of music are typically very thoughtful individuals, even if I don’t share the general nihilism that many here feel is true. I hope you read this, and that you’re doing well.

    • @@europason2293 thank you for your wonderful comment. "Everything in our modern culture is a complete inversion of what is natural. It worships idols that are Evil, False, and Ugly. " I think this music is trying to say exactly that. It reflects your statement. And you possibly can imagine when I tell you that I as a devout Christian(Not a nihilist - but a person living fully conscious in the truth of this modern materialist plastic world) absolutely agree with you. And yes I am fine and wish you the best, too. It is much better to see things for what they are than to live like an ignorant sheep.

  • I just have to say that this is absoloutly in my mind the best metal album of all time, so much gold is here, musicality, poetry, raw emotion coliding with numbness in a battle so large that a field of discordant guitar is left with their torn bodies and spilled bile. I love this, and whilst it reminds me of my darkest times, it lifts me to know something so beautiful can be made.

    • It could maybe be translated as "the climax of rapture". I think the word describes some kind of ecstatic state of enjoyment while listening to epic music, reading a poem or looking at a marvellous painting. An overwhelming feeling that can only be reached by consuming art. I hope a haven't talked bullshit. Even in German it's not easy to understand what exactly nietzsche meant.
