  • Our purpose in life is to live. That's it. Only humans put these "I need to be something special" pressures on themselves and end up depressed and disappointed their entire lives. Be here now. Live day by day. That's it. Take your cues from the natural world not human constructs designed to make you feel less than.

    • I agree with you to an extent. Other animals don't have long term goals because they literally can't. We inhabit a totally different experience from other animals thanks to our developed prefrontal cortex. I do agree that there is wisdom to be learned from other animals. It is very rewarding to learn how to live in the moment. Most people could stand to develop that part of themselves much more. But if everyone only lived in the present, like animals do, we would have no great buildings, or great symphonies, or cars. Some planning and worrying is useful, unless we want to literally return to monke. Which is valid I guess, but I don't expect to see that movement take off anytime soon.

  • I think this idea of not taking oneself too seriously is so important, especially when aiming to create something of value. Nietzsche approaches the concept of "lightness" when talking about music (in Contra Wagner) - "all that is good is easy... Everything divine runs with light feet”. Now, I don't think he was just referring to how Bizet's Carmen was so "light" and jovial but he was also alluding to how "lightness" is intrinsically related to greatness. If someone (especially an artist/creator) is too serious, too somber, too gloomy in thought and spirit - then he may be limiting himself.

That the Universe was playing one big cosmic joke and wanted us in on it. It was extremely liberating, and for weeks afterwards, it felt like everything was smiling and winking at me.

  • Don't take yourself so seriously. Right message at the right time Drew. I will be finishing my post grad in a few months and I have no clue what to do next. I was, a few hours ago, trying to map how my life would turn out if I choose some among the choices available. And believe me I identified 16 different paths which will put me in different countries in different situations. I was thoroughly overwhelmed by this. But then I asked myself if any of these is guaranteed to happen. And the answer was NO. And it suddenly dawned on me that it was pointless to worry about it. And I was making a wallpaper saying 'Amor Fati', something I have learnt from one of your videos when this dropped. Thanks Drew❤️

And it's great because we are always evolving and changing. I love that you decided to not go to college and spent time abroad - a far better decision than college (okay, for some). It gives you a level of maturity you didn't realize you have. I'm much older than you (Could be your grandmother) but I see you in a different light. You are learning and willing to do the work it takes to get where you need. The fun part is you have your whe life ahead of you and you will be learning all the time - I still am learning! From school projects and essays to some minor arguments with friends all and all take so much energy and time from me that sometimes I loose track of time and forget to enjoy the nuances of everyday life that’s why “ don’t take yourself too seriously” is such a simple yet important message to remind myself every now and then. Enjoying good aspects of life, accepting the bitter times and moving on. At the end of the day I want to satisfy my urges and desires not feeling regret when I’m old and half way through death.

Quite honestly I wish I had had a person walk through their life with me as you have with your subscribers. You ask the questions and push the boundaries. There is a time for serious and a time for laughter. You will never regret where you’ve been if it helps you reach your goal. When I was a teen a friend asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. • I've been working on building systems for living with my adhd diagnosis for the past two years and it's been a big fight. In the last quarter of 2021 I tried designing some fluid systems for living that would help me flourish in the way body and mind operate and the day before 2022, when I had just finished atomic habits I saw a fabulous add. It's two weeks into the new year and i've made some pretty significant changes in my life. I attribute that partly to all the mental preparation i've put in these past few years but also to fabulous for being exactly what I needed at this time in life. Fab is a conduit for me to realize what i've been dreaming about for so long. While watching your last video I was like "Man, fabulous would be a great sponsor for Nathaniel's stuff", and i'm pleasantly surprised to see them in this video. What a rant, anyhow, thanks for this! • Knowing your purpose in life helps you live life with integrity. People who know their purpose in life know who they are, what they are, and why they are. And when you know yourself, it becomes easier to live a life that's true to your core values.🥰🥰🥰🥰

  • I feel like you and I, and most likely many around the world, are on almost the exact same path and trajectory right now. I have an intuitive feeling I'll meet you one day some point in the future - I look forward to it. Keep doing what youre doing Nathan, its beautiful.

  • "Relateable" is complicated. It's all relative. Either way, you have whatever it takes to be a KZheadr. Just roll with it, dude. I'm pretty sure you don't need me to tell you that at this point. You got it nailed. Just keep being yourself!

  • It is very rare for me to find people with whom I would have this initial 'spark'. The feeling of knowing each other so well though it's been only a few days. The feeling of sharing same ideas and curiosity about life. And the feeling that I can actually learn a lot from that person because they have this inner wisdom (the wisdom that's hard to describe by writing dissertations or smart books - hey, 2 degrees preson here! but it's not about that at all). But this channel and your content is something like that for me - though we don't know each other, I come to your videos with a feeling of gratitude because I know I will learn something knew or find the spark to explore my own ideas a bit more. Thanks for that! As to the video - I think the world would be generally a better place if we all just pulled the sticks out of our arses from time to time and laugh it off :)

  • not me thinking it was a hickey at first :D But seriously though, your videos make me feel like I am not alone (I used to be just like you described in my childhood and still take things pretty much seriously), and that there is a way to find myself in this world. Gosh, even used the world "seriously" in my last sentence, lol. Thank you.

  • Hahaha I love this. The more I “matured” the more I also realised that sometimes we don’t need to have all the answers to our questions about life. Like always, your videos have always been the best in expressing these little discoveries and insights on life💛
