UN experts have expressed “deep concern” following the ruling denying Shamima Begum’s appeal to regain her British citizenship.
“Begum remains stripped of her citizenship, vulnerable, and denied assistance and protection as a possible victim of trafficking,” the UN experts said.
The experts have called on the UK Government to take “urgent action” to provide Begum with assistance and protection, including repatriation to the UK, and to review and reconsider the decision to revoke her citizenship.
Former Military Intelligence Officer Philip Ingram joins Cross Talk to discuss this further.

The UK is still a member of the UN. And on the UN Security Council. So the UK should uphold and abide by UN resolutions - unless the UK is willing to give up its seat on the UN Security Council (which would mean giving up its power of veto).

Shamima didn't have a British passport at the time she left British shores. She stole one from a family member and used that instead. She knew what she was doing and it wasn't being trafficked.

The justice system is designed to be impartial and fair, and it does not discriminate against anyone based on their ethnicity, and should not affect how they are treated under the law. The legal system does not tolerate any kind of selective behaviour or discrimination. Isn't that funny if someone brings honour to their country, they are considered a British national, but on ther hand if someone commits a crime, then their class of citizenship becomes questionable by twisted words.
