Ross Coulthart investigates UK's UFO Phenomenon

Ross Coulthart, in one of his first UFO/UAP investigations for 7NEWS Australia, looked into sightings from the UK. Nick Pope was cleared to read Britain's most closely held state secrets. The former employee of the Ministry of Defence was pulled aside to investigate the threat to British national security posed by UFOs. What Nick Pope found in those secret files was intriguing, but one incident left him questioning for the first time whether the truth really is out there. The turning point was the 1993 Cosford incident and the Rendlesham incident. Ross speaks with Nick Pope, witness Darren Perks, Colonel Charles Halt, former RAAF Commander Alan Turner, and Professor Chris French. This story originally aired on Sunday Night in 2009.

And they're only interviewing witnesses who say it was UFOs, there were probably loads of other people in the vicinity who say there was nothing there.

  • Myself and my colleague were working a night shift in North Devon in March of 1993 - both Police Officers for Devon and Cornwall Police. We both saw this craft flying slowly over Combe Martin, which is situated on the north coast of Devon on the Bristol Channel. We still talk about it today. It was moving slowly through a valley, triangular in appearance with a strange glowing light or energy source shining at the rear - which is depicted on the film. We watched it for around 10 seconds before I sped up the hill to get ahead of it in order to get a better look, but it had gone by the time I reached a clearing. I recall authorities confirming days later that it was not part of any military tests. I remember looking to my right whilst driving along in the early hours and suddenly seeing this huge thing and saying to my colleague “ What is that ?” Will never forget it.

    • I was living in the Swansea area around then and remember that 'Flap' as it was called. It was a very interesting time and your sighting is a far more intriguing case than Rendlesham Forest...which has been thoroughly and rightfully debunked. Personally, I suspect that the Americans were testing their secret prototype aircraft without permission, running roughshod over the governments of the UK and Belgium, as the top brass of the American services really did seem to believe they owned the world at the time, having beaten the Russians. They have an aircraft that we still haven't seen, over 30 years later - the Aurora, which I suspect has sub-orbital capability. There is also the F-35 of course, which is a very strange aircraft to see flying.

    • Agreed. Think about the other species that have senses beyond ours like infrared, ultraviolet, sonar, etc…perception, so we “see” and “hear” only to the human limits we’re able to. I don’t think our senses and feelings can be quantified because we are only able to think like human beings think, which limits us. Our understanding of physics stops at what we’re capable of conceptualizing.

    • Interesting stuff and I believe you, completely. In March of 1994 during a big wave here in Michigan (US) I came around a curve on a freeway and there was a gigantic, silent, triangular UFO sitting about 100-foot above the freeway. I'm 72 and I have never been that scared before nor since. It was acutally just barely to the right of the southbound lanes, where I was driving, I was eventually little more than a stone's throw from this giganctic thing and it was scary as hell. It was 5 AM and the morning rush had started, a bit, and I was the only car even slowing down - no one had pulled over, no other cars were slowing down.....it was as if other people could not see the thing. And the lights on the thing were blinding - three white lights on the tips, and, a pulsating red light on the bottom (lighting up a grove of trees). When I got to work there was one young couple who worked where I worked and they were all flipped out, like me - they had seen it. But there is some very weird stuff going on in this world, for sure. Completely irrelevent but my ancestors were coal miners in Wales. Anyway, I dunno who was driving that triangle but I hope they're friendly.

  • The Llyn Peninsula in North Wales has been a ufo hotspot, to be precisely the Eifl mountain range. Only us farmers from there talk about it. Never been documented and we've seen lots of ufos and landed craft on the hills by our farm, well on my friend's farmland about 500 yards or less from our farm. He's seen a few ufos around here too and on his land. For me it started in the winter of 1979 . I was 12 years old with my dad , a craft at night say 8pm kept in front of us driving home along back lanes to our farm. It knew where we lived! It took short cuts as we meandered along twisty back lanes and was waiting for us to catch up, then started off again in front of us until we reached our farm, then it just vanished! Next takes us to 2009. Then 2012, September. Oh, yes 2003.... 2012 was a very active year. Independent witnesses each and every time I saw a ufo craft, so I'm not imagining things!! It's been hidden away how we feel about our encounters, we as farmers are so pissed off at being quiet in our own community. We saw them, too closely actually for my liking, we have nightmares, not happy walking the hills and mountain range at night . It's a very uncomfortable feeling. We feel as we are being watched , that feeling and it's very strong feeling too. They land in the same two places every time . Seen indententions in the heather for one thing.

