Exploring San Salvador | Extreme Land-Based Fishing - Original Film

In this original BlacktipH film, we explore a new island in the Bahamas (San Salvador), searching for great fishing spots. Josh and Preston have never been to San Salvador before, and they are on a mission to catch a wahoo from shore! The first day was spent exploring the island and finding the best fishing locations. On the second day, we explored the northern coastline of San Salvador, fishing on huge rock cliffs, and I caught a new species of grouper, a Nassau Grouper. Some of these rock cliffs were over 50ft! After a few casts, Preston and I started hooking fish. We caught snappers and jacks. We moved to the island's most northern point, and I hooked a monster! After an intense battle, I landed a giant Nassau Grouper, his first-ever of that species. This fish was an incredibly impressive catch on 10lb test. We returned to Riding Rock before heading down to the island's south side. I hooked another triggerfish, the biggest one I had ever seen, and this was by far the biggest triggerfish I had ever caught! We ended the day cleaning the fish and playing with the sharks at the marina. On the third day, we went fishing using kites from the beach, searching for a giant wahoo, and caught something we didn't expect! The day began by putting up the red kite, and after a few attempts, it was clear that we needed to switch to the white kite. Preston caught a small baitfish, and I got the white kite in the air- hooked up the bait, and sent it out to the deep blue sea (hundreds of feet in depth). The weather and wind made this challenge much more difficult! We caught many beautiful reef fish behind Riding Rock Resort. On the fifth day in San Salvador, I hooked a monster fish that nearly spooled me at Riding Rock Marina. Preston and I started the day off searching for mutton snappers. After catching several fish, we headed to Riding Rock Marina to catch a Cubera Snapper. I hooked a monster fish, which ended up being a huge Caribbean reef shark! On the final day of fishing, Preston and I have only one day left on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas, and it will be our last attempt to catch an offshore fish species from the land. We got to the island's south side in the morning, but the wind direction wasn't working for us. We came back later that afternoon, and the conditions were excellent! We deployed our baits, and after an hour, we hooked our second fish of the day. This fish stayed on the surface the entire fight. It was 100% an offshore pelagic species. After an intense battle, a shark stole our victory and ate our fish!
