  • It must be said, drums are a unique instrument in that if you see them near you, even as a non-drummer, the urge to play them is impossible to resist. Feel like this goes for most forms of percussion, too. In my view, they're the most "universal" instruments if that makes sense. Great vid lol.

    • What is a tuner pedal?

      @oneultro6457@oneultro64572 ай бұрын
    • @@oneultro6457A tuner pedal is a specific type of guitar pedal designed for the sole purpose of tuning and is, like all guitar pedals, connected between the instrument and the amp via its cable. Using a tuner pedal means that only your instrument will be picked up by the tuner, even if other instruments are being played in the room. Some are also extremely accurate, with the Peterson Strobe tuner pedals being accurate to within 0.1 cent. A number of people alternatively use a clip on tuner, which clamps to the headstock of the instrument, picking up the frequency of notes through the vibrations of your instrument. They are cheaper and more portable than a pedal but may pick up other instruments in a loud venue. The best clip on tuners will be accurate to +/- 1 cent (which is plenty accurate for most cases).

    @TAZEROXFORD@TAZEROXFORD Жыл бұрын
    • Also, lots of folk do one string with a tuner then tune the other strings off that one; probably a relic from when tuning forks were the norm, and because cheap headstock tuners seem to suck at certain notes, like low B. Either way when your drummer wants to be funny just start tuning with the amp turned to 11, that'll learn 'em.

  • If you want to experience something similar as a drummer, start playing an electronic kit with heaadphones on, and have someone just a few feet away open a chip bag, pour some chips onto a plate, curl the chip bag back up, and put the chip bag into a plastic shopping bag, and twist the shopping bag up a bunch of times to keep the chips fresh. It's like being accosted by a bunch of people with maraccas. Good Luck not getting annoyed or distracted.

  • I can relate to this...but then again I'm 58 years old. This was an actual issue when I was about the age of the guy in the video; these days most people just use a tuner, the very practical and inexpensive. Heck, Peterson Tuners make a great strobe tuner app for the iPhone; I think it's a whole $5.00. Then it doesn't matter how much noise the drummer makes between songs, but if he can't keep it in his pants between songs; it's probably best to find another drummer who can. NOTHING drives an audience away faster than a drummer noodling between songs.