We know what we seen and the police should of reported them to the Air Force. Who knows that were properly being tracked by them. Around 40 minutes later this big grey chopper was flying low around the spot the one landed. I just want answers. A large triangular craft a couple of hundred feet above me with two lights moved really slowly and quietly. It took about 30 seconds to pass over me. I remember two lights but cannot remember what colour now. It was, what others have stated on the comments, about the size of a football field. Thought for many years it was a stealth but it hovered over me leaving me in shadow on a bright sunny morning for what felt like minutes. I was fascinated. No markings I don’t think. I recently heard stealths don’t hover, and now I just watched this about the wave travelling up the west. I was right in the path of it. I didn’t hear anything while gardening. It just went darker and cold over me as it blocked the sun. Stayed a short while hovering quite still and slowly glided off for about 100 yards and the basically shot off at such speed it was gone in seconds. Not a sound the whole time.

  • Hell, I was fairly skeptical of UFO stuff until a big wave here in Michigan in 1994. On March 18th, 1994 I came around a curve on a freeway (about 5 AM) and there was a gigatic, silent triangular UFO about 100-foot above an interstate freeway (where I was driving). It was like waking up in a Sci-fi movie - had three, brilliant white lights on each corner and a pulsating red light on the bottom. I could have damned near hit the thing with a rock. The bottom had a really weird pattern that looked like the old video game "Tetris". I'm 72 and I don't think I have ever been that scared before nor since. There were other witnesses. 25-years later I went to the local library and found a big article from back then, on microfilm, that had been in our newspaper on March 15th. A young guy had seen the same thing, but much higher, flying over our city. Very weird stuff happened the morning I saw this thing - but people, generally, wouldn't believe it and don't wanna hear it. I know this: I don't think these things are man made, as some people wanna believe. They're from elsewhere. I just hope their intentions are good - who knows? I wish I had the luxury of being skeptical, now.

    • They are not here to harm us I don't think, they would have done us in ages ago. In my opinion they are our creaters and they are continuing with their hybridization programme to create a higher being of themselves. It's exciting at what is happening and initial skeptics who turn believers is great as it gives a stronger voice to all the people around the world who just want answers. We need to know the truth.

    • @@PeterStone-ch9dw I generally tell people, if they kinda believe me and seem frightened, that they probably would have eaten us alive a long time ago if that was their intention. I didn't tell everything that happened, here. Two female co-workers got to work an hour late kinda dazed and confused. After a few days they recovered some memories - very, very weird memories. Anyway, these "others" are definitely doing some jerking around with our DNA, I think. But, as freaky as that sounds, they may have been doing it for thousands of years. I look at how we conduct ourselves on this planet and I don't worry much - it's not as if some alien race is gonna destroy this "paradise". That all of this is true will eventually come out - the sooner the better, I think.

I am hoping that I see newspaper reports of other sightings of this weird thing.

    • @@PeterStone-ch9dw I have more corroborating evidence than most people I see on KZhead and elsewhere. I have an audio clip of my co-worker's submission to MUFON, newspaper clippings which attest to these things being seen in our town a few days before (although no specific reference to my sighting) - I have a bunch of stuff. Starting in 2017 I made a series of KZhead videos (no ads - I just had the channel to upload pet and remodeling videos, etc.). I have other witnesses - more MUFON reports, etc. In Part 1 of that series I show the newspaper clippings. Some kid on the east side of our town reported a huge, triangular UFO floating over Flint on the 10th. I didn't see that article until 20+ years after this happened - found it on microfilm at the library. So, in my case, I do have some things that support my story (to some extent). I can say this: it happened. Good luck - hope you find some things which help support your experience.

  • The giant black triangle is legit. I saw one first hand about seven or eight years ago. I’m not one to jump to conclusions as to who was behind the controls because I simply don’t know so I’m not claiming it was extraterrestrial. Though, it was something like I’ve never seen before. It was about as big as maybe football field. It flew over my house at an absolute crawl, I could only see one bright, white light at the front of it and it was one hundred percent silent. By the time it came over us, it was only a few hundred feet above the trees. I thought at first that the military must’ve cooked up something new but found nothing on it when I looked into it. Some people claim that it’s a secret aircraft made by the US government but that doesn’t really make total sense. Why would they fly a secret aircraft so close to civilian houses if they wanted to keep it a secret? If they’ve had a breakthrough in technology, why would a giant, black, flying triangle be the first thing they build? And shouldn’t the lights on it still be in compliance with the FAA? So many questions. So little answers.

