Today we checked out BlackPink’s title track for their 2nd studio album, Born Pink, ‘Shut Down’. I personally really enjoyed the new sound from them, and the music style fit their voices wonderfully. BlackPink proved once again, they can put out anything and it will still be a hit no matter what! While we wish the music video showcased new elements, it was still nice reflecting and seeing how much the girls have changed over time.
I can’t wait to check out their album!!!

Honestly, this song and MV was such a nice sendoff to their previous eras as they move onto new horizons 💖 ...Not to mention all the savage lines like "It's not a comeback since we never left" and "Keep talking and we shut you down" 😭🔥. Telling haters/doubters off while also paying homage to their music and elevating themselves, love it. Also, think of it this way, if Pink Venom was an homage to iconic hip-hop artists then Shut Down is quite literally an homage to themselves. Nothing wrong with honoring your past work, and I love how instead of straight up copying old sets, they actually upgraded them for this new MV. Oh! And the Doberman you see in the MV with Lisa is actually hers! His name is Love!! Part of the L Family 🥰 The album as a whole was also so nostalgic and fresh for me! It's sonically different from their previous album and the most versatile thus far from the girls 👍

This was very different but honestly one of my favorites from them fr. That sample with the beat got me hooked immediately. On top of that jennie and Lisa rap didn't disappoint me here. I agree tho with ur sister, I'm not a big fan of homages to past mv's or bringing up that "we're back" type of lyrics; I wanted something much more than that but it's okay because the album is pretty alright imo.
I mean, before their world tour starts, this was essentially their last album if they don't renew as a group next year. So if anything, I think it was fitting that they did something like this. I know you can basically interpret this whole song and MV as honoring their past eras and having a nice sendoff for them before moving up (literally) to a new era. But if not, then it was a nice piece to successfully celebrate their work and music journey 👍
BORN PINK IS THE BEST ALBUM OF 2022
I felt that the MV was about them telling us that their past is done and they are looking forward to the new. They are literally shuttering all their iconic previous work down and moving forward. imho.
Exactly Shut Down was a prime example of this reaction. "We Shut you Down" Say they Love Blackpink but want different but didn't want something different. Born Pink is our Queens all grown up and bad asses and Shut Down showed that. I can't wait for the both shows in LA. I'm a lucky one going to both shows.
@@steve15170 Wow! I was lucky enough to get tickets to one day. The first day!! Back when we all thought it was the only day for LA for the entire West Coast 😂 you're so lucky!! But yeah, I can't wait to see them November 💖
@@lalalalisa41 yeah I couldn't resist once they announced the second show. Tickets for 2nd show were more during pre-sale but was totally worth it. Just wish could've got Blink experience but was sold out both days before I got in.
@@steve15170 Lol I was exhausted from the Sunmi concert the day before tickets went on sale and because I was so stressed about it, I literally didn't sleep after coming home! Then when I was in, I barely managed to get a pair because everything just kept turning grey. A few minutes after I secured tickets, everything just sold out. I think that was honestly the most stressful ticket buying experience of my life thus far. Only other time that came close was when I discretely got BTS tickets during a jury deliberation 😂
@@lalalalisa41 yes it was stressful especially for 2nd show. Every seat I picked it would say someone got it. Took picking 12 different times but finally was able to get it.
They SHUT IT DOWN This song throws SO much shade at their haters and doubters. The MV is an homage to previous MVs, it's jam packed with visuals and lyrics you have to watch it over and over to discover things. This is why they are where they are. IT'S GREAT💖 FYI - That is really Lisa's dog named LOVE
I only realized this after a few replays of the video, they were shutting down those old videos, if you noticed Jennie and Lisa closing down their parts and Rosé and Jisoo on their own chamber or storage too..and at the end part, elevator is going up, next level.
Mostly all black reactors and white males loved the track probably because they get and appreciate hip hop 🤷🏾♂️ the beat , the flow the rap the bars was on point throughout the song
Yeah I noticed that too and I wanted to see something and i played it to my friends that don’t really to kpop and they were loving it a lot lol maybe some people want more of the pop or kpop usual sounds but this song and the album are really amazing.
yesss haha i'm a white female but i loveeed it because hip hop is my favorite genre and also favorite within k-pop. the past few years of kpop releases have been so experimental and some lowkey don't even sound like music lol so this was very refreshing to hear and i loved it immediately
The sample was so good. The hip-hop meets classical is a trend i hope continues
and this my friends is what lyrics can be so important that could make a video visually related aside if they made use of their old music video visuals from that specific era of everything that have put outfox me this new era they are going for comes with everything
I absolutely love this song and album. Yes it's something different, but all 4 girls rapping was ❤🔥. This album is going to be very popular in the world and I'm seeing them win best album on the grammy's with this.
I love this song soo much. I like that it’s so different. Pink venom took soo long for me to get into & even tho I like it now i think they have done better. This was unexpected & for me the best song on the album.
shut down was the introduction of their new concept and style in terms of music and mv so thats explained this mv where they brings back the legend scene from the previous mv .

