  • For everyone asking.... The fans aren't protesting against Dietmar Hopp, they're peotesting against what he stands for. The fans want the 50+1 rule to stay (with good reason) They don't want the Bundesliga to become the next Premier League

  • I implore all the German football fans to continue with their protests. Don't let traditions that protect supporters fade out so easily. I applaud their efforts. The players are seemingly suffering as innocent parties, but it is a necessary concession. I respect these protests a lot. It shows that the German football fans care about their rights and the rights of other supporters of rival teams. Admirable.

    • Yes but there are better ways of protesting, rather than calling him a son of a wh*re, violating the DFB etc.. the banners are very inappropriate and shouldn't be condemned which is why they arent being condemned. There are better ways to protest than this

    • @@charlieracine5443 i mean clearly this is the best way to get noticed and to actually have an impact. a lot of teams have been doing it and its clearly successful becasue the media is reporting it. the german fa needs to be consistent in their decision making. of what ive read they are not and this is completely acceptable in my eyes. Hopp is breaking the german football traditions alongside a few others. and the measures taken against the supporters that are protesting them are harsher than anything else. like everyone mentioned in the comments but against racism games never get stopped. i guess another way of protesting would be to not show up at all but not sure that would be effective.

    • Hopp is a billionaire who pumped Hoffenheim with money and got them into the Bundesliga as the owner. This is against the 50+1 rule which says that one person or a company cant have over 50% of the clubs shares. Leverkusen and Wolfsburg arent affected since the clubs were created for the employers of Bayer(Leverkusen) and Volkswagen(Wolfsburg). Bayern Munich for example is 75% owned by the fans and each 8,33% by Adidas, Audi and Allianz.

    • There's the 50+1 rule in the Bundesliga, which means the members/fans of the club must own the majority of the club's decision making power/stakes etc. So, this billionaire is breaking the rule. He has bumped millions and millions to his club Hoffenheim, which lead to the rapid promotion from the amateur tiers to all the way up to the Champions League. That wasn't made by the traditional way so people are losing their minds lol. The football should be about the beautiful game and people aren't happy to see these companies/billionaires showing up and using the product to sell or promote something/his own brand.

    • I'm giving a very poor explanation here: As far as I'm aware, in Germany, teams have a 50+1 rule that states that a club cannot have a majority investor. So basically some guy who's rich af owns more than half of the club. This allows him to dictate ticket prices etc. and gives the club an advantage as he can give them all the spending money they need to buy a strong team. It basically takes the competitiveness out of the game as we've seen in France where PSG spend way more than everyone else and proceed to dominate. That's my understanding of the situation, but I'm sure someone else will give a better explanation
