1:01:00: I'm Vietnamese Montagnard and was born towards the end of the war in Vietnam. My father helped out the SpecOp forces during this time. I ended up losing my family after our village got wiped out in the conflict, and was adopted, and am living now in New Zealand. I was cracking up when you were talking earlier about your childhood, 19:30: as this was practically exactly the same as my childhood at that age. I was heavily into recon work, and those early experiences really helped.
Johnny Eagle guns rocked. M14, 1911’s, old west guns. Man I hadn’t thought of them in a long time!
I always love the movie and media references. I'm a 90's kid and grew up hybrid with outdoor play and video games. 80's kids were certainly the last generation that was 100% outdoor play. Need to revive that.
Watching these guys talk about growing up in the 80s was so awesome. I loved The Fall Guy and Airwolf, and I also played in the woods and had things like inert grenades when I was a kid. I remember working in a dead-end job when Operation Desert Shield and the following Desert Storm launched. I had just gotten into college and thought about dropping out and joining the military. It is one of the great regrets of my life that I did not.
hell yeah u coulda ended up as hamburger in a desert halfway across the world, fighting for Israel. Probably beats your boring ass life today of showing diverse students how to apply for federal aid with videos.
How old are these guys? Never mind I looked it up Jack Carr's 47 and the other guy is 43. I'd bet the younger guy doesn't remember much of the eighties.
Just tried to speak to text night rider theme beat …no luck
I’m not sure Jack or Mike will see this, but I need to thank both of you. You keep me motivated and create content that I love. You both inspire me and give me a drive to be better. I’m this episode you talk about missing out and I did lol. I left USAF SERE and Special Tactics. I regret it every day. Again thank you both so much and know you will always have a huge market.
Jack is one of the greatest military fiction writers since Tom Clancy
😅everything 😮😅😅😅
I’m at 😮😮

Agreed. Right up there with Vince Flynn and Brad Thor. I don't think I could pick one
The Guy you were talking about at the start of this podcast, is Stephen K. Hayes from the ninja boom in the 1980s, he would be great to have on the podcast
I'm 53, I remember being in high school, and reading C.B. Colby books. Who else remembers those?
You two are the only ones I make a point to watch. Not that others are not good at what they have to teach and say. Y’all are just the best at keeping my attention
An pilot is the very last person I'd want to be angry...pilots should be happy.
@@scottsherman5262 lol yeah but you want the gun drivers in a perpetual state of pissed off
Check out mike Ritland. Specifically the Dr. James Mitchell episode.
@@recondolaidy-slayer8468 I’m on it
Socks: you guys need to check out Darn Tough socks from Vermont and MADE in Vermont. Lifetime warranty!!! Yup. A lot of thru hikers wear them. I’ve got 8 pairs. The best. PS: thanks for the awesome books Jack and I loved the class I took with Mike in WA state last year.
Check out farm to feet next, like both.
Life in the 80's. Truly Grateful growing up as a kid.
I love that you mentioned the old Mack Bolan books, I still read some of those today when I get a chance
I read a bunch of them when I was a kid. Fun times.
Same
Mack Bolan. Able Team. Phoenix Force. What fond memories!
Congrats, Jack for hitting 100k Subscribers! Keep Rockin' 🤘
What a great podcast - as a kid of the 70’s and 80’s this one was very relatable!! Love the “analog” years 🙌
Thoroughly enjoyed the conversation with you two, so interesting to hear personal stories. It was nice of you guys to hear you giving props to Ken Block knowing this was recorded before the tragedy that took him away from us. So sad.
The Fall Guy! Hell yea! I remember those shows! 47 here, grew up in 80's & 90's.. Great stuff fella's!
Thanks gents, great conversation. Brought back a ton of memories from my childhood of the 70’s. FYI Point 6 is out of Steamboat CO. I was an ambassador for a year. Excellent stuff!
