  • I love chimps but they are unpredictable, aggressive, and as strong as 5 grown men. When humans hit puberty, our mood and behavior become increasingly unpredictable, this is only exaggerated when it comes to chimps. Unfortunately, it stands as no question that Noah is a ticking time-bomb. You can never fully "humanize" a wild animal, even if it is as intelligent and sophisticated as an ape. Edit: I was wrong about chimps being 5x as strong as humans. Realistically, they’re closer to 1.5x as strong.

  • I am a primatologist, I work with chimps. In our research we see the same pattern: 1) person loves wild animals, gets a baby that is somehow unethically allowed in a US state or contry that does not have strict concerns for wildlife 2) baby grows, pet chimpanzees live deprived of conspecific contact - doesn't learn how to be a chimp 3) gets strong enough to harm a human 4) spents the rest of his life moving from one facility to another trying to adapt in a sanctuary (if lucky enough) or caged in someone's garage. Oh, I forgot: the person insists he/she loves the chimp and is giving all he needs but denies consistently that keeping wildanimals as pets fuels illegal trade. Despite considerable research on this. Channels should stop showcasing this to help wild species. Certain countries like the US are so far behind. You can't educate people enough.... there should be laws.

    @Gabistruwwelliese@Gabistruwwelliese4 жыл бұрын
    • Exactly. I hate when they give these people a platform. So what happens to them when she dies? People that say they love them, actually love how they make them feel by filling whatever void they have in their lives. If you really truly loved them then you would not force them to live as pets. The fact that this is 2020 and is still allowed widely just blows my mind. They're just a commodity.

  • This looks cute now..... but answer this question: Where are their mothers? They are either in a cage somewhere, or killed so their babies could be taken. CHimpanzees would normally still be with their moms at this age, males never leave the group they were born into. Not only that, they will become unsafe to be around in a few years. This will happen to all chimps, no matter how sweet tempered. Because they cannot be integrated easily with other chimps because they have never learned how to be one, their fate is often solitary confinement in a cage. No rescue would ever allow chimpanzees to be raised like this, just ask Jane Goodall.

No matter how tame or how used a wild animal is to the human world, it will still have natural instincts, unless it's a domesticated animal, in which that case it's been altered genetically to breed a tamer, less aggressive version. But chimps aren't domestic animals, they're wild animals, so they still have those natural instincts intact in their genes, moreover, a chimp is a fairly aggressive animal, they're extremely territorial and are even more aggressive than gorillas. Of course individual chimps must have some genetic variations between each other, but that variation isn't on the instincts. Instincts are concrete behaviours that's kept unchanged within the genes of any individual of a species. So, yeah all chimpanzees, even the ones that live with humans, still have the instincts to tear someone's arm and rip someone's face
