  • I rather think that... it's not what comes our way that's important, it's how we react to what comes our way. And our re - actions determine our character. I loved this movie and how softly Brad played it... in Benjamin's search for significance.

  • This is an amazing analysis, and it's so disappointing that it isn't more well known, much akin to my feelings about the movie. I even like how you use the man who was struck by lightning seven times to add even more examples of this theme in the movie. Absolutely splendid.

  • I became obsessed with Brad Pitt's career after Fight Club. He's like the thinking person's Tom Cruise. Here's a guy who is incredibly good looking and incredibly bankable for production studios who is acting in movies that have a great surface value but also a very deep meaning within them that you can mull over for days, weeks, months or even years. He could have just done the former and had a successful career. I think Button was the first movie of his I watched after FC and had high hopes. And although it didn't hit me as viscerally as FC did (I mean come on, Chuck) there's still a lot to dig into here. This is a good short analysis. Life is totally chance or chaos whatever you want to call it. Benjamin living his life backwards highlights all of our lives as we live them normally. Using love as the focus. How often have we all been in that situation where the timing was just not right. Love the thought that we have no control over the way or lives pan out, who we might meet, what might happen to us and when. I mean you could leave the house right now and completely change your life just by something that happens by coincidence. The scene that hit me the most in this movie though was just after Benjamin had become too young for Daisy, and she too old for Benjamin. There's a 60 second monologue where he explains what control you do have: For what it's worth it's never too late Or in my case too early To be whoever you wanna be There's no time limit, start whenever you want You can change or stay the same There are no rules to this thing We can make the best or the worst of it I hope you make the best of it I hope you see things that startle ya I hope you feel things ya never felt before I hope you meet people with a different point of view I hope you live a life you're proud of And if you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again

  • There’s definitely an element of serendipity in this beautiful film and in life. Unfortunately there are always predatory men who abuse their power, to sabotage your life by any means necessary for their own self needs - all under the guise of “care and concern”.

  • Its our fate to be controlled by coincidence, and its a coincidence that we are all bound by fate. Life is all about contradictions. Benjamin was from a universe where tails is heads, and heads is tails. The backward ticking clock created a contradiction in its own universe, inadvertantly birthing benjamin into the wrong universe. He was supposed to be born into a world where the norm is to be born old and die young. Another benjamin was born into that universe but was born young and died old like we are used to. The system glitched because of the clock. Yet both Bens, and all Bens, learn the same thing in the end. Your are in control because you have no control. If you keep any conversation going long enough you will end up at this contradiction and loop yourself back through it again. It doesnt make sense because it makes sense. It makes sense because it doesnt make sense. Aaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!hhhhhhhgggggggggaaaaaaA
