That was one of the most profound conversations I’ve ever had
You are an inspiration.
hy joey :3
you smart quirky bro
Ah yeah I saw compound effect in the bookstore
Just discovered you through this video
Admit it, you were confused in the first 4 minutes of this video. 😂 Happy new year!!
indeed haha
We are all afraid of change because we are so comfortable with certainty. But by facing uncertainty, we can take control of our life.
This reminds me of the Matrix Resurrections that I saw a couple of days ago :)
And even in certainty we can never be certain…😊
Impermanence (uncertainty) is nature of all things. Knowing this truth and embracing “change” will set us free.
Necessary, and easier said than done.
This is so true.!!! But is so scary at the same time.!!
Smart quirky bros
It’s ali 🥰
Our purpose in life is to live. That's it. Only humans put these "I need to be something special" pressures on themselves and end up depressed and disappointed their entire lives. Be here now. Live day by day. That's it. Take your cues from the natural world not human constructs designed to make you feel less than.
I agree with you to an extent. Other animals don't have long term goals because they literally can't. We inhabit a totally different experience from other animals thanks to our developed prefrontal cortex. I do agree that there is wisdom to be learned from other animals. It is very rewarding to learn how to live in the moment. Most people could stand to develop that part of themselves much more. But if everyone only lived in the present, like animals do, we would have no great buildings, or great symphonies, or cars. Some planning and worrying is useful, unless we want to literally return to monke. Which is valid I guess, but I don't expect to see that movement take off anytime soon.
I think its to be happy, to find happiness
@@yeahohright3097 obviously you have to plan to some degree, but most people live in the past or future and never really experience peace.
I believe this as well. I think purpose is something we invent for ourselves when we find something we enjoy doing. Simply living life. Being kind and caring towards others I believe is our sole purpose
I wanna be ur friend
“You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.” - Albert Camus
Albert Camus is very famous in this lifeism thing.
Exactly the first and only person I had in mind throughout the whole video! Camus was the biggest part of my 2021, I've read a lot this year but somehow his are the only ones that stick
I think this idea of not taking oneself too seriously is so important, especially when aiming to create something of value. Nietzsche approaches the concept of "lightness" when talking about music (in Contra Wagner) - "all that is good is easy... Everything divine runs with light feet”. Now, I don't think he was just referring to how Bizet's Carmen was so "light" and jovial but he was also alluding to how "lightness" is intrinsically related to greatness. If someone (especially an artist/creator) is too serious, too somber, too gloomy in thought and spirit - then he may be limiting himself.
Nietzsche is the man
Everything good is simple
‘Don’t take life too seriously’ is the best lesson I too have learned this year! Thanks for the reminder, Nathaniel! 🙏🏽🤓
Hard to accept it when you're young and have so much to get done.
@@conversationcorner1837 Yeah I can imagine, I guess it takes time to realise and settle in. But this motto will speak to you soon..stick in there!
So so true Kishanth! :)
"Happiness isn't out there, it's in you". The more in-tune we are with ourselves and what makes us tick, the more likely we are to take action on things that make us happy.
Hey Josh! Lol
@@PaperKitty99 small world! Haha
Exactly that, I am a person who faces strong anxiety on a daily basis and now, I believe, I have an onset of depression. With that, I see that nothing makes me happy anymore, even the things I liked before... I'm afraid of everything, I'm sad and frustrated. Until we get dressed, nothing will make us happy.
boooom it’s this! gotta make sure your internal world is in balance and things will be in flow 🥳
I definitely come back to this channel cuz I feel like we could be friends. There's something comforting in knowing there's someone out there that shares some of my qualities :)
I can relate ❤️
For me it's 90%
ur not alone im going through it as well i understand u
ikr
Oh 100%. One of the most profound spiritual moments/messages I ever experienced/received was to laugh at myself, and moreover, to laugh at everything. That the Universe was playing one big cosmic joke and wanted us in on it. It was extremely liberating, and for weeks afterwards, it felt like everything was smiling and winking at me.
I think "don't take yourself/life too seriously" is literally some of the best advice on this planet.
Don't take yourself so seriously. Right message at the right time Drew. I will be finishing my post grad in a few months and I have no clue what to do next. I was, a few hours ago, trying to map how my life would turn out if I choose some among the choices available. And believe me I identified 16 different paths which will put me in different countries in different situations. I was thoroughly overwhelmed by this. But then I asked myself if any of these is guaranteed to happen. And the answer was NO. And it suddenly dawned on me that it was pointless to worry about it. And I was making a wallpaper saying 'Amor Fati', something I have learnt from one of your videos when this dropped. Thanks Drew❤️
Perfectionism slows you down SO MUCH... letting it go and being more playful is so important ❤️🚀
I've been thinking about this so much lately!