    • The exact same thing happened to me after visiting my son in Oulton Broad near Lowestoft. I left around 10pm and as I walked down the drive way to my car parked on the road it was completely silent which was very unusual as there’s always traffic up and down that road day and night. Not only that it felt like static electricity in the air and something made me look up and in total disbelief there was this giant craft as big as a football pitch very slowly and silently gliding over the roof tops at about 50 feet if that. It was black triangular in shape with red orange and green lights on the outside as I stood watching in awe of this thing. Gorleston Road has a slight incline and as the craft went over the crest of the hill I lost sight of it before getting in my car and pinching myself to make sure it was all real. I thought about ringing the police to report it but didn’t bother as (a)they wouldn’t have believed me and (b) they would probably have taken a month to respond. I don’t care what anyone else says or thinks because I saw it and it will live with me forever. It posed no threat just moved across the chimney tops at no mote than 5 miles an hour and in total silence and apart from the static in the air I would probably have never noticed it.

Aliens are visiting Earth and somehow manage to never get spotted on cameras, despite eyewitnesses seeing them regularly and them flying slowly over people's houses, or that some people lie sometimes? You can get 40 witnesses to swear they've seen ghosts, and have audio recordings too, but there's no good reason not to have video footage, so the lack of it is all the proof you need that they're mistaken or lying.

I was on Indiana highway 446 close to the Hoosier national Forest sign heading back from fishing at Lake Monroe. The craft when I saw it was traveling from west to east. At first I thought it was a helicopter searching for someone in the forest and it came into view and I tried to realize what I was looking at in amazement. It was huge about the size of half a football field and the light it was putting off was light lights of the city as I drove under it. The lights on it were in the corners and center were crisp white with a blue hue. It had red and green navigation lights and strobe lights and a spot light close to the center. It was painted gray with the access panels highlighted lighter gray. The panels were like the ones on the new stealth bomber design. It also had nose cones in the corners. The sides were rolled and not sharp like an air cutting edge. The way it moved in the sky was like it slid over the treetops and it didn't shake a leaf on the trees. It moved steadily with a slight rotation northward without changing direction. I believe it was built by Northrop Grumman facilities... Most of the sights I have heard of are in direct pathways of their facilities and it resembled it's design aspects as other crafts that they built.

She came within 15 minutes and said she saw a strange aircraft overhead with bright red lights disappear within seconds of her arrival.. We actually called the police to see if there was a search of some kind going on , they told her that fortunately it was a quiet night. This night has haunted me for many years. He also described it as moving very slowly and being massive and triangular. As I listened, I assumed it must be the fabled US Aurora. Cottered is not very far from the civil airport at Stansted. I thought it would be unlikely to be flying over Cottered if they were not aware. I still do assume it was US military, despite their public denials. I just searched for the incident on Google and there was a Daily Mail article where it was described as disk shaped, but I distinctly remember 'triangular' because at the time I went straight to to the Aurora connection.

  • I love the surgical cherry-picking that skeptics employ, such as ignoring the number o people who have a independently witnessed something strange , that many of them may be highly trained in the very area of how the eye can be tricked (an thus now when they are being fooled vs. not); the fact that radars have picked up these things AT THE SAME TIME, that traces have been found on the ground, that odors have been detected and/or people have experienced burns and such. Some of these sightings have all this phenomenal data, only to have the dedicated skeptic to just cherry pick that someONE claims they saw something, and they leave it at that, throwing away all of the far more important supporting testimony and evidence.

    @RSEFX@RSEFXАй бұрын
    • I agree, they are highly trained, especially in observation. I think what a lot of the skeptiks don’t realise is that people who’ve been in the military for a long time, had all their imagination drilled and beaten out of them in their first few years. Plus, reports are very much “just the facts”, because they have no room or time for opinions.

  • An exactly similar triangle was seen in Belgium and North of France sometime between 1993 and 1995. I was young but the incident was actually reported in the National news (TF1) at the time and everyone was perplexed. I don't think there ever was an explanation given for the event. Exactly that, a large triangle with lights under each corner and a larger light in the center of the triangle

  • I was living at RAF wittering at that time and we had a large ufo go over the base. Actually that night I noticed a bright light at my window during the night, woke up but dismissed it as car lights and went back to sleep. I had a dream that night that I was on board a craft with some Nordic human looking guy in a blue type space suit. The next day people all over the base are talking about a large ufo that was over the base and the police dogs apparently going nuts barking at this thing. Only later in life I figured a could have been abducted that night. True story.

  • I lived really near Cosford and remember really bright lights shining into my bedroom during that incident. I thought I heard helicopters also, but could have been mistaken. It 'felt' very different and weird, even though I was used to seeing military a/c.
