Scored 765/1000
Your in-yer-face presentation is extremely unpleasant. I lasted twenty-five seconds.
Hey Antonio, I scored 658. Kind of embarrassed since I wear 514 & 541's and I'm 44. I wore uniforms all my life so I never really had to worry about my wardrobe.
82? Score and yes I like this video. Keep it up.
you probably dont give a shit but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch all the new movies on instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my gf for the last couple of months :)
This is a great breakdown! Thank you. I’ve been wearing 501 shrink to fit and 541 for years. But now that my son is a teenager, I can use this to help guide him in his search for jeans. He’s trying to find his own style balanced with a slim athletic build.
OMG… Finally a clear way of understanding the madness of Levi’s Jeans! Levi’s should pay you for this work you’ve done here. 🙌❤️
Thanks for this. These types of videos need to be a *yearly* thing, because (1) repetition of (2) the basics is key.
I think it's also important to mention that if you get a pair of Levi's that fit you great, don't just look at the style number (501, 505, 511, etc), but also where they are made (Pakistan, Egypt, Mexico, etc). In my personal experience, I've found that Pakistan made 505's are my favorite style and make of Levi's, 505's made in any other country do not fit me the same as the Pakistan made ones. If you try a certain style that fits your frame at a store, make sure you sample from the different countries where they are made.
My favorite are the 501's made in Egypt.
@@justinpatrickhoffman Yo bro what happened to the design where it used to have one back pocket?
Still have 3 pair of 505 I bought about 27 years ago made in the good old USA and they fit me better than any other 505 made anywhere.
@@jimoneill7657 touch down O’Neil !
I'm trying to find a pair of Levis that are my bfs but he has worn them out and all I can see is "straight taper" on the inside of the waistband, nothing else is visible, can anyone help me find this Levi? He doesn't remember the numbers on it, but they make my butt look great! 😃😃😃😃
The video I have been looking for. Just want to say thank you for mentoring all of us with your KZhead videos. Not only do I have a richer understanding of men’s style but you have helped me become a better man. Thank you.
Excellent breakdown! Helps make sense of a complex lineup, and to know which ones are best for each guy. Nicely done, Antonio.
I discovered the 511 & 512 (34/30) a few years ago and haven't looked back. They are comfortable, contemporary, come in many colours and last forever.
Great video if you're a loyal Levi customer AND want to add or diverstise your jean collection but not sure where to start with all the varieties and suitability to your body style. This video is very helpful.
I scored 763. Before I switched to Wranglers out of utility, 501 is my go to for Levi. Nowadays, I get my jeans made to measure but the construction are based on Wrangler.
Great video. This would have been helpful when I went shopping for jeans a few months ago. By trial and error, I found that the 502’s fit me perfectly. As you said, they’re a clean, versatile option that you can dress up or down. I bought 3 pairs of 502’s in dark denim, black, and tan, and looking to pick up grey soon. I would highly recommend this style to your athletic to average built men who want more tailored jean look.
Me too & the 511's as well
Thank you. I have watched a few videos explaining Levis styles, which made me more confused. Yours is the best one. crystally clear.
511 I feel are the most basic fit for comfort, not too skinny and not too baggy. They’re an everyday Jean that never go out of style
Which ones look best with Jordans, that are tight around the ankle, that aren’t baggy, but at the same time I’m not trying to get really skinny jeans. Never bought a pair or skinny jeans yet lol, but at the same time it’s not 2005 and I don’t want baggy either. Guess I have to get with the times. Lol
@@magnoliamike 502
Do you guys feel like the 511s crotch is cut really high compared to other designers? Always loved the look of Levi’s but man it can be uncomfortable sometimes
I’ve personally been liking the Slim Tapers recently. It’s a great fit for me.
oh man this guide really helps a lot! hope you make more guide per company thanks
Thank you for this video! I prefer to buy Levis for jeans, but I had no idea that they had such a variety of styles. I tried on some 541's and they fit SO much better than my traditional 505's!
Recently bought a pair of dark wash 541s, love them! As you say, they are really versatile. They can be dressed up or down accordingly. I’m definitely going to buy a black pair in the near future
Holy crap! When did buying a pair of jeans become so complicated? My freakin' head is going to explode! 🤯
This was great. I love when you go in depth.
A great comprehensive video which makes it much easier to decide what to buy. Thank you!