Great Ep- love the 80’s TV, Movie, Book stuff--we all clearly grew up differently than today’s youth-but there is hope and I see it everyday. My son has been training hard for 18X and his training buddy is going Option 40 in July. My former junior 18B and I have been training them to standard from our day, so they will be hard as woodpecker lips compared to their peers🇺🇸🤙🏼
I was born in 1970. I love the flash back on the memories. I have a battery operated .30 cal on a bipod. I used to set it up in the ditch and defend my home with it! And I hadn't thought about Mack Bolan and the Phoenix Force books in years!
Always good to see glover..cant wait for both yall books
These in-person, face to face pods are my favourite. You and Mike are both great to listen to. Cheers lads, hope to see more of this style going forward!
Love the hat ... it's not an Akubra but nobody is perfect 😆🇦🇺
I support everything Mike Glover. LFG
Mike is wearing shoes so you know it's a momentous occasion...or cold. Thanks for this collaboration. And yes, I miss buying caps at K-Mart. As for socks, there are a couple of manufacturers in NC who do stuff for team sports. Whether they're set up for heavy duty stuff I don't know.
I remember when I was a kid we played with bags of broken glass & flame throwers...& those of us who survived are mostly OK....well, I mean most of us aren't OK. I'm realizing now that not everything we did was better than what's happening today.
Back in the day Kmart had a gun counter.
Do you know what shoes he is wearing?
Great conversation amongst two great guys. Enjoy listening to you both. Keep up the excellent work. Looking forward to both books coming out later this year. Thank you.
Simon & Simon Power Wagon is a great tv truck. The Jaws Blazer is a great movie truck.
Success is the sum of small efforts done daily...nuff said. Stay strong and stay blessed brother
I see Mike Glover, I click.
This podcast literally has touched on every single issue I believe is in important in today's society as an American. We all need to start being more involved with the future of our nation.
People who know leadership... Feels good. Great morale boost!!!! I've always enjoyed these type podcasts!
Gosh dang that truck was bad ass. For what ever reason I thought I remember it being a Bronco.
Yo, Wigwam Socks out of Sheboygan, Wisconsin! Next level, American made socks.
Glover and Carr.....unbelievable perception and forethought. This country needs more of them times ten!
In the Army in the mid70’s I used to lay in my bunk and read the Mac Bolan books. Lol
Love the Delta Force bike conversation. Plus all the 80s stuff. A friend and I were talking about our GI Joe collections on New Years Eve. Awesome! 👍
Nice chat. Love listening to you guys talk about anything.
Great discussion, brought back so many memories from the 70-80's. I remember writing an essay on Green Berets for Grade 11 (1981) History in Canada.
Tks... got me a pre-order! I wish you guys would come to VA Beach! Order one from of you guys.
Great podcast. I met Mike FTF at the Sig Sauer Camp Legion last year in August. So down to earth person who did so much in defense of our country. I was so impressed I gave him one of my challenge coins I had made up from my meager time in the Army. As for audio books. It's the only was I can do a book. If I try to physically read one, it would take for ever. I would read several pages, fall asleep, then wake up and do it again. It's just me and not the author or subject matter.
Awesome podcast! Utah has many of those server farms… plus Dugway being a hop skip and a jump from a metro area also…
great job guys, loved listening to you both discuss Socks, safe journey
Great Podcast. Really enjoyed it. Jack Carr is one of my favorite podcasts to listen to.
Thank you Sirs! Shared.
Just brilliant. Simple meets advanced. Brilliant. These are damn good men.
Two of my favorites together! Good luck on the Gundies!
At the University of Montana they had a course called Soldiers Story Retold. It was a 3 hour a week talk with combat veterans. It ranged from WW2 vets to Desert Storm, even a German POW who was sent to Montana to be held. It was a great influence in my ideas of what a veteran is.
Wow I wish I got to see and hear these stories
I came across this podcast. I loved listening about playing in the 80s. My friend and I would play guns in his two story house it was very fun. I don't remember the orange tips though.
