@@Bugaboo-wq5sc in some states, FL for example, bears have recently become overpopulated, so for a brief period they opened a bear season to cut it back some. We are a part of nature too, therefore we have just as much of a right as any other animal to keep it in balance.

eh, these bears seemed ok with the humans being there. Which means they are baited and are used to seeing them. Pretty cheap to hunt that way. Where you pay money to pick a bear you want. I have no problem with hunting but this type of hunting is bullshit.

@JundiAdam I never said that black bears aren't "calm" compared to a grizzly or polar bear. they're also incredibly timid and you could tell they're at least being baited, if not flat out used to human presence, and therefore not timid, but "calm"

None of this discussion seems supported with fact. Baiting is incredibly difficult. Also, it's not a pay-to-play thing, you can go out and do it yourself in many states with over-the-counter tags. It's far more difficult than deer. Takes months of prep and research and scouting, weeks of bait site maintenance, multiple (think 20+) grueling multi-mile hikes (think 6-10+) with 75+lbs of bait going in, meat and hide going out if lucky (often in dangerous conditions and on steep terrain), not to mention many day-long sits at a bait site. And, the bears are certainly not ok with humans being there. It takes camo, knowledge of the wind, concealment in brush, and good luck not to get busted. And, getting busted's the best case scenario. Deer won't ever come up from behind and take a curious nibble with 3+ inch teeth genetically perfected for punting and tearing meat because you smell good from downwind. Now imagine all of the above solo... No one around. No one watching what bear/cougar/wolf is coming up behind you. No one within earshot of a scream. No one within miles. No one to help with the hundred of pounds of bait back and fourth to the bait site. No one to help with the hundreds of pounds of meat back to the truck. No one to help if you fall and twist an ankle or are attacked by a black or grizzly bear or mountain lion or pack of wolves or fall off a cliff or are struck by lightning or stuck out in the woods freezing or trying to escape a wild fire and/or starving and/or lost. My experience is it isn't easy at all. But hey, I'm sure others far more experienced than I have already done all of this and determined it to be "lazy" or "bullshit."

To be perfectly honest I'll agree that it is natural for us to kill bears sometimes because they're sometimes a competing species in the wild but if everyone had your attitude nowadays then every single predator species be would be shot dead and driven to extinction. That would be a disaster to the ecosystem which only makes things worse for us. So please be open to some restraint.

Those bears smell you. I live in an area, I heard a black bear maul a baby deer across the street. No one believes me. We heard the bear ripping it apart. Good job sir.
You can get hunting spray, that neutralize most of human smell because human smell is rooted in one's sweat. The situation was quite dangerous without a semi-automatic rifle, used for shooting Gewehr-43 which is semiautomatic and chambered in 8mm Mauser.

Second shot was reckless
Reckless all the way around ! He should’ve been quicker cycling the bolt & getting another round in chamber ! He spent an eternity getting that 2nd round ready to shoot and then jerked the rifle , maybe tried to fire but had safety on & then seemed to inadvertently fire before adjusting to updated position of bear! Poor rifleman-ship! When taking a close range shot like that with any dangerous game you should always have a buddy with a ready to fire backup rifle !

Also many states have overpopulation issues with animals like bears, so they open a temporary season to lower the population. This is disgusting. I can support hunting for food/conservation, but luring cute bears in with food when they don't feel threatened by you, and shooting them in point blank range and then another time when they're running away in fear is disgraceful.

