  • was so good to see Landa cooking today, he was really strong. Let that man into the kitchen ! Tadej of course in stellar form, too. I know it's early but I do think he's taken a step up compared to last year, it's making me very excited for that TDF battle.

    @bbuuttercupp@bbuuttercuppАй бұрын
    • Comparing to Paris Nice, I wonder if Landa is stronger than remco atm, in the mountains. I'm not sure Remco would have been ahead of Landa today if they weren't team mates of course.

      @Dieterdde@DieterddeАй бұрын
    • 100% agree. Landa is also probably a more consistent climber than Remco (as we saw last year in the vuelta)

      @pythor2117@pythor2117Ай бұрын
    • @@Dieterdde I think about this as well - I think it's hard to judge this early of course but I do think Landa is so, so strong especially in the third week. That performance on Angliru from him is always on my mind.. I could see them trying to keep Landa up there in GC while using him as superdomestique, much like UAE did with Yates last year, and for the case that Remco isn't as consistent

      @bbuuttercupp@bbuuttercuppАй бұрын
    • @@Dieterdde Remco still seems on that strange thing where he comes a bit overweight in order to maximise his performance in the time trial, and then hopes to lose the extra weight before comes mountain time. Didn't work last year but maybe I see how it could work on a three weeks race, but there's no way it works in a one week race. Although, I think he is more likely equipped than Landa in mountain too just because of his ability to explode. Landa might be better in steep gradiants and all that right now, but the new meta seems to be to be able to have quick insane bursts and sustained efforts on long climbs, and to be able to go all out in the last kilometer in easier climbs to put time into the rest of the field, and I don't see Landa being explosive enough to compete with the Vingegaard/Pogacar/Roglic in that type of efforts, at least not as well as Remco.

  • I'm starting to think the giro won't affect him much. Given his competition there he can do a couple of stages hard then just sit on it. Once he has a 2 mins or so the rest of the field won't bother attacking for 1st, it'll be like his 2nd TDF win. So 2 hard efforts and 19 days of training for TDF.

    • Remco's problem is that he lacks the consistency in 3-wk races. And you are right he is a bit too punchy and too trigger-happy sometimes. On a good day Remco might be on the same level as the two gods, but that's like 10% of his days. While the other two are almost always on that level. Of course Remco is extremely good at TT, but the other two are not too bad either...

  • Dude is super healthy right now. Look at his skin. It’s super clear, no acne, no cold sores. Look last year at the tour and other times when he’s looked more human. Skin health is over body health/immune system health. This guy is legit dangerous and at full capacity right now. Jonas wouldn’t beat him in this current state. Could be an interesting season if he wins the giro with very little effort let’s say giving a 6-7/10 effort

    • Agreed. I was just thinking that. This is the most boring GT usually in my opinion but this year it's going to be especially boring.

  • It was just a training ride for Pog

    @Totalavulsion@TotalavulsionАй бұрын
  • He, and other riders often turn off the headunit/end the ride before the tops of climbs so the efforts don't appear on Strava leaderboard segments (at least I'm well educating guessing). Even with power hidden, some riders just don't like sharing anything on strava

    @mstrasser@mstrasserАй бұрын
    • They can also not share their ride on Strava, no?

      @adshdhhhd7783@adshdhhhd7783Ай бұрын
    • @@adshdhhhd7783of coruse. Tadej posts hiding some data, but he posts. some riders just stopped (like VDP). I remember after the TdF Stage 9 Puy du Dôme climb trying to nerd out on the strava data i could but not all riders' finish times were captured for the KOM Leaderboard, and some rides were "shorter"

    • To not enhance doping suspicions?

      @Lotschi@LotschiАй бұрын
    • @@Lotschi i've always assumed the hidden power and HR data was to not tip off their abilities / limits for other teams vs doping. so for ex if you were able to see that x rider was doing on a climb 7wpk and was in the red HR, or they could only max HR for a certain amount of time, you could use that to your advantage to break them. sure this is the tactics that teams and riders do now, but with if you had data on the competition it would be "easier" to plan
