Hello, I believe the brass wall mirror that opened, wasn’t a hair brush, but a coat brush and shoe brush, which it hangs on the wall, usually for last minute brush of the suit. 💗💗
You’re absolutely right.
Yes, exactly.
Should have gotten the cello case and filled it with goodies.
Yep. I'm seeing them listed, on average, from $250 - $500
Yes & the fact that they are still all together is amazing!
I love that there are still pictures of Saint Bernard's carrying casks of brandy around their necks, I hope we never lose that urban legend 😂
Way, way back, the St Bernards really were sent out with casks of liquor by monks that lived in the mtns to rescue lost or distressed travelers
I was going to say it's not an urban legend but true! The brandy was really for "medicinal" reasons.@@karenkuhr5698
Not a legend! A real thing!
My eyes hurt from looking at all the wonderful places and things you saw, I didn’t blink at all. What wonderful experiences you are creating.
Laura, how are you the nicest, most genuine KZheadr ever? 😊 Hanging out in a market with you would be an enablers dream! This series was great fun
We're back in the U.S. now, but we spent 2 years in Belgium and 8 years in England, back when my husband was in the Army. I went to flea markets all over the Belgium, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and France. I MISS THOSE DAYS so much!
How amazing! Such great memories to have 😍
Brandy! They're St Bernhards, that's the joke. The brandy is for the people they rescue. Grab that Gouda pottery!!!
My Favorite Left Coast Girl is seeing the World!!! And we get to go with her🎉🎉🧡🧡
This is an especially fun one to share with you!!!
@@leftcoastrevivals we are headed to New Zealand in Feb. so I am finding thrift stores and flea markets to visit. Curious as to what I might find there!!
@@karenchasenvintage2029Nice good luck! I am leaving Belgium after 5 weeks here. My daughter lives here now.
The dogs actually have schnaps in the barrel, it was an old legend that the avalanche rescue dogs had them around their necks to give to the people they find to motivate them to get back home
I always heard the St. Bernard’s carried Brandy in the barrels for when they rescued someone.
@@mssmarty5146yes but it is just a myth and was not true, a fotografer as a joke put the barrel on the dog and that’s where it started but if it would have been for real like that the rescued people would have died even quicker because the alcohol would have dialated the blood vessels even more and they would have frozen to death even faster
At 26:15 you showed a “dude with an umbrella inside”. That’s originally a painting from the German artist Carl Spitzweg which is called Der arme Poet (The poor poet). It hangs in Munich and was created in 1839.
Now I understand why my friend's parents from Belgium were such delightful people! What a gorgeous place!
I live in France and bought the exact same lucite paper clip in a beautiful light green for 2 euros on a garage sale. I love it ❤ the beautiful wooden box Says « Souvenirs d’artillerie Anvers » and at the back the name was certainly Arthur Dupont (very common name) most likely a box he made to put his souvenirs from time spent at war or in the army. Soldier also used to make some in the trenches. But if made between 1900-1910 it is most likely made during his time during the army as WWI only started in 1914
Belgian draft horses are native. The great work horses. Most famous of the work horses.
Oh gosh. Having to walk away from such amazing pieces because of space would be killer. It’s like good stuff heaven!
It’s like candy land. So many goodies. Thank you for sharing.
My heart was pounding so hard 😂 I think I have a thrifting problem!
23:00 OMG the Treasure shaped jewelry boxes omgomg
OMG!!! You put me back in time. I was in Belgium in 1997 and loved every marketplace. That and the outside coffee places were my favorite things to do. I was happy in Belgium. I have gorgeous pictures in Brugge.
I love your videos, but this Belgium series was extra special! What an amazing trip.
Laura, what you know as Tramp Art is typical of early twentieth century handcrafts in Northern Europe. Chip carving, the notched layered wood. Crafts that were made in the winter when farm work was quiet.
Laura, If this doesn't convince you to fill a shipping container next time you go, I'll go with and help you fill it! I wanted to fill a container on my trip to Italy this fall- so many treasures I had to leave behind (my suitcases were packed though). I love your enthusiasm and awe, the beauty is mind-blowing!
Let’s do it!!! 😂🙌 seriously….
Me toooooo❤😂😂😂😂
Fav video, Laura! What do you have to pay when bringing things home to the U.S….. and at which border? I dum. @@leftcoastrevivals
@@Sanity_FaireYeah, maybe not only customs but also export permits for antiques
Youch! @@SabineThinkerbellum
This flea market had me going crazy!! So glad you got so many great things!
Laura! This series is so beautiful…and inspiring! Thx for sharing with us.
I Iove those paintings.
Wow, this was utterly amazing Laura. You and Sarah looked like you're having the time of your life. An ideal travel companion for you (when Jesse can't that is 😊). Your camera work is absolutely perfect, best videos on YT! ❤
Thank you so much! And we sure were ❤️ It was a really special trip to share with her!
What is the silver and blue stone necklace?
