No, you don't have to have a Mac to use this base station, they work with anything. What he failed to mention/notice is that those devices have a 2 or even a 3 Terabytes hard-drive for back-up storage. Ive been using one for the last 11 yrs (it's Dec 2023 as I'm writing this) and it works brilliantly, giving me wireless speeds of 217mbs down and 47mbs up on a 1Gig/50 BB line.

You don't need a Mac, there is an AirPort utility app available for iPhone and iPad.