I'm no hunter but I've watched enough videos to know that was reckless. You typically want to have a sidearm ready to go after you take that shot with the rifle. I thought the bear was charging at him and if he was..he would have been mauled for sure because he didn't even know the bear was charging at him and why didn't he know is because he was reloading his gun. Hints that's why you pull your firearm after that shot with the rifle or follow-up shots. I heard from the professionals it's much faster to pull your firearm then to reload your rifle. That bear was too close and if it chose to attack it would have got that man before he got that shot off the barrel's already on the side of him when he did the second reckless shot now imagine if it was going for him. Sorry for the run-on sentences lol I'm using talk text where you speak into your phone and it just types away. The guy recording new the shooter was going to be done for that's why he panicked lol if that was a grizzly game over he would have had enough life in him to mall both of them and then went somewhere and killed over
A lot of places (such as where i live, Canada) it is illegal to hunt with handguns (so no sidearms) and large game can only be hunted with centerfire ammunition.
True but I don't think the bear would've mauled him to death, but if it was a grizzly he will sustain injuries that would probably be life threatening
Hand guns in Canada are restricted, you can own one, but it requires a special license. With that license you are only permitted to fire it at a certified range, and must notify the police when, where, and time frame when the gun will be in transport. It is highly illegal to use them for hunting, and will get you a very lengthy prison time, and hefty fine. The only way to legally carry a hand gun is if you are a certified trapper, live in a remote area, show that other legal firearms cannot be used because of certain conditions, and are self employed. From what I've heard it is it extremely difficult to obtain, and gets rejected almost always.

8 min 12 seconds is the shot and then the charge. I've watched a few videos of people shooting bears and the bear always seems to take the round or shell and then bolts and the hunter has to fallow up with a second shot. So how dangerous are these bear to hunt? Will they hunt and eat a human? One of my goals is to get a trophy boar and I'm trying to figure out the risk im going to take.
Just go out there and use a 9mm, it'll be enough, trust me. Don't bring equipment, just the 9mm, record yourself, you'll be fine.

As a fellow Hunter I do not support trophy hunting.
I've never been hunting before (but I would like to sometime) and I fully agree. In my mind, there is nothing wrong with shooting an animal to eat, but trophy hunting is kind of pathetic. Mounting a stuffed deer on the wall just to prove you could kill it is sorry and pathetic.

Hunting is legal and for a certain kind, I get it, but I'm glad I'm the type of human being who felt pain for the animal. I felt horrible seeing it get shot, the way it flipped over and tried to get away. It looked shocked and freaked out.... and took a bullet. I would have felt okay if the bear attacked. The bear before it took a look and kept walking, this one was probably going to do the same. A bucket of food out there to lure them in. A sloppy looking second shot, too bad the bear didnt get a piece.

The bear wasn’t guilty or innocent, he was a wild legal game animal, manages species by Fish and Game. The hunter bought a legal hunting license, bear tag, plane ticket, hired a guide and worked his job to pay for all of it, plus paid income and relevant sales taxes. This hunter also worked for his food, not asking for handouts. He likely prefers hunting for his own food, like me, and probably loves fresh organic bear meat, over processed, hormone injected grocery store meat, which people like you buy. You’d also rather pay someone else to kill it for you, cuz you are above that task in life. Kinda like a hired killer and then you take the hardly-moral hypocrite high ground and judge someone else doing it legally, ethically and responsibly. Very typical response and done to death.

Why is there a trash can in the middle of the woods? After reading some of the comments I understand the trash can is full of food to bait the bears. You men claim your hunters and in fact what you did in this video is not hunting. Call it what it is, baiting hungry bears...which should be against the law in my opinion. Real hunters do exactly that,they track and hunt the animal. I worked with a man that tracked and hunted a black bear. He had his prize stuffed and put it in his office in his home. He said when the bear was delivered he began having nightmares, saying the bears spirit came to him. Now this guy is a tough dude, hunted for yrs. but these nightmares really fucked him up. One morning he called the hunting lodge and gave the bear to them, he sold all his guns. He still shoots animals but now it's with a camera and he's pretty good at it. He said the bear taught him the life and spirit of this animal was special and he didn't comprehend this until the bear was dead. If people want to hunt then do that, don't be a jerk like this asshole and bait an animal because it's wrong.

what i have read and heard is when you hunt Bears you should know if you wound them they will charge you... the best way to take out a bear is a direct heart shot or shoot out its shoulders... I am a deer hunter and i prefer a head shot since it is a quick kill and does not destroy the edible meat.