559s are my favorites. Great review; thank you for sharing it with us.
Perfect timing! I was headed out to the Levi’s store yesterday and was on their site looking at the fit options. Then clicked over to KZhead and saw this video! Helped know what to try on first. I went with the 512 Slim Tapered. Fit amazing! Thanks Antonio!
That is because you got no muscle to wear real old school jeans..
@@michaelcraig9449 that’s true! The original fits would be too baggy on me!
@@michaelcraig9449 Depends on if you're cut or mass. I'm more cut so I wear slim fit. I workout 6 days a week and two of those days are cardio so I can stay lean. To say people who wear slim fit are not muscular is a sweeping generalization.
I think you'll find most comment sections are full of those (the last two words of your statement)...
Michael Craig shut up
If you’re not helpful, no one is. Thank you, Antonio!
738 still a way to go. But I just discovered RMRS about a year ago und went deep since that. Before that I had no idea about style. With that in mind, I‘m pretty happy with my score 😊
i greatly appreciate this video. thanks for taking the time to produce it
I've been wearing Levi's for over 20 years now and I've graduated from the 501 (available everywhere) to 513's which seem to be plentiful a few years back, but harder to find these days in actual brick and mortar stores, but that may just be specific to my area. Like it says in this video, the 513 is for people with a generally slim build who may have increased their waist and butt size over the years, and for me the fit is perfect....when I can find them in my size.
Im 45 and wear jeans that make me look like I should wear new balance with grass stains on them.
Have both.
550?
It’s starting to make sense when you explain it like you do!!! My fit and style would be something along the lines of 511, 512 or 513 👍
Im 73. Teased that I wear grandpa jeans. Watched video. Went to a Levi's store and tried several pairs. Went with your recommenddation of trying Levi's 512 and a size smaller than my 505's. Fit great. Got a thumbs up from former critics of my old Levis.
Off At last you uploaded the guidelines. Thanks sir 😀. To be honest I am a loyal customer of Levi's.😁 Their jeans are functional as well as comfortable. I tried other brands which are available in India. But the problem with most of the brands are either you have to compromise with quality or comfort or budget etc.
I scored 760. The 511 are my go to.
This is great info Antonio. Thanks for creating this.
Antonio, thanks much for the time and research. Another Great & Informative video.😎
I found 541's to be the best for me, then they released the 531's, I like those a lot and just wish they had more colors for them.
Got my style score and signed up to one of the courses. As part of the course I received a Zoom call from one of the style representatives, this was a real bonus. Gavin offered loads of advice and tips and was very supportive of my quest to be the man I know I can be. He was a total gent. I would definitely recommend finding out your style score and availing of the style system. I have definitely learned more info that i plan on putting in to action.
This is awesome - thanks for sharing this Gary! :)
I thank you very much Antonio for all these recommendations and all these explanations concerning today's subject
Every smart woman owns Levi’s. 501 has my heart. Thanks for the information much appreciated
508 and 514 to me, are the best jeans Levi's ever made. They fit so well, and the taper is just right.
I do the 501, 505, & 514s.
I went to a Levi store this week and I tried on six different pairs of jeans to find my ideal fit. And I found the 512 is close to perfect with 511 being a close second. And yes the difference was exactly what you said that the 512 had a little bit more of a tapered calf which is what was important for me so I can size up for my big glutes and calves and then still have a nice thin leg
That is all I wear. the 511 are just right. IF you want to go with a tighter taper, 512. Geat cuts.
My mother bought me 511 and it stay with me for last 10 years and it finally ripped few days ago. Kinda sad but I really serve it purpose. Will stay with Levi forever!
a big thanks to you antonio. your videos are incredibly amazing and helpful. keep up the great work. cheers
My last pair of 501s , were purchased from the Levis shop last November and they made with the new waterless construction method , I wore through at the crotch with 6 months. I normally have four pairs of jeans on the go at once, so it wasn't like they were being wore every day. I've worn 501's since the late 80's, with the exception of 1999- 2003 when I wore slightly looser Levis. I doubt I'll be buying any more Levi's unless I can find used 90's-00's pairs in decent condition.
I've actually been getting more into Chinos lately but still don't mind keeping at least 2 pairs of jeans in the wardrobe since they're still convenient. How many jeans do you have Antonio? Truly curious although you're probably not a minimalist when it comes to pants but still would be fascinating to know since you always pull off the sport coat and jeans combo so well. Thanks for the inspiration as always!
