  • Not every puzzle can be a 10 out of 10 or even challenging. Sometimes you got to have a puzzle for people who are still learning to puzzle.

    • brute forcing a slider configuration isnt learning how to puzzle. its learning how not to puzzle.

  • Reminded me of lock picking. The method used in the solve is exactly what a pick is about. Move the pins to the proper location to remove the mechanical detent.

  • As long as the box is well made, the puzzle doesn't need to be difficult. Just needs to look nice and keep the kids/parents out of your stash (of candy).

  • This is virtually identical to a puzzle box I made for my grandsons ! Except that mine had moulded deep relief resin designs all over the lid.

    • @@enricopallazzo3244 So would I - It's in the grandkid's house, probably buried under a ton of toys in one of their rooms. I wish I'd taken photos of it. The design for the lid, I carved from a slab of plaster-of-Paris which was identical in size to the lid. I then made a silicone mould from this and poured a slab from polyester resin. Then I hand-painted it in Acrylic paint. I do still have the silicone mould. The actual box, I bought from Ebay, ready-made, but made the internal mechanism from scratch. The only real difference was that my four square section sliding bars were at 180 degrees to the ones in this video, and they slid through slots in wooden strips that were fixed across the underside of the internal box. The holes in the outer box were horizontal slots so you had to slide the bars sideways in the slot, not longways. The internal box had a lid on one side, fastened closed by a magnet.

  • Puzzle looks awesome and doesnt seem too difficult either...it seems though that the sliders just have to be in the correct positions which doesn't seem hard to figure out....Constantine always has great puzzles. Awesome Video as always Mr P...Thanks.

  • This does seem a lot like picking/decoding locks. You literally can do similar things to many of those locks you see on briefcases and similar locking devices. I suppose there is a reason that many people see locks as a type of puzzle.

  • Don' like it because it's one of the 'try and try' boxes. Eventually, by just shaking it in the right direction, it will open. The wood, however (mahogany?), was awesome!

  • Now that sparked an idea. An incredibly complex looking puzzle with all the bells and whistles. But you can solve it by finding a secret slider and aligning the puzzle the right way. It’s the perfect troll.

    @MAGA_Extreamist@MAGA_Extreamist6 ай бұрын
    • Not always. To brute force can also mean to do something not in the manner you are supposed to. For example: "I am going to brute force this number lock combination" means to try every possible number combination until you get the correct number without knowing it beforehand.

      @ChronoAegis@ChronoAegis6 ай бұрын
