  • My first camera was a camera with film at age of 8, then, after about 10 years I’ve got a Fujifilm S4800, then Nikon D3200, then Nikon D780 and now Z9. 🌅

  • I worked for a company that hired freelance photographers in the 80s to do portraits in grocery stores. I quickly learned to make it a standardized process. I made a sample book which was a binder of 11x14 images in sample poses with props and outfits. I also carried several jackets and scarves and other props for them to pose with to recreate the images in the binder. I always more than doubled everyone else's sales. Being dressed to match was always a huge seller. Matching hats and ties and scarves. Also bringing dark clothing to help formalize the images were two of my best tricks. One last trick. Hairspray is your friend. Thanks for a great video.

    • This is a great tip Manila! Learning how to photograph has less to do with camera and more with posing, lighting and environment. I love your idea about the 11x14 binder with poses. Brilliant!

    • @@TouchLifeStudio we show 11x14 because we try to get them to buy the larger sheets our printer charges us by the sheet size. Our best profit is the 11x14. We dont do high end. We usually do mass portraits around christmas time.

  • My truck has 22 buttons on the steering wheel alone! Currently shooting the D300, D500, and the D850... remember George Jetson cartoon and his sore finger complaints for pushing buttons all the time? Looking at upgrading (I need the silent modes - yes, shooting live view gives me that but it EATS power despite how many batteries I carry...) Thank you for the EXCELLENT ADVICE!

  • All good advice. However, as professional photographer for over 30 years and having lived with the Z9 for a year or more now, my observation would be the following. If you have control of your lighting set up, then the Z9 is so good it is possible to get more than aceptable jpegs rather than resorting to shooting RAW. This means a lot less time sorting,and converting and, if you are a beginner it will certainly give you better results than you are able to achive trying to balance things yourself. And, if something goes wrong, well the jpeg out of camera can be imported into photoshop RAW and adjusted there.

    @andrewllewellyn1107@andrewllewellyn1107 Жыл бұрын
    • These are good points Andrew. I have been noticing that jpgs of the Z9 has slightly warm color tones, especially it is more noticeable on people of darker complexion. It’s still very very good, just with raw, you can dial just right. But you have great points.

      @TouchLifeStudio@TouchLifeStudio Жыл бұрын
    • @@TouchLifeStudio Completely agree about the warmer tones. Personally, I have one of the dedicated function buttons on the Z9 set so I can shoot single frames in RAW along with the jpeg if I feel the situation warrents it.

  • Where do I begin… is it maybe the first mistake to put a flash on top of your Z9 at all? Just use an appropriate remote trigger (all my goods triggers work just fine and are immediately recognised by the z9). Can we also discuss which photographer, who is ignorant about any of the things you said invests in a z9. Aaaand yes, of course compatibility is always an issue when you upgrade equipment… I just keep using my d850 for studio portraits anyhow. The z9 works fine, it’s actual strengths are when shooting outdoors and moving targets… I love it for that. This really is just a troll video, right? And I just bit completely stupidly? Any, I don’t have to keep watching it… 😂

    • plenty of reasons to still use an on camera speedlight. Run and gun events such as weddings, certain sports, wildlife, etc. Just because you can't see the need to, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

      @HilainLarkin@HilainLarkin Жыл бұрын
    • Totally agree. Putting a Flash on the Z9 is a big mistake especially a party at night…….Gone are the days when a Nikon flash gun would send out an AF assist beam and you would focus in a nano second. Nikon have stopped making flashguns so you end up buying a Profoto thinking that will work………..it doesn’t! So on location with a trigger and some lights it’s fine. Put the flash on the top and it’s dark….forget it.

  • Good video, but I disagree about the iPhone having only 3 buttons. The phone operates through a touch screen and when you open the camera app there are a ton of buttons. Many of them are essentially useless such as Live Photos and Cinematic. There are many times when I open the app to take a photograph and the camera is in video mode. It would be nice if there were a way to have the camera app show only a shutter button and nothing else.

    • Great advices on this video specially the part about flash and composition.

      @felm.974@felm.974 Жыл бұрын
    • @@waynerm002 I see, I mean, you can only do that if you make larger bodies, remove buttons or add an external screen. My preference would be to make big improvements to tge tethering feature, let's see what they do.

      @felm.974@felm.974 Жыл бұрын
    • @@felm.974 Fel, you know me, I’m thinking from the video side. If camera makers retool their bodies, they could do it. I understand the larger screen would most likely put a hit on the battery, especially if it’s an HDR type, with high brightness. With that big bezel and large border on Nikon screens, that takes up a lot of space, if they do like the phone manufacturers, they could slim down the bezels and push the screen border it to the edge, allowing for a larger viewing area. If the removed some of the back buttons, they would also have more space. Playback and delete function could be accessed from the screen, the directional pad for the menu could go and all menu items be accessed from the screen as well. Matter of fact, move all the hard buttons to screen access except for the AF On, move the AF point selector higher up, on the same plane as the AF On button. The Camera/Movie switch can go on the top dial, that frees up a bit more space for screen real estate. It would be a new way of working but, we would get used to it.

      @waynerm002@waynerm002 Жыл бұрын
    • @@waynerm002 I see what you mean, yeah, that's a good point, you don't really need to find buttons with your fingers as much as when you take photos so removing those tactile buttons and adding them to a screen like phone manufacturers have done, makes a lot of sense actually 💯💯💯💯

      @felm.974@felm.974 Жыл бұрын
  • Each of the *problems* you describe are not Z9 problems. They are the *photographers* issues.... This is just another YT photographer that has no idea on what he is doing. why in the world are you triggering your key with your ad200? OMG this is basic flash 101. Buy proper equipment, educate yourself, and then maybe start doing videos....

    @tobynabors7198@tobynabors71983 ай бұрын
    • My friend, one can always get latest and greatest gear(easy, just cost more) but majority of photographers or let’s say at least enthusiast are looking to use the gear they had for a while. Triggering key light with AD200 delivers the same results. Photography is about capturing light with tools one has. Thank you for your comment.
