  • Apparently, Minivans are cheaper to insure and they are far less likely to be stolen. So perhaps look at these aspects where you live and the Sienna may get an additional 2 points. Additionally, because Minivan doors slide - kids in the back are less likely to open the doors (as in an SUV) and bang the door into other cars in parking lots. One more point.

    • I hate the big wheel trend and hope it is over soon. Family cars don't need 20 (or even larger in some cases) inch wheels. They also are bad for mileage.

  • I really appreciated this comparison, as I plan to purchase one or the other for my next vehicle. After your review earlier this year on the "Swagger Wagon", I rented one for a week for a trip to Central Florida. I had combined City & highway driving and got a staggering 40 mpg combined. I was impressed with All of the cargo room. I am disabled and it was much easier to get in and out of than some SUV's. The handling was good. The ride Comfort was tremendous. I have begun my search for one with features that fit my budget. My partner owns a RAV4 and plans to upgrade to the Grand Highlander. So I may share the best of Both worlds. I really do enjoy your reviews and enjoy watching both of you on your KZhead channel. Please continue the great work you do.

  • I watch a lot of auto reviews and rarely does anyone mention seat comfort, especially the drivers seat. That's one of my top criteria for buying a vehicle and is especially important on long drives. Of these two being so comparatively close, the one with the most comfortable seat would win. Maybe comfort is too subjective, but would be great to see you add this to your reviews.

I wonder if the refresh of the sienna will have that max powertrain and the upgraded infotainment system

  • Great review, guys. Gas mpg and room and sound levels do it for me. I own a 2021 XLE AWD and would keep it over the GH, although the GH looks to be a fun power option. Hardly anyone does sound testing and I think that’s so important. Have you sound tested the Platinum Sienna against the lower trims? I’m just curious if it’s got thicker glass. • I have the Second Generation Toyota Sienna minivan (2005) 8 seat configuration. I also have the Fourth Generation Toyota Sienna (2021). The only thing I like about the newer Sienna is its 36 MPG, 600 miles range. Everything else is inferior to my 2005 Sienna. 1. Seats in the Fourth Gen are lousy, cheap, uncomfortable, lack of flexibility and not removable. Toyota should have kept excellent seats from the Second generation Sienna including the soft velour fabrics. 2. 3.3L V6 is silky smooth, non intrusive and quiet with great acceleration without feeling engine being strained under acceleration. 3. Cup holders in the Newer Sienna are too small and almost useless. The front seat cup holders block climate control switches. 4. Interior lighting is insufficient especially cargo area and middle seats. 5. Cargo area is smaller than previous Gens and floor is uneven. My conclusion: the 2 generation Sienna is the best of the 4 generations.At 325K miles, my 2005 Sienna still runs great with its original engine, transmission, cold AC, upholstery, suspension, electric windows, fuel pump, paint etc.

  • We just put a deposit on a Grand Highlander Hybrid XLE. Ultimately it came down to availability; our GH will be in towards the end of April (so a 2 month wait) but the Sienna has an 8 months to year wait. The dealer we bought from was also adding a $2,500 markup up for the Sienna, but we were able to negotiate the GH down a bit. Since we only have 2 kids the GH will work great for us and is still a huge improvement over our 2017 Ford Fusion!

  • Ground clearance? Parking the Sienna means scraping and pulling the bumper. The grand highlander is higher off the ground and includes a spare tire if I am not mistaken. Also, I would argue that the better comparison is not the hybrid max but the standard eCVT 2.5L hybrid grand highlander which has the same power train as the Sienna and nearly identical MPG.

    @vicwiseman6038@vicwiseman60386 ай бұрын
    • I think the ground clearance for the Sienna is around 7 inches. That's a lot for a minivan. I recently read the Odyssey only has 4.8 inches. Other brands have around 6 inches. At 8 inches clearance the Grand Highlander is only about an inch more. That won't make a difference in cities and even fire roads.

      @luperamos7307@luperamos73072 ай бұрын
    • The size is actually the metal wheel size. The larger it is the smaller the width of the side-wall, which is what mostly determines the ride quality and strength of the tire in adverse road conditions, usually 17 or 18 is about the best for me.@@luperamos7307

It would have been a closer fight with the points because you are taking out extra features that would have been offset by the price. • I don't really see people on review sites like Edmunds being all that happy with the Grand Highlander. People usually buy those cars bc of family. The Sienna has sliding doors, better gas mileage and more space. As the driver I would also prefer the SUV and a little more ground clearance, but the Sienna is more practical overall. People just don't like minivans all that much.

  • Sienna is better at hauling people. Better ride quality. Wish they'd upgrade the tech. I disagree about the stigma. There is nothing cooler about an impractical SUV. You're not going to drive it off road. Pretending you are is worse than getting the practical people mover.

  • Not sure if it's true the Mini vans are on decline but if true its like the iPhone vs the Android Syndrome....one clearly a better product feature-wise but doesn't sell as well(FYI, only in US) cause of perception!