This video helped me find the perfect pair of Levi’s for me, 505 regular fit and I love them
Nice informative video! some of us didn’t have a father figure growing up, this summarized the Jean game nicely 👍
Levi's peaked in the 90's with their quality. Not nearly as durable now but I still wear them. I miss silvertabs!
silvertabs are back now btw
501 are my style. Straight leg of course.
This video was so helpful, definitely goin with the 511s
Great much needed information. Long over due. Your right work with your body type to get the right fit.
Being a long time 510/511 wearer I think it's worth mentioning that Levi's changes some of their fits from time to time, and the 510s are a perfect example. All of my 510s are at least 2 years old at this point and they're actually mid rise - they sit at the waist; not too high, not too low, just right (for me). So if any of you frequent vintage/consignment stores and find 510s in your size, keep in mind they might be mid rise, not below waist.
Yo bro what happened to the design where it used to have one back pocket?
I hve a US-made 517, double stitches on the legs when it came out (not sure if i bought it in 1999). I still have the tags, never wear it. I kept it that way because i noticed the next batch came out was single stitch on the legs
767. Love my pair of 511's. I want to get another pair as a backup. After years of wearing cargo pants (not in a work environment) they were what brought me back to jeans.
I am on my weight loss journey and so far I have managed to lose 51 lbs. And the good thing is that my taper fit Levi's 502 looks like a relaxed fit now. 1:02 this is how I look in my taper fit now.
I found out about 8 years ago the 514's were the best for me since I wear them below the waist, have long legs, no ass & being 6'4". 30 years ago, I was doing 501's 505's & 550's & really didn't have a clue to study the numbers thinking everyone else was wearing 501's so 501's were the go-to jean. I think I still have 501's shrink to fit with the tags still on them from the late 80's early 90's made in the US. Antonio, you are the man to compile all the fashion information for men who are clueless & don't have any direction when looking their best. Thank you.
I used to wear 511s 33 waist and it was never quite right and needed time to break in. Surprisingly, I found that moving to the 541s in 30 waist was the perfect fit. I did it on a whim and didn’t expect it to fit that well. TLDR - try on different fits (regardless of what you think you are) in different sizes to find your right fit.
True story. I work for Levi’s and it’s a great cut to play with, with all the stretch it can do anything.
I wasn't expecting a video about Levi's jeans and all its products! Man good video tho great information I had no idea, I'm always buying 501s and then I see all these other numbers and never bothered with them. THANKS MAN I'll try something new now from Levi's
Thanks! I was so confused I never bothered with Levis
I have over 20 pairs of Levi's and 6 pairs of 501 same exact size and each pair fits slightly different. Nothing beats that button fly! Levi's are so versatile either work or getting dressed up! once you get that first pair you're hooked for life! Got to get the Jean jacket to mix in the rotation! Haha i love the video you really break it down! 👍👍
Yo bro what happened to the design where it used to have one back pocket?
Is 501 strechable?
@@hogg8305 the more you wear them overtime they will break-in and stretch a little bit. The denim itself isn't stretchable. And the less you wash them the better they feel
I think it's fine that they have these options, but there is some inconsistencies. A 511 from 1 factory might be slightly different from a 511 from another factory. Gap is guilty of this too.
It's funny how I followed the trend over the decades. Started with 501 went to 550 during the baggy faze then to 505 for bit now back to 501s. Gonna check out the 513 & 514. So many new styles I never even knew existed.
714...I’ve worn Levi’s since the mid 80’s, it used to be the shrink-to-fit 501s. Now I go for a more relaxed fit jean. It used to be that I would outgrow jeans long before I out wore them but that did change. I liked Levi’s though as I could get several years out of a pair. I think I may be done with Levi’s now. I’ve been wearing 541s for some time and 7 of the last 10 pair I bought blew out in the crotch area after only a few months. The jeans fit very comfortably, it is 100% a quality control issue. Sadly, I’ve noticed many big American brands have been having serious quality control issues over the last 5-10 years.
773 This really opened up my eyes to the things I didn't know, and now I can be more confident knowing what I need to improve.
Levis used to offer odd lengths in some models. That made a lot more sizes to fit a lot more men properly, but of course, it also cost more to sustain. Almost 22 years ago in a US military Exchange in Germany, I bought a couple of pairs of 550s in 32x33; they're still in my closet and are still wearable--no blowouts. Length 32 was always too short, and 34 too long. When the odd lengths went away, I bought 34 and cuffed them. Now, with no cartilage left in my knees, I can wear 32 length.