@@ZED2.0 suffered from it a lot as well, but so important to be happy with a 90% perfect and moving on, especially with making KZhead videos
I've watched your videos for several years now and I resonate with letting the seriousness slip away a bit! Young people try act super sincere to be heard. At 20 I'm far more immature than I was as a teenager but it feels way better 😂
This is something I’ve been struggling with especially in the past 3 years. Thank you for making this. Part of this spiritual journey is accepting the mystery and uncertainty of life, and as recovering cynic myself, trying to find the joy and beauty on the other side of complexity.
The first 2 minutes of this were surprisingly funny. Great editing to give that comedic effect!
the reason why life is so much easier for me now is because I've learned not to take life too seriously. now I'm living my life and having fun everyday
I love how chaotic the first few minutes of the video were. Oddly satisfying
I believe that purpose drives everything. Some people doesn’t know what their purpose is probably because they are taking it really seriously, but I believe that everyone has a passion or something that drives them. Nathaniel is so inspiring as always 💕
@@Kat-fw5jo it kinda does make sense in a way
I guess sometimes our purpose lies in our unconscious mind and sometimes it's waiting to be discovered.
Thank you for sharing! That’s exactly why I watch your videos, you’ve always been so honest and genuine and you’re serious at times because you care! For the record I believe the topics you cover are very important so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being serious at times! Love what you do man, grateful for you sharing your journey with us 😊
The moment Joey said “HULLO” 👁👄👁 I knew this would be a lovely and chaotic chat
Hey, Nathaniel! I love your videos! Here's something for you - you are going to be asking 'what is my purpose in life' all through your life! And it's great because we are always evolving and changing. I love that you decided to not go to college and spent time abroad - a far better decision than college (okay, for some). It gives you a level of maturity you didn't realize you have. I'm much older than you (Could be your grandmother) but I see you in a different light. You are learning and willing to do the work it takes to get where you need. The fun part is you have your whe life ahead of you and you will be learning all the time - I still am learning! I love being where I am. Keep learning, keep growing and keep that spark alive that keeps you moving!
Another Great video, sending lots of Love your way and wishing a Super 2022!
Two of my fav internet people together. ❤️
I feel you. I always take myself seriously. I'm on a journey to not take things seriously/ personally.
“Adventures await”, love that💕
It has literally been the focus of my whole week.. to not take life too seriously. Can't believe you just released that video. Feels like telepathy. Nathaniel Drew, you are inspiring, genuine and an a beautiful soul. Bless your Heart!
I think as someone who struggles with overthinking and seeking perfection in everything, I tend to take things so hard. From school projects and essays to some minor arguments with friends all and all take so much energy and time from me that sometimes I loose track of time and forget to enjoy the nuances of everyday life that’s why “ don’t take yourself too seriously” is such a simple yet important message to remind myself every now and then. Enjoying good aspects of life, accepting the bitter times and moving on. At the end of the day I want to satisfy my urges and desires not feeling regret when I’m old and half way through death.
@10:12 " A part of maturing, becoming an adult, and the spiritual journey is *Embracing the complexities of life. Further opening yourself up to the nuances and subtleties that are inherent in the Human Experience.* " #aWORD!!! 🧐💯🙌🏾
I truly appreciate your insight on life! Another great video, thanks Nate!!
Awesome duo! Well done guys and happy new year!
It was fun watching you two joke around about making videos. I’ve been following your channels since before you moved to Mexico the first time. The initial relatable videos I had seen were your language learning videos you posted in French and Spanish. It’s been cool to see your content as well as your person grow and evolve. Your curiosity to question what is this experience we call life and your will to adventure has inspired me greatly. So thank you for that. Happy New Year, Nathan.
I love to watch your work. You’re building your life and work and personality all on film. You’re using your life to demonstrate how no one way is correct while you figure it out. Quite honestly I wish I had had a person walk through their life with me as you have with your subscribers. You ask the questions and push the boundaries. There is a time for serious and a time for laughter. You will never regret where you’ve been if it helps you reach your goal. When I was a teen a friend asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I replied, “Happy.” 45 years later I’m grown and I’m happy. No regrets.
The behind the scenes! Love it! Keep being you, man, it's wonderful.