Man you guys are bringing me back to the 80s.Having Flash backs. now I wanna go watch air wolf with my son lol
I really enjoyed this podcast. Especially the message about being positive and not getting caught up in social media toxicity or feeling the need to leave a negative comment. Something I try to do, but can and should get better at. Thank you.
Thsnks for the sock cast. I’ve never I’ve had more in common with two guys I’m not related to by blood. I’ve been looking at Pacas alpaca socks lately for thermoregulation , moisture-wicking , and Odor control in the backcountry.
Great conversation here!
Y’all’s content definitely adds value to my life. Keep up the great work.
So enjoy listening to you two chat! Alaska would love to have you. Get your multi rating, turbine Otter, (tundra tires & skies) & A&P…you are free as a bird! Further north you go the better. Thank you gentleman. Godspeed to you both ✨
Great conversation great guys .
Wow! I never thought I would hear of another kid making that with a model rocket! I wouldn't trade my childhood for anything! Good memories!
My Dad got me a Thompson machine gun with a drum mag.He got it at Chicagos Last Liquor store on the Southside near Indiana border.I also have an autugraphed copy of the First issue Soldier Of Fortune,by Robert K Brown.
Between the 10 and 25 minutes mark I was laughing so hard because I did all that same stuff. I even had a battery powered minni gun. The barrels actually spun and made shooting sounds. I wanted to be sf but have a genetic heart condition that disqualified me before I even got started. So I paid for my training over a decade since the government wouldn't have me. Guess you could call me home guard. Anyway I enjoy listening to you fellas discuss things
I did all the same stuff too lol
In the early 90's I brought a diffused pineapple grenade to 4th grade show-and- tell. Man was she pissed and I had to see the principle but he was just like, "boys will be boys," and just held it till the end of the day so my parents could pick it up. Something like that would make the world news with SWAT teams, bomb squads, and being sent to juvenile detention etc. etc.
Memorial Day was a great movie about a grandpa foot locker from WW2 @1:18:26
Wind gate and rag doll comment was from the movie Uncommon Valor (Gene Hackman, Fred Ward, Tim Tomerson, Patrick Swayze)
Awesome talk guys!
The nostalgia in the first 20mins is awesome
The Ram Powerwagon from Simon & Simon would decimate all! #43Forever
Rest in peace Ken Block! its a terrible start to the year. by the sound of the mention near the end of the podcast, this was recorded before his death on 2nd Jan. its a real damn shame and robbed the world of an icon. its a great episode overall though could listen to you guys talk for hours and hours
I’m pretty sure the toy gun Jack is thinking of was replica broom handle mauser. Buddy had one as a kid and it came with the detachable stock.
I had a Man from UNCLE P38 with all the attachments -- shoulder stock, scope, suppressor, extended magazine. Toys kicked ass in those days.
Congrats on 100k subscribers!!!
Awesome episode with two of my favorites, loved it! Check out darn tough socks btw 😉
Guys - Awesome podcast!! I watched every single minute of the 2.59! I am a big fan of both you Jack and Mike. I am up to date on all your books and have trained in PA with Field Craft Survival... Being intentional registered with me as I wear both of your clothing lines. I really enjoyed this time tonight... Lets do it again talking about leadership or building a brand ... something both of you are experts in.. WOW!!! great night.. Thank you
Two solid men here 🫱🏻🫲🏼🇺🇸
The PETER PRINCIPLE... people ascending to levels, one step above their best levels of competence. Our sytemic methods of promotion continue to promote people to levels beyong their abilities. The phenomenom needs to be known, and anticipated. Every level needs to be qualified and tested. The nation deserves as much.
