flew with DAN AIR in the 80s to EFL,island was unspoilt no big hotels, tiny airport..FANTASTIC ,Wish it was still like that

As Theodoros Kolokotronis said we have a few thousand islands in Greece and most of the ones which are inhabited have airports so you can imagine how many airports Greece has as opposed to much larger U.K which probably has only a fraction of what Greece has. Also I find in these smaller airports they are very efficient because they get soooo busy in the high season and are not as sticky about things as some of the British laws!!
Hello Alexandre! Your comment can be continued with a long conversation... My basic point is that some changes don't need money, but efficient thinking... Unfortunately now most of them are sold, I say unfortunately cause they created profit for the country. I hope FRAPORT will at least make them better and give passenger a better experience. They did in Thessaloniki, with minor changes and they are building a new terminal. Thanks for your comment

AirFlight Travels yeah I agree with you, the most modern airport is ATH, all the others I visited (CFU, CHQ, HER, JTR) should be renovated and in summer are so crowded and small...

I hope Fraport will make them better.They all need new management and ideas as they are not functioning as they should. Fun fact? Most of them are profitable but the profit was never going back to them. Lets hope that Fraport will invest an amount and return some of the profit for development.

Hey im planning on flying with this airline and taking a carry on and a regular size backpack. Do you know if they measure or weigh carry on luggage at the check in desk or upon boarding?
Hello. In Athens its very rare to face a check, but in Thessaloniki or if you fly from abroad yes, there is the possibility of checking. If I understood well you want to take two pieces on board, right?
Correct, but one is a carry on suitcase dimensions 22.7” x 14.7” x 9.6” inches and the other is a small backpack that will fit under the seat. Im planning on taking this airline from ZTH to ATH
Hmm I dont know, generally in Greece A3/OA doesn't ask you for hand luggage check. If you fly with Airbus A320, ground staff is more loose. If you fly with Bombardier Dash8 then you may have a problem. My advise, do an online check in and then while boarding be relaxed. Personally I flew ATH-SKG business class with 2 hand luggage and I had a problem. Good luck!
now they fly same route with A320 during summer season, about 20 minutes
They change the planes depending on the load factor. Yesterday I flew with DH4 instead of 320... Faster flights best for the pax! I think ideal would be the CS/A2 series for A3/OA.
that would be great but i dont think they can afford that. I read that aegean will upgrade its fleet in the early 2020's, we will see. And yes I think you are right it is load factor because my flight was originally intended to be the DH...but we were full and they gave us an Airbus
I don't think the reason is financial cause aegean did a an order of a few billions euro. It has to do with planning and the all Airbus fleet policy.

Hahaha comfortable seat 💺! Better prefer a seat at the front if you are tall. Rear seats on planes are like that, not good for a tall person. A seat near an emergency exit is a good idea too.
Usually seats in the front have more space, its true.
Then you can go to dortmund germany - izmir turkey the tickets are cheap you can fly if it goes with sunexpress

Its a small island .. with only 35,000 population, what kind of airport did you expect? Heathow?
No, not at all, but at least a functional. Also the airport is not made for the 35.000 but for the thousands of income tourists who spend their money. You know its not always about the facilities but many times the way it is working. A perfect example is SKG airport where FRAPORT just reduced the checkin desk area and increased the gates area...