Excellent point. There's so many people who go through their days trying to project this image of cool calm and collected, almost like an ad. To each their own I get it. I would also add avoid negativity at all cost, whether it's coming from you or you're ingesting it or feeding other peoples negativity. Avoid it, at all costs.
i like abraham hicks definition ' the basis of your life is freedom, the purpose of your life is joy'
Happy New Year Nathaniel! It's so great that you are living the life you love. I love watching you do that!
I really loved the end, when you talk about not having expectations about 2022 but being excited! Today is my birthday and I started my day with this video, this was so great man! I watch your videos for years now and it got so important for me, you are really enlightening. Please keep being yourself, youre awesome :)
You are a sincere, earnest breath of fresh air
Watching you over the years has been very inspiring and has helped me to change my life!!! Keep up all the great work. You are awesome and amazing!! 😎
I wish we had more conversations like this in real life.
Me too!!
This video made complete sense and absolutely no sense at all. And I think that is where the beauty of it really lies.💙
Nathaniel's life is so different. Keep your track and wish you all the best!
I always get excited to click on your videos. I agree that I think a sense of maturity is when you learn to have some humility. And I believe this is also essential to build relationships, because noone really stays around long if you're rigid in your ways and too serious. As always, looking forward to the future videos Nathaniel!
I've been working on building systems for living with my adhd diagnosis for the past two years and it's been a big fight. In the last quarter of 2021 I tried designing some fluid systems for living that would help me flourish in the way body and mind operate and the day before 2022, when I had just finished atomic habits I saw a fabulous add. It's two weeks into the new year and i've made some pretty significant changes in my life. I attribute that partly to all the mental preparation i've put in these past few years but also to fabulous for being exactly what I needed at this time in life. Fab is a conduit for me to realize what i've been dreaming about for so long. While watching your last video I was like "Man, fabulous would be a great sponsor for Nathaniel's stuff", and i'm pleasantly surprised to see them in this video. What a rant, anyhow, thanks for this! Hope your 2022 is everything it can be and more.
Amazing work Nathaniel!
I watch ya cuz I appreciate your depth of thinking , I appreciate your vulnerability a lot, and I love your sense of adventure. Also that you live in a different country. I admire that and am thankful I can live vicariously! 🇫🇷
Just saw it already excited like always
I swear you release the most bangers. You’re on a whole nother level
powerful video, thank you!!!
have always loved your stuff nathaniel! :)
"Laugh at yourself and you'll never run out of things to laugh at." ☺️
This was amazing. As a sensitive soul, your advice hit the nail on the head. I feel like we have very similar temperaments, and am so glad to be on this journey with you!
Oh, Nathaniel! You are so genuine. I do feel like I know you a little bit through your videos. Great work!
This video is so much fun, while also being clever and impactful, had a good laugh at the 'smart quirky bros'! Inspiring as always ❤️
You are my favourite youtuber! I enjoy every single video and always leave with the thought that you are a very unique and genuine human. Keep it up!!
I LOVE THIS AND I LOVE YOUR WORK. HOW COME YOU PUT OUT YOUR VIDEOS EXACTLY WHEN I NEED TO HEAR THEM! ❤️
I had noticed that his videos were always very pensive and serious. I admired the constant curiosity and contemplation, but I also thought that maybe he was really just looking for inner peace. He seems to be very happy with how far he’s come. It’s been awesome to see the journey
Inner peace is easier to come by when you have some accomplishments under your belt.
I too watch Nathaniel’s videos because I think we could be good friends. He’s very relatable, and I feel like we have grown up in similar ways to each other over the last few years. It’s nice to hear that he grew up “serious” through his childhood, because I was that way too. I had to grow out of my perfectionism and have learned that life doesn’t need to always be serious, it can be really fun and funny too. Another great video, Nathaniel! Cheers.
Love the channel. I do struggle at times and find myself asking the "what is my purpose" question. I love making motivation and inspirational videos. I want to inspire others and also be inspired by others like you.
Love it Nathan. Thank u
Love the "action over perfection" approach, certainly making a lot of sense 👌 Got me from making long massive videos into quick frequent ones with less seriousness 😊🎥 Enoy the process!
Thank you Nathaniel :) With new year, school, and being in my 20s this was a much needed video as sometimes I find myself being too hard on myself. I agree it's time to worry less about how things should be and about what people think. Instead going with the flow of things and learning to laugh with yourself is important. Just like we would laugh with a friend, we should go easy on ourselves sometimes too.
Nathaniel, despite your success, you are very relatable! Sometimes I watch your videos and am shocked how some of your thoughts are similar to mine, I think for any person, it's nice to know that there are other people out there like you and you are not alone in your thoughts
Nathaniel, I'm still pretty new to your channel (I originally found you through Johnny Harris' Cyprus series), but I've already come to love your perspective on life. I ask many of the same questions myself and can really feel myself engaging with your approach to answering them. It's good to be here!
