The shorter you get, the higher you need to get.. I used to sometimes smash my balls on people's heads back in high school😂. At 5'4 or so I had to get that high to try dunk.. Wish I kept playing untill i was full grown..

It feels like you could go on effortlessly forever. Although in reality, after a handful of dunks like that in such a short time period, you start pushing your luck. The sheer intensity needed to jump like that time after time really starts to wear down your legs after a while even if the adrenaline hasn't worn off yet. That's when young athletes seemingly in their prime tear up their ACLs, blow out their knees...

Standing vertical jump is completely different. Watch the CR7 documentary. When he runs and jumps, he jumps higher than 99.9% of all people, while his standing vertical jump is just about average.

I took jump damage, while jumping somewhat like that at 16. Blew out my knee on the way up, still floated a few seconds then came back down without an ACL. Being white, 6'2" and then capable of hitting the rim with my head, it really felt like nature trying to correct a mistake.
