  • The problem with using these of a mill or lathe sometimes is that there’s no room at the end of the bore to get these in. So you have to disturb the set-up to take the measurements. So if you’re boring a hole, these may not be usable. For that, an internal mike would be a better choice. But if you have the room, these work very well.

  • The gauge is for measuring +/- If you let it swing past 6:00 you keep adding ie: if it spins past 6:00 and reaches 15 again then you are +40

  • Got the same one, thanks for the video. My question is, when i spun the handle out, the inner rod and spring came out. I've got it put back in where I think it should be but is the a breakdown anywhere of that spring/rod inside the handle? Thanks in advance.

  • Hate dial gauges....why? Pain to read, but doable. Not really an issue, however? I often deal with having to switch from Imperial/SAE to Metric. Often multiple times in the same application. 2 Engines I have lately worked on: 4G54 Astron (Mitsubishi) and Ford 4.0l SOHC Cologne...both use constant swapping of tolerances. Yeah, I could do both in one tool with conversion. But I hate having to have a calculator with me. Just more BS to deal with.

    • There's also the much rarer dual needle dial which read both metric and fractional at the same time