This was a surprisingly wholesome video.
Most of the time I’m trying to understand how to claim some kind of synergy In myself. I want to always be mulling over the insane complexity of life, or at least convince myself into some stream of mindful and blissful being; but then I remember to look up at life itself. I do this with an ebb and flow. Thanks you so much for this video and all your content, Nathaniel. I don’t know that I’ve related more to any other human in my life.
It really touched my heart 💗 thank you so much 🙏 sending a lot of love from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Relatability is why I am here. Plus you are an amazing person. There is the bridge well established as we have similar interests.
The first portion seemed totally legit, really enjoyed it.
Great video Nathaniel!! The first part did make me laugh :D I also take things way too seriously, always have, and I find that it makes me rigid and stifles my creativity. It feels like holding your breath and holding tension in your body all the time which is exhausting. Humor and gratitude and a kind of acceptance of the uncertainty that comes with life always help with the tension in my experience. Thanks for the reminder! Love your videos and learning & growing alongside with you.
Loved the vid Nathan!
love that video, so great to see someone as successful as you and Joey, to be so relaxed and that you can laugh about yourself. Excited to follow you on your journey and everything that's coming :)
the collaboration i’ve been waiting for 🎉
Love the channel, Nathaniel
Being able to laugh about yourself is extremely important, great video ❤
i just got to know about your channel recently from a friend and I'm already loving your aura. you're def one of those people i would wanna be friends with and have meaningful conversations about life :')
I've known mine for so long... but I've been putting it away for many reasons like wanting to do something else. I today realized that I must find a way to fully invest my self in it.
This is a great video. It was definitely fun and inspiring to watch. I also loved the first part. I love how authentic and open you are. You inspire me a lot as an aspiring content creator. Lots of love ❤️
I loooove this dude SO much!!! Merci d'exister!!!
Incredible a collab i didnt expect
great way to start my morning, great way to start my year. thanks for the laughs and deep thoughts !
you both together! woww what a surprise love u both and your motivative pure souls
Thank you Nathan for creating such entertaining content!
Your sensitive nature is your super power, but it can be difficult in this world. Enjoy your videos. Stay humble as you grow
Knowing your purpose in life helps you live life with integrity. People who know their purpose in life know who they are, what they are, and why they are. And when you know yourself, it becomes easier to live a life that's true to your core values.🥰🥰🥰🥰
I feel like you and I, and most likely many around the world, are on almost the exact same path and trajectory right now. I have an intuitive feeling I'll meet you one day some point in the future - I look forward to it. Keep doing what youre doing Nathan, its beautiful.
The start of this video was hilarious 😂 Loved it.
"Relateable" is complicated. It's all relative. Either way, you have whatever it takes to be a KZheadr. Just roll with it, dude. I'm pretty sure you don't need me to tell you that at this point. You got it nailed. Just keep being yourself!
It is very rare for me to find people with whom I would have this initial 'spark'. The feeling of knowing each other so well though it's been only a few days. The feeling of sharing same ideas and curiosity about life. And the feeling that I can actually learn a lot from that person because they have this inner wisdom (the wisdom that's hard to describe by writing dissertations or smart books - hey, 2 degrees preson here! but it's not about that at all). But this channel and your content is something like that for me - though we don't know each other, I come to your videos with a feeling of gratitude because I know I will learn something knew or find the spark to explore my own ideas a bit more. Thanks for that! As to the video - I think the world would be generally a better place if we all just pulled the sticks out of our arses from time to time and laugh it off :)
not me thinking it was a hickey at first :D But seriously though, your videos make me feel like I am not alone (I used to be just like you described in my childhood and still take things pretty much seriously), and that there is a way to find myself in this world. Gosh, even used the world "seriously" in my last sentence, lol. Thank you.
Hahaha I love this. The more I “matured” the more I also realised that sometimes we don’t need to have all the answers to our questions about life. Like always, your videos have always been the best in expressing these little discoveries and insights on life💛
Totally in for the future direction of the channel!
You are very likeable, and your videos have a nice vibe. Also the topics you introduce are thought provoking. I hope you have a wonderful New Year and that this is your best year yet.
That’s really funny 🤣 this is the best way to end this year and welcoming 2022 🥳
Thanks for letting us into your world
Loved it!
The deepest conversation I ever heard (lol) THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO 🙏 #inspired
youre changing freaking lives