Check the ladies. They usually get 31 and 33.
The Dillard's near me always has length 33 in stock. I'm probably the only person who buys them.
Wow! Super informative! Thank you for an outstanding video
Thanks for this excellent review Its really helpful and informative All the best to you in your website and all you are doing to help guys smarten up
Thanks Antonio. The problem I have with Levis is that they don't have 7 belt loops as other brands do and thats why I don't buy them. Levis please do the public a favor and put 7 belt loops on your jeans as in my opinion you get a better fit with the extra belt loops as in with wearing a belt and being a little overweight, without the extra loops that part of the jeans eventually slips under the belt, I hope I made some sense as to what Im trying to say to Levis, they would certainly increase their sales, cutting corners to save a penny in fabric is not always the best solution. Quality is the name of the game and by not having the extra belt loops you lose business. I have bought cheap jeans at Walmart and they have 7 loops. Come on Levis step up to the plate!
I got 501 jeans that I bought 20 years ago and still no tear and rips . I still buy more nowadays because the style doesn’t change and I’m loving it
How often do you use those 501's and for what purpose Striker
The BEST breakdown of Levis yet. I tried ALL models in a dressing room and have to agree with you, the 513 fits me best and is for us guys with thick thighs or a butt and maybe a little chubb in weight. Awesome, I love my 513s.
Thx for this, def needed it
Levi 531’s are my favorite. But the 502s are great too
Finally! I wear Levi´s only for 10 years. The quality is amazing even with the outlet versions of Levi´s Jeans. Real performance jeans !
Just dont buy them from Ross and Marshall's.
I switched from men's to boys husky with stretch. Love them
never knew i needed the jeans guide.
My favorite Levi's are the 541 athletic taper and I love them so much that I bought every single color of jeans they had and now I don't even waste money on any other brands.
Me 2
Can you do a guide for Wrangler jeans?
The best breakdown ever, when I walk into Macys or the Levi Outlet it's so confusion, so many options, the 511s or 513s works best for me, thanks
1:16 I've worn them all. Levis has heavily been selling relaxed jeans also called athletic jeans at walmart. Bought a few and they started ripping. The athletic jeans are suppose to give you space to run and move without being too tight on crotch and legs by using cheaper material so they break apart easily. Had 3 new relaxed athletic levi jeans break apart after 1 wash. The tapered jeans are actually bell bottom pants and the slim are suppose to be jeans shaped like woman jeans tight on the thighs and crotch.
512 is the best, slim and tapered; perfect with some 1’s or any high top jordans
512 Levi's are brilliant and are my jeans of choice, paired with a Levi's flannel shirt.
Are they 100 % cotton? Do you feel the fabric will hold up some abuse? I need them for skateboarding what you think? I need some space between my legs to get safe landings
@@tomorrowcomestoday1621 not really built for that kind of thing maximum lifespan of this jeans is a maximum of two years.
Yes literally wearing them right now
When It comes to Levi's jeans I love to wear 510 Skinny & Slim fit 511 these two are my fav. jeans from Levi's
I did the style survey. Apparently, I suck but with a good sense of style. At 67 I have one pair of my beloved 560 left from the old days. Good to know I can still get loose jeans even though my style sense says no more jeans.
Even though I'm a big and tall man I still pull off slim jeans. I also have larger thighs. I do leg day too much lol 😂😅
Personally i love all tge different cuts. It gives you options. I normally rock with the slim tapered fit, especially being on the bigger side
Agreed!
a video that was VERY VERY much needed...
Thanks, this is a good guide for the 500 series.
I used to buy my Levi's Jeans at my nearby Macy's and JC Penney stores, but they've all closed. My only option (other than driving long distance) is buying on the Internet which is a roll-of-the-dice on finding the right fit for my odd-body build.
What type of body do you have. I can recomend some. Or how do you like your fits?
They sell Levi's exclusively in the military PXs but are limited to 2 or 3 styles
On visiting the USA I was hoping to purchase a pair of American made Levi's . I was surprised to find out that Levi's are no longer made in the USA .
OMG SO there are many types of Levi's I though just one type 501 Many thanks for the video
Former 501/511 maniac but now love 512 and 510 to match stan smith, superstar and boots so they looks great in fit look.let’s do change and more fresh and young looks.
