  • After all this time playing this game (~800 hours into it), I was having a tough time making clean, tight corners. It was partially due to fear of hitting the wall or running out of bounds. It is past time for me to learn how to do this, especially now with the DLC out. Learning how to do vector gliding would help, too. Thank you for sharing these techniques with us. There aren't too many vids out there that go deep into detail or tell you the secrets of soft drifting.

  • I'm definitely guilty of wiggle drifting. I had no idea that neutral drifting was faster, and it kind of isn't that intuitive, either! Is it still faster even if you can build a higher tier MT while holding the more steep angles into your drift? That seems like the biggest weakness of this neutral drift method.

    @BusterBeachside@BusterBeachside3 жыл бұрын
    • So in terms of actual movement speed, neutral drift > soft drift > hard drift. Not sure I explained this point particularly well, but generally on 200 if a turn is shallow enough that you can hug it tightly with a neutral drift, it's faster to do so than it is to wiggle and get the next level of MT (see the WR ghosts for sweet canyon and cheep cheep beach before the first underwater section) for examples. It's basically because the movement is slower, and the little wiggles have a much larger impact on your lines in 200 than 150. In 150 it's kind of the opposite in that if you can build up the next level of MT, then you generally want to try and do so. That being said though, there really aren't that many situations where you absolutely need to wiggle drift to build up levels of mini turbo, since soft drifting will generally work out just fine

I love drifting in MarioKart (It's literally WHY I play, I just love the movement of drifting that much that it's basically the main thing holding my attention) so naturally I go straight to Dragon Driftway to try and master Purple Drifting (At the time I'd only seen orange sparks like twice.) I figured if I can simply drift long enough, like the game told me, it'd Just Work Here I am watching you effortlessly get all the purple drifts in the intro that I simply kept missing when I first learned about it lol

  • Hey this is awesome! I didn't know you could mid-air drift XD also I almost understood the 5 point drift angles as appsed to 1 point drift angles. what I mean is, I figured wiggling my analog stick to both seize the drift sparks and control the character before I even watched this video XD I've been doing this since 3ds mainly as ds had the dpad to steer with, then 3ds with the analog pad. But thank you for showing me the best angles, to drift or steer the other way after a drift and to drift in the air to grab that extra boost power. Thanks! You're wicked, have a nice day!

    • Thank you so much for that! Oh and just to make sure I didn't misinform, you have to start the drift before you get into the air, but you can keep holding that drift once you're in the air. If you try and START the drift in mid air your kart is gonna go all crazy haha