I watch a lot of KZhead videos on this subject but yours are the only ones my husband stops what he’s doing and watches😁 Your videos are so entertaining, we love them ❤
😄 Thank you!! ❤️
Your videos make my day. I can sit, relax, and escape. Thank you!
The Brass piece in 26:00 with the dude and umbrella and Books is from a Carl Spitzweg painting „the poor Poet“
The 'dude' lying on his bed with the umbrella above him is a copy of a painting by Carl Spitzweg called the Poor Poet.
I used to watch your vlogs years ago Laura and then lost you for a while. Recently found you again and really enjoy your adventures and the styling of your new home.❤ you were in Belgium ❤ happy to see you enjoying my country, wanna go thriving now!!!!
Glad you found me again! Belgium is a beautiful country! I’m really looking forward to going back and exploring more of it this fall ❤️
@@leftcoastrevivals what a great trip you're organizing! Wauw😍 yess bingewathing 🤣 Maybe their is a small chance in meeting each other when you come 🤭😇
The brushes are for a man’s personal servant, a valet to use. One to polish his shoes and one to brush lint and stuff off his suit. Saint Bernards are bred in Switzerland to rescue people in the alps. Their bodies and a flask of brandy to warm people that they search and find. Swiss and Austrians ski daily, even more so in the past for transportation
Shopping vicariously through our West Coast giiirl. She has shown me to shop/thrift “intentionally”. I hope that comes across as a huge compliment, which is my precise “intention”…see what I did there?! My goodness what a treat to watch this vid ♥️♥️♥️
WOW!!! So much beautiful stuff! I'd definitely use a folding rolling cart when shopping there. That tramp art box you got is incredible! I love it so much. Your videos are the best! I love that you share the gorgeous scenery and architecture. You can't see that in America. So much history in the old towns. It's just stunning. Thank you for sharing all this, Laura.
The flea market was so FANTASTIC!
Really great stuff! Beautiful old buildings and architecture. It’s fun to see the places I don’t know that much about (and at my age, I know I’ll never get to). You are really going to be the next “Rick Steves”flea market chick. With your own unique vibe and style! I am so happy for you to see how far you’ve come and where you’re going. Sky’s the limit!!! 🙏👍🥰
This is the biggest compliment ever!! My dream in life has always been to be the female Rick Steves of flea markets 😂😘 I really appreciate your encouragement! I’ve got some exciting trips planned for 2024 and I can’t wait to take you along with me ❤️
Fantastic Merry Christmas and Best wishes for 2024 ❤ If I remember correctly the dogs are Saint Bernards and they was used as rescue dogs and they carried Brandy to help revive people who needed rescuing , that’s what I was always told anyway 😁
Happy New Year! 🥳
@@leftcoastrevivalscheck my explanation of the dog art ❤
Loved the gold ashtrays they would go perfect in my living room. Also loved the gold framed painting with the houses.
The S-hook is a belt buckle. I saw it on a Mudlarking with Nicola White video.
Love the trench art vases had poppies… a symbol of remembrance. Thank you Laura, husband proposed in Bruges. I was so excited that night I couldn’t eat. We went back twenty years later in July 2023. I ate then!
26:04: the poor poet from Spitzweg.
Argghhhh! That scotty dog wooden box! I collect all things scotty. What a wonderful journey you took. Fabulous. I love your eye.
Great items for sale and even better scenery - thank you
Argh. I think I need to move to Bruges, or at least a place so I could get all the big heavy pieces😂 So fun! Thanks for taking us along!
I giggled at the 1970’s Tupperware canisters & cups. My mom had all of it!
I was born there and MUM used to have Tupperware parties in the 1960 i was born in 1948 and moved to England in 1980 SOUTH COAST
This was absolutely amazing. What an amazing market. Thanks so much for taking us along it was just the best🥰
I am in the process of planning a trip to Europe next summer and have Brugge and Amsterdam in mind. I was there over 25 yrs ago, but now that I have seen this video I will be doing a lot more research.
I gasped at all the Bitosi pottery ! 😍 I have a piece myself. I've had it for years, and until I started watching you, didn't know what it was. If I remember correctly it was given to me by a friend. Belgium is a beautiful country.
You just, continue to amaze me. I've loved watching you grow in so many ways.
Thank You! God Bless You!
The thing I wanted most of all was the amazing celtic color work sweater the vendor wore at 11:52.
Love trench art! I used my trench art collection as vases for my husband's retirement ceremony. He retired from the Army after 30 years of service so I thought TA vases were appropriate decor for a military retirement. Oh and dang it! You are ruining my New Years resolution. I swore I wasn't going to go flea marketing until I cleared out some of my treasures that don't have a home. Sigh...looks like a trip to Belgium is in my future.
Bruges is a beautiful, beautiful part of the world. My hubby & l spent a wonderful rainy/cold day enjoying every single second. The atmosphere was just as you see on your vid.MAGICAL ! We shall return 🙏♥️🐨🦘 Ps Thanks for your wonderful channel Laura.👏👏
Congratulations, your found lovely , treasures !
