  • Boycott Tyson Foods and the brands it operates including Jimmy Dean, Hillshire Farm, Sara Lee, Wright Brand, Aidells, and State Fair. Tyson Foods is the world's second largest processor and marketer of chicken, beef, and pork.

Why would they take a chance of their families being left vulnerable while they are locked up? The illegals are everywhere at this point, how many citizens are stepping up to stop the government from housing them in their communities? • I know this "In 2018, China imported more than 117 billion pounds of pork1. This massive import volume reflects China’s need to meet its domestic pork consumption, driven by its large population. Iowa’s Pork Production: Iowa is a key player in pork production within the United States. In 2018, Iowa produced over 9 billion pounds of pork1. The state’s favorable climate, abundant grain supply, and efficient farming practices contribute to its substantial pork output. Trade Relationship: Iowa exports a significant amount of pork to various countries, including China. In 2018, Iowa’s pork exports totaled more than $2.1 billion, making it a crucial revenue source for the state2. China is among the leading value export markets for Iowa pork. Smithfield Foods Acquisition: In 2013, a Chinese firm called Shuanghui International acquired Smithfield Foods, an iconic American pork company. The acquisition, valued at $7.1 billion, remains the largest-ever Chinese purchase of an American company. Smithfield Foods, known for its holiday hams, was deeply rooted in U.S. tradition and owned part of Main Street in the town of Smithfield, Virginia. The takeover stirred both patriotism and concerns, but it exemplified China’s strategic global buying spree, especially in the food sector3. In summary, China’s voracious appetite for pork has led to significant trade relationships with pork-producing states like Iowa, making it a critical player in the global pork market."

The farmers who sell to Tyson should form co-ops around the country .The Internet makes it more possible to take out that " middleman " . A little bit more work gives everyone ( outside of corporations ) a little more freedom .

Those in urban areas need to Google things like, Farm Fresh, Farm to Market, Farms in my area, etc and make contacts, buy as local as you can. Be aware most small farms do not get Gov. subsidies so they have to charge you what things actually cost to produce. I know a lot of folks don't have the funds to buy right but those that do, please shop responsibly.

  • The reason why people don't buy directly from farmers is because it is really hard to find the correct information to find the real farmers. There is a lot of misinformation or direction to buy from corporations. I have thought I was buying a local farmers but it was not. I found out it was corporation owned pretending to be a small farmer. So it's hard to do the right thing.