Cool nice to know that this pod cast is just your store front
I agree with you guys talking about buying products in America. I also agree that I just like when people try to shame you for not buying American. Especially when most of the American companies get their parts from overseas. So basically, it is OK for them to keep their overhead in check. But when it comes to you saving money so that you can have a better budget to provide for you and your family. It’s not OK. I also try to make sure the things that I buy is American. but when you live on a budget. Sometimes things don’t work out that way. Both of you, keep up the good work. Keep putting out content that is healthy and entertaining for anyone at any age.
Blue Thunder, Dukes of Hazzard, Air Wolf , Fall Guy … all bad ass!
Half way in im lovin these stories
I sort of lost contact with this podcast, life, yt algorithms. Mr. Carr, despite what your detractors mutter, you are NOT 'just another SEAL , who writes books.' Thank you for this. As for your guest, the most complete warrior/ soldier I've encountered on these military themed shows. Uncommon...
11:03 FACTS.
I know the store Mike is referring to in Daytona Beach that had the videos. G. I. Jeff’s. On mason ave. I grew up there as well.
I am restoring a Fall Guy truck for a friend of mine right now, I will send some pics when its done. #I miss the 80s!
Definitely check out Darn Tough socks out of Vermont
think youre right around 29:00 re many feeling regret at the lack of answering the call. another problem is many dont even recognize the call exists - or for them it doesnt exist
I just pre-ordered Mike's book
I must apologize for not knowing about your channel until November last year but since then I can't stop watching your videos and your intros are always awesome and funny. I have to my favorite Intro is your April fools intro or maybe the one where u borrow the 50 cal from demo just as he gets the notification about blowing up a 50 cal
@Jack, the 4Runner is made in Japan (unfortunately). That said, I have a 4Runner and LOVE my 4Runner; it can take me anywhere I want to go and I know it's capabilities to the very limit!
Just because you were in the military, does not mean you are a good leader or should be in Congress. Two examples are John McCain who was absolutely terrible. The other is Dan Crenshaw, I live in his district and no longer vote for him. He has proven he does not care about his constituents at all. He constantly votes against our interests.

Well said. Plug for BRCC right away reminds us of another one that is sadly from a business standpoint. Represents as patriotic and is anything but. Sadly.
Luckily, Adam Kinzinger was re-districted out of a job before he could drive home how big a piece of crap he could be.
Completely agree
Thanks guys. This was really interesting. Great topics. Ken Block, what a tragedy. I wanted to be him and spend my life driving. Please keep writing Jack your books are awesome. All the best to you both in your future endeavours.
This sounds like pals catching up over a beer down the vfw, authentic conversation.
Great podcast gentleman 💪
Happy New Year to the both of you Shadow Warriors, David Glover and Jack Carr, great episode to start the year 2023. As a 80s kid, I love A Team, Knight Rider, Tour of Duty, Magnum. P. I., G. I Joe cartoon series, Mach Bolan series, Able Team and Phoenix Force, Delta Force movie and I played outside, what a great time to be a kid
Mike Glover.
@@BigDaddyChiinAZ I correct it, Mike Glover
Awesome podcast. Love listening to you and Mike Thank you for your service to this great country PS - please always set your cowboy hat down on the crown.
Good to see Mike wearing shoes!
Just pulled up Airwolf on Tubi. It’s still available! Man the childhood memories
Omg you had the blue batt powered mp5too! Me n brother had em and some Mac-10s…fed hose into water mags….classic
You guys are awesome
good vibes.
"I brough it to school" made me snap me in a listening state real quick
Both of you need to come to Colorado Springs on your book tours. We are a huge military community, and I am quite sure you have a large following here.
They should hit AAFES/NEX exchanges around the country.
Kick ass podcast guys!!!!
Airwolf was an awesome show
In AF basic training they came to my class and asked who wanted to join the PJs. I wanted too but I didn't stand up. I've regretted that I didn't stand up. Only if we could go back
I have a 12in GI Joe of a Navajo Code Talker. Came with a USMC code talker patch and its battery operated with actual coded phrases