Hi Laura, all your videos have been so inspiring that I have started to thrift again in our new home in Spain. I had a vintage store in the UK and have always loved to thrift….thanks for helping me to get back into my passion and keep the videos coming. We plan a trip t9 Belgium, Denmark and Holland later this year in our camper to find more treasures….all the best from Almeria….x
Beautiful architecture, Enjoyed your flea market shopping
When I lived in Germany we went to flea markets every Saturday. So much fun. One year I was into pewter and the next into porcelon and English tins etc
How much fun, I wish I was there with ya'll. I love shopping for antiques and theifting!!!
The dogs are St Bernard s …rescue dogs in the mountains and carry a barrel of cognac around their necks
YAY!
I have a large pair of vases our dad made for my mum out of artillery shells from before 1938 when he was training in the British Army. I was only able to get to a couple of markets while in Paris and Strasbourg since I was not there on the big market days. I am definitely going back to Bruges and will make sure I am there on a market day. Love these videos.
I wanted all the bears I kept seeing glimpses of.
Heaven!
Min 5:00, two beautiful vases by "Strehla", East German Pottery, probably late 60s, early 70s. Nice! Strehla have some amazing varieties and decors and they don't have to hide from the classis West German Pottery ;)
The guy with the books and the umbrella is an interpretation of the painting "The Poor Poet" by Carl Spitzweg. When I was a child, lots of people had a print of it in their homes in Germany. This was often paired with a print of "The Attic".
What fun. Good fines. I love tramp art.
Love, Love, Love your traveling Videos ❤
Beautiful! Really enjoyed these videos!
So fun! If I can’t travel and buy fabulous treasures, at least iCan pretend with you. Thanks, Laura.💕😊
Such a wonderful video! Loved seeing all your finds.
In Piedmont, Italy, where I lived for a year, they had this flea market in the street one Sunday a month, each Sunday they had it in a different town. Amazing things from long ago with good prices. Love from Galicia, Spain.
So lovely! ❤❤❤
I have loved watching these Belgium vlogs
Thanks!
Beautiful place ❤❤🎉amazing stuff thank u for sharing
Omg the paintings were stunning
The pot at 7.35 was made by Henk Potters. He is a well known Dutch potter from the 70s amd 80s
Wow, what an amazing Flea market. OMG- I would love to shop at flea markets in Europe. So many treasures!!!
And the best part is it’s so many older items that never were imported to the US so I get to learn so much!
Beautiful scenery. So old world and absolutely enchanting!
What Amazing Vintage Finds, and Beautiful Scenery💜👍👍👍
Thank you so much for taking us along on this wonderful journey. ❤
What a beautiful story! Thx
Wow Belgium is now on my bucket list! Absolutely beautiful! Loved all your finds! ❤
Oh,sutch a Magic place.
Looks like so much fun!❤
The building are so amazing! Each one looks like a work of art! Can you even imagine living in a place like this every single day? Such a well perserved piece of history in each building! Thank you for always sharing the places many of would never see. Except through your eyes. ❤
Oh wow! What a wonderful market. Thank you for sharing.
Loved this video! I think I'll have to plan a trip to that flea market this year -- it looked wonderful!
what fun the finds unique as well quality materials
Awesome place!
YAY! I love Bruges! I have only been once but i LOVE it!
Loved this video, Laura. Hoping everything made it back in one piece. You found some beautiful treasures 😊
What wonderful things! 🥰🥰🥰❤️ 👍
I’m so glad you got so many amazing things, but it must’ve been so difficult to not be able to buy everything you wanted because of size/weight restrictions. Regardless, I absolutely loved going to the flea market with you two lovely girls. Thank you! 🥰
I have leaned to appreciate it in the moment and be grateful to learn the history on so many new things. To get the chance to see this beautiful world is so much more special than buying everything ☺️
Amazing things and what you can’t buy think of as a beautiful museum ❤️❤️❤️
It gets easier and easier to leave things behind the more I travel and thrift. It’s more about the experience of finding and learning ❤️
Beautiful, the streets were so clean.I think that was the most beautiful place so far.
Have to give you props for EDITING videos. You do a beautiful job and I am just learning from my video production brother :) It is a slow and purposeful thing........so just know that you make a lovely video. Have a great day! Love ya!
😘😘 Thank you so much! I’m always trying to step up my editing game! You’ll get there and you do a wonderful job!!! Definitely watch KZhead vlog tutorials. There’s some awesome ones out there. That’s how I learned everything I know about video editing!
Belgium is just beautiful!
Such a beautiful place what amazing finds all that vintage in one place is just beautiful ❤️😍 thanks for sharing these stunning places xxx😊
The artistry is perfection !
This was a wonderful shopping trip, the scenery and the cultures combined. I can't believe you picked up many finds❤
So fun. I wouldn’t know what to choose.
The dogs with the beer/wine are St Bernard’s and they carry brandy around their necks for when they rescue people in the cold I believe?
