One thing I noticed when I was trying to speak Italian in Italy as a non-native speaker was that they always responded back to me in English, even if I was certain I said it correctly and had a decent accent lol. They just knew I didn’t speak fluently right away and would respond in English. I get it bc they’d rather have the conversation go more smoothly than deal with my broken Italian, but it was disappointing bc I wanted to practice! There were a few people that did try to converse in Italian with me though and I appreciate them.

@@vaidhyar6882 there were still people that spoke back to me in Italian and I’m sure if I had said “no I’d love to practice and speak Italian with you” to those that didn’t, they probably would have done so. I just typically just let it go when it happened and it was just my observation. So don’t let it discourage you! Definitely take any chance you can to have real conversations in a language you’re learning with someone who is fluent/knows some of the language

I was in a tourist town and I think a lot of native Italian speakers there were mostly fluent already and used to English speakers visiting and just spoke English back as a way to help out/move the conversation along even if I didn’t ask them to speak English. But you’re right! They may have wanted to use their second language or practice with me. And it definitely was helpful for when I didn’t understand them or know how to say what I needed to.

As someone who studied french for like 6 years, mad respect for ashley. It takes SO much courage to talk to native speakers. I went to Paris and everytime I tried to practice French, people kept responding back in English lolll rip 😳 8:38 I BURST OUT LAUGHING WHEN KELLY SAID "I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND" LMAOOO

Lmao I'm literally studying French in uni and we were taught that je suis excité means I'm excited😂😂🤡 Thank you for the information, I don't think I'd be able to handle the embarrassment of saying 'I'm horny' to French people✊
In reality, it just depends on the context. If you look at the definition it does have the two meaning of being excited (to go somewhere/ to do something) and to get turned on (if you say “you make me excited” for exemple). But if you’re not sure, better stick to “je suis enthousiaste / heureuse de…” (I’m excited to…), “j’ai hâte / je suis impatiente de…” (I can’t wait to…) and “tu me donne envie de….” (you make me excited/ want to…).
It was a little info I was wanting to share :) if you look up “faux amis” there are a list of words that are not used the same way here in France. I have now lived in France for 11 years and I rarely use exciter, however dont mind me :) you might get a nice French surprise! @Liss V all the best learning, it is a beautiful language!
Well no, « excité » have 2 meanings and you can totally say « je suis trop excité d’aller à Disneyland » Lot of people just have a dirty mind. I’m French btw and I use « excitée » quite a lot.

Je vais aux États-Unies et j' ai jamais été en France ou dans un autre pays francophone mais je compte visiter un bientôt. Je parle le français très bien, ma femme aussi vient de paris. But speaking a language is deeper than that. Some grammatical words can be made without being aware of them. It's not that the person doesn't speak it or not good at sharing her thoughts, rather It's part of the human nature. We make mistake. So for Christ' sake don't ever say that because you can break someone's heart apart without fully acknowledging the situation and even worst when that person isn't even from those countries where French is spoken.

As a french speaker (non-native but french is my main language) I can say that Ashley's accent is incredible. Like I've saw so many strangers and touristes try to speak this language, even people who have been here for years and their accent was so bad. Ashley accent is really good for a non-fluent speaker and her sentences are always understandable and even correct. Bravo !
