The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The 2021 US Open saw Russia's Daniil Medvedev and Great Britain's Emma Raducanu claim the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first major title, with 18-year-old Raducanu becoming the first-ever qualifier to achieve the feat. Medvedev to all his opponents when this guy took the set: All that for a drop of blood
Another legendary run by a quallifier this tourney.. way to go Botic. MVP for taking a set off of the Octopus monster
VDZ did an amazing us open run ! Only one to take a set away from medvedev
Van De Zandschulp is such a calm player equipped with top skills; he will win a grand slam one day.
crazy how this guy was the only person who took a set from daniil this tournament. great run from him.
Botics strokes and movement are so smooth and easy on the eyes, and so calm, so composed and especially no grunt! Flawless oncourt demeanor. Botic, you have a new big fan!
Except for the second set, this was the most dificult match for Medvedev. Respect for Botic, the onlyone who take a set over Medvedev
Mats Wilander: "Van de Zandschlupp!!" :-)
This guy took the only set off medvedev in this tour nament better then djoko 😂😌
Nole was at 1,46%. If he had been at at least 30%, he would have won.
Applying your logic I would say Van de Zandschulp was well below 1,46 % in this match . He was exhausted after few gruelling fivesetters opposite to Djokovic who should be fresh as a daisy but he collapsed mentally instead. I hope Wimbledon 2021 was his last GS
@@eroy66 also as an qualifier, he played three more matches ofcource. But he still looked ‘fresh’ and would be able to play an fifth set.
@@tennisgenius4850 please give more excuses. Please. Medvedev dominated. He never gave Djokovic a chance to get back.
@@tennisgenius4850 Medeved was in better form than Djoko. I don't know how you guys don't realise that Medvedev is no joke... Before the final I gave Medvedev 60% of win, he seemed to be playing better than Nole. His baseline game is the best in the business currently...
Daniil the Best
Botic is amazing. Fantastic set. I also wish there was a live-action version of Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" starring Daniil Medvedev as Raskolnikov and me as Sonya. :)
Great match from Medvedev!
Botic is so talented :)
Incredible match! Magic match from Medvedev!
Lord Botic, we are not worthy!
MEDVEDEV MASTER FUTUR
Botic played a sensational match.
This is great. Can we get an extended highlights on Botic vs Schwartzman?
Medvedev’s lowest ranked opponent in this tournament was also the only one to take a set off him
Why do they say his name like Van De Zand Schloop? It’s said like it’s written
То ли везло с ударами голландцу, но сыграл классно, почему ни до, ни после этого матча не показывает ничего стоящего?
Two questions: 1) When the tennis court is half in daylight and half in shadow, as it is here, do players have trouble seeing the ball "on the dark side?" 2) Botic ended the match with a delicate drop shot into the net...(???) I'm a n00b. Was this an error or a concession?
I think that Medvedev in one of his interviews stated that this half-shadow court had compromised his serve game at least. Perhaps, his only lost set is from this. Imagine seeing a ball off 'dark' return at the very last moment. or a dropshot!
1) the shadow can make a small differenct, but visibility in the shade is a lot better in real life than on camera. Also, the sun in your eyes can be troublesome if a high ball passes in front of the sun. 2) definitely not a concession, he had had more success with his dropshots in the 3rd and 4th sets.
To answer your 1st question there can be difficulties seeing the ball in both sun and shadow, this is the reason why there is a change of ends after every 2 games of a set. So each player gets a chance to serve once on each side which means even if there is difficulty seeing the ball both players have the same level of difficulty. One cannot take advantage over the other using these conditions
Either the Dutchman was lucky with the blows, but played great, why does he show nothing worthwhile either before or after this match?
*The shadow ruined the game like Medvedev and Opelka said. Probably noon is not the best time to match.*
Zandschlup? …..Zandschulp!
👍🏻
Medvedev level not for journey of winning more slams...kindly noted..he is Just seasonal player..in currently tennis...
Second?!
Thought I was the first 😹