Loved your reaction. Try this on...they ae shutting the door on their past videos all the records they set and introducing the new Blackpink, which is setting new records. At the end Rose' says "keep talking we shut you down", shutting down the haters. Every scene is similar to an old MV from "Ddu du du Ddu du du", "Boombayah", "Playing with Fire", "Whistle" to name a few. They shut the door on all of those in one garage and later they are in a new, pristine garage which is for their new MVs.
Seems like no one is considering why… the top Girl Group in the world with a nearly unlimited budget and talent pool would take viewers through a visual history of their past hits and then.. Title a song SHUT DOWN.?? Keep the video visually simple so the focus was on them ?? This song while being somewhat savage towards the haters was also a celebration of their achievements? You might only be doing something like that when you’re saying goodbye.. they are going on an insane tour schedule and if I’m not completely mistaken doesn’t their contract end around the same time?? While I consider them to be some of most talented performers in the world.. I see two things in this video.. like a said a celebratory goodbye message, coming well in advance of them making an announcement or… they are closing the chapter on their pst K-pop success and starting a new chapter outside of the control of the control, restrictions, and toxicity of some of the K-pop community and anti-fans. The line where Jisoo says the cost isn’t cheap. I think the message is the price of fame it’s not cheap.. and all the craziness of that scene is behind her now .. if they are to disband, these girls have paid their dues and then some.. we should support them whatever they decide the next chapter to be.

it's one way to put it. i realise it now - the double meaning of the song. you are right. although i don't want them to disband yet. i feel like they're focusing more on doing solo works more than ever if they choose to stay as a group. i'm 90% sure they will not disband next year based on their rolling stone interview. im expecting a better contract for them next year. we might not see them put out an album for more than 2 -3 years after this cuz of solo jobs.

It's really new side of them since they are staring new era (you can see it in the mv after they it shutdown all went to elevator UP which means they are going up in different floor) I think you guys should react to their full album and you guys will see those diffrent side of them more level up, since they are starting the new era (pls do listen to uncensored version since you guys for sure not minors) 😁

the blonde girls "critique" (if you could even cal it that) is way off and baseless. you can not like the song, because people have preferences, that part i have no issues with. but her reasonings as to why she didnt like it made no sense. just say its not your cup of tea and go, dont have to make up baseless excuses because u didnt understand the reasoning behind including visual representations of their past hits. the title shut down has multiple meanings including closing the door on their past and starting a new era. Its why Jennie and Lisa literally shut down those garage doors in the mv. Its metaphorical. BP is at a point in their career where if they released another D4 theyd have people like blondie complaining about "rehashing old styles", and if they put out something new or different like SD which is more hip hop based than the usual cookie cutter k-pop tune, blondies all over will STILL find reasons to hate on it. And i guess Its to be expected when an artists reaches the heights BP has.

It’s a laid back arrangement. A more matured arrangement compared to their earlier works. A fitting evolvement from the earlier style which obviously they shouldn’t keep repeating. It kinda makes duu duu duu sound childish like Baby Shark now lol.

Some people theorise that the reason they put all their past mv in this one is because it's their last song, imo they are showing us that they are moving on from their past and as you see in the end they walk into a new garage ready to be filled with more mvs

I missed your sister getting the chair from the other room...you two started something which is now expected 😂. Tbh I think I like shut down a bit better than pink venom. The song just really grows on you quick like pv. Kpop should continue to sample classical music cause it's fire. One thing tho...please get that jennie hunters hat and Lisa's bucket hat for a reaction. That would be amazing...kpop needs more hats and glasses in the mvs, I'm a fan of both. Great reaction.
If you guys read the lyrics you'd understand why they referenced their past videos. They're making a statement and it's very intentional.

Think of how all those old things were changed... the tank upgraded, Jisoo going from photographers threatening her to taking her own selfies, the car upgrades, the world already fully blackpink... etc... and then the ending message of we did all that, but we are done with it and moving on and up. I don't think "look at our old stuff" is the point here.
For songs on other tracks of BLACKPINK, please react. This new song includes more ballad style songs, sad songs, and teen pop style songs. But it's almost a song with a strong hip-hop beat. Especially, Rosé's solo song. hard to love is a very good song. Please react to other songs as well. All songs are title songs..
someone finally noticed jisoo’s lower register!! She sounded so good and I wish we heard more of her voice in the chorus. I feel like out of the members, jisoo’s voice was my favorite in the chorus and fit the most

You’d probably appreciate the homages if you actually understood the story they were telling. Makes a difference. In the end, there’s always somebody bitching about the song or the video and this song is for them(antis, haters, bitchers, moaners, gripers). Some how people would’ve done it differently or preferred it had this sound and not this way all whilst sitting in their basement bedroom in their parents house, one hand on the mouse the other up their nose. Its amusing everyone can do it better.

Don't know much about YG BLACKPINK. No drinking no smoking no drug and hard-working pays off. AC/DC Highway to Hell in the 80s Led Zeppelin touring in the 60s and Lynyrd Skynyrd not to mention the Beatles in Hamburg. No Internet you had to get out there and pound the pavement.