My all time favourite: Levis 501 CT. Ain't nothing like a pair of 501's already tapered for you.
This is very rare. Specially the 100% cotton here in the Philippines...
Shame they discontinued those.
I fit well in 511 in the dresser and purchased two pairs (dark and light wash). As I was using them I noticed problems with my rear end as they slide down when I sit. The 511 are low rise jeans so if you're a bit on the big side they tend to expose a bit of butt. A firm belt fixes the problem but are not as comfortable. Be sure to fit your jeans also sitting down and squatting.
I also have the same issue on my 511. I want a higher rise jeans with same or similar leg cut. But sadly I find Levi's lineup is too confusing, less color options for some models, and most of the modern fits offer only low rise.
Same. The 511 and 513 fit my legs perfectly but I can't stand the low rise. Unfortunately they don't have any slim fit with medium rise. Might have to check out the 527 since I don't mind a slight boot cut
Same.
Yeah what the hell. The cut is perfect wish it sat higher.
Sweet breakdown on the jeans...🤘🏼💯✔
Thank you so much for this !!
The best 501s were american (we called em Red Tags back in the day). They had straight legs, red stitching in both edges of the burst seam on the outer leg (later copied by Diesel), pocket lining as tough as the denim and fitted beautifully.
YES. A lot better than the crap Levi's stick their name on today.
How about the "Silver Tab"
@@joseplaza5246 I had a pair I bought very cheap in a sale, they didn't fit very well and had tapered legs.
40-50 bucks made in u.s. back then . 60 to 70 made in who knows where now. They feel thinner now too. No thanks on modern day Levis. Plus the are too much into woke activism. So that stops me from buying.
Thanks Antonio! Could you do an ultimate buying guide for the other American classic, Wrangler?
I'll add this to my queue - thanks Jacob!
501 my first Levi’s thanks to Nick Kamen advertisement back in 1985 🙂. Still wearing today, coupled with the 511, great fit. Thanks! 👋
I managed to grab a pair of 511 in a sale one time and its probably best purchase ive made i regards to trousers and pants
Fun fact here: When I was a teenager in the early 1990s and way into the second half of the 90s, the 501 was simply THE jeans to wear - nothing else would be deemed acceptable in the schoolyard. I had several of them in 30/32 and they fit me perfectly. That is why I tried some recently and found them way too loose around the legs, and especially the leg opening. I don't remember them being so wide in the lower legs! I know I could easily wear them over a long shaft boot (which looks really silly if you wear a 511 or, may God forbid, a 510), but they were not that loose. Disappointed I returned them and stuck with 511 and 512 for the past ~10 years (after I ditched my last bootcuts... HA! ;-)
how tall are you?
@@sguxdjwdndjaql I am 1,75. I recently stopped buying length 32 and went to length 30 now. 32 Leg length doesn't work for me anymore.
10 years ago or so, Levis made a line specifically for Brooks Brothers, of all places. And they were excellent! They were a little more on the stylish side than what typically comes to mind when you think of Levis. They offered maybe six different styles and washes that would change somewhat from year to year, ranging from a more plain and basic look, to subtle and elegant, to a stronger, stylish statement. They were all made from a high-quality, heavy-gauge of denim. All very well constructed, and they all had a nice thick leather Levis patch on the back. For anyone in reasonably decent shape, they would flatter. They hung nicely. I bought a pair for my 81 yr old father who rode in a bike club, and they looked great on him. They weren't cheap, $150. And they were exclusive to Brooks Brothers. I still have seven pairs. Still my favorite jeans. I take care of them.
Yo bro what happened to the design where it used to have one back pocket?
I remember these on sale in Kyoto in the Brooks Brothers store, they looked very nice but I wasn't rich enough
Something I didn't see you mention is the video is the Denizen from Levi. I wear the 218 straight fit and the 208 regular taper fit. I consider them the most comfortable jeans I've ever worn. They are great for work where you are constantly on the move. If you have to bend down a lot, walk a lot, or get up and down from your seat often, then I can't recommend them enough. Side Note: I can only find them at retail locations. So getting the right size can be a challenge at times.
Denizen is a budget line from Levi's only available at certain locations (only seen at Target from my experience). Not a bad value but not as ubiquitous as the mainline Levi's in this video.
You did a superb job on this video!
