The WORST Train in AFRICA!

2021 ж. 10 Нау.
274 247 Рет қаралды

I was in the region of Kigoma and head to get back to Dar Es Salaam so I had two options...book a very expensive flight or get the train. So of course I took the train however it turned out to be one of the worst journeys of my life. I left Kigoma several hours late due to delays and then arrived in Dodoma 27 hours later

  • In Tanzania the old trains are super messed up...To be honest most Tanzanians prefer to travel with Bus and Aeroplane.... But good news is now We are building SGR (STANDARD GAUGE RAILWAY ) WHICH the first phase is almost in completion..( will be from Dar to Morogoro) Second phase will be from Morogoro to Dodoma So far state of the art railway station in Dar is almost 90% done ...I think you have saw it So we are looking forward 1 year from now ...Our railway system will be as good as never before... Currently the railway we use are the meter gauge railway which are small and the railway lines are super old some build by the colonialist .. So you can see ..... A lot of work is needed railway system... Luckily the government is closely working on it .... Nice video.. Hakuna matata Thanks for sharing your experience. Upendo Na Amani kwa watu wote.

  • I had a bus tour experience from Dar es Salaam to Mwanza back in 2014. It took 18 hrs starting from 4am until 11:50pm. I only took some biscuit and water during that trip and worst thing is the hotel doesn't have any food since it was late. When i decided to get back to Dar i was lucky to find out there's flight operated by fastjet from Mwanza to Dar and it was not expensive (300k tanzanian shilling, which was 150usd at that moment). Anyway the trip worth a lot, Lake Vi was quite beautiful, i even travelled on that Vessel from Mwanza to Bukoba. The views of the Lake was unique and amazing.

  • Your trip reminds me of the train trip I took from Yagoon to Mandalay in Myanmar. What a night mare I had the compartment to myself but hardly slept the whole night. I had to lay down all the way because the bouncing of the carriage was so bad it started to hurt my back. The train stop in the middle of the night so the engineer could walk the tracks in front to the train to ensure it was safe for the train to travel over the next section of tracks. It was a blessing when the trip was finished in 14 hours and I arrived safely.

  • There are two types of trains The one you took and another train which is called "express", both are totally different in price, experince and confortability...i had the privilege of travelling on both... I would advce you try our express as well very clean and you will enjoy its also two days from kigoma to dar, the train you travelled with is old and the price tag tells it all.

I thought it was tough going until I saw your train ! You are probably aware that the BBC have a so-called 'Travel show ' . You put them to shame .

You're such a trooper for sleeping in that top bunk. Don't think I would have trusted myself to do that I would've rolled right off LOL. Also, you made a smart move to avoid the toilets I would've done the same. It must've felt like Paradise when you finally reached your hotel room. I really liked your video so I subscribed :). • Many people in the USA, Europe, Canada and other developed countries take so much for granted. God bless Africa. We are a beautiful country with lots of resources and potentials, but our attitude needs to change so that we can improve our standards of living. It starts with me, with you and each person doing what is right for our development. Definitely, good leadership, good governance is so crucial. Some countries are going in the right direction. Majority are still far behind.
