  • It doesn't matter if they like Demidov or not, he will not slip to us... there is like NO SHOT that happens even if he's the guy I want. They HAVE TO trade up. If KH cooks up a trade that doesn't involve trading Mailloux or Hutson to move up and draft Demidov I will shit on the floor in the middle of La Cage aux Sports on June 28th hahahaha I swear. I will be the happiest person on Earth.

    • @ShaneLavigne-ke2rh understandably, Habs desperately need to keep adding size. Lindstrom is a good pick at #5, the only drawback I have with him is his injury history and how well his game will translate in the big leagues. Part of him reminds me of Quinton Byfield, and the other part reminds me of Kirby Dach as far as being injured most of the time. The NHL combine will eventually reveal all and influence all gms final decisions leading up to the draft.

  • Another bit of trivia. Marty got the opportunity to play in Tampa Bay in part because Tampa had a 1999 second round draft pick wasn't developing as expected. That pick was Sheldon Keefe.

    @jamesj6597@jamesj659714 күн бұрын
  • This situation could have been avoided by picking a great forward last year, as it was a draft year stacked with offensive talent: Michkov, Benson, Leonard... The Habs had a brain fart and picked Reinbacker (Ranked 15th!!) They did a KK move all over again!! Now we have our back to the wall and need a goal scorer more than ever and we are in a draft year rich in d_men, who are, by the way, much more exciting than Reinbacker. We will again choose a lower ranking hockey player to fill the urgent need for a forward. I'm so frustrated by this incompetence, heck, trade away Reinbacker to move up and get a good forward, at least we will take our losses right now and move on from that stupid move

    @zblip22@zblip2214 күн бұрын
    • There's another much bigger stupid move we should "move on from". We should do everything we can to unload Barron before he inevitably becomes a career minor leaguer worth nothing. We'll never be able to get a perfect piece like Lehkonen back, but at least we can try to forget about that horrible mistake if Barron's no longer around to remind us of it.

      @tonylloy327@tonylloy32714 күн бұрын
    • I agree Tony, so far, the Toffoli (which gave Mesar), Dach and Lehkonen trades have failed so far to produce good assets for Montreal...the Newhook trade seems ok and KH's best one is the Petry trade to get Matheson...!!!

    • You’re writing everything I’m thinking bro lol Such a goofy pick. I thought we were done with this bullshit but it seems to be a Habs curse to be retarded and do a dumb ass move. Ribeiro for Ninnma. Halak for Lars Eller. The list of first round failures lol. It’s fucking insane. I thought with Hughes and Gorton we might get something fresh and new. But it’s still the same retarded scouting and drafting on the last. We haven’t had a superstar in 30 plus years. It’s insane. No team has gone longer. Even the Coyotes had Shane Doan. We had a little bit with Kovalev. 84 points in 82 games for one season but that’s it lol. Absolutely pathetic.

Still you’d have to sprint to the Podium. i adore Joshua Roy but Demidov is seriously underrated and we need a player that will be on our roster top 6 when we contend. Like Demidov

  • The most realistic thing we can hope for is, after Macklin at 1, we need two teams to take a D-man. Anaheim is likely to so that just leaves either Chicago or Columbus, both of which could go either way. Best case we get Lindstrom, worst case we lose out on him, Demidov AND Iginla, then trade back five or six spots and take Sennecke.

    @shmitzysays@shmitzysays14 күн бұрын
    • Iginla should be available at 5th unless Columbus take him at 4th. If Lindstrom and Iginla are already gone...then Demidov will then be available at 5th to Montreal because Levshunov will be gone top3 for sure !!!

  • Habs should use their 5th pick to take the best forward they feel is available. With the Winnipeg pick they can move up in the draft by trading that pick along with Harris, Kovacevic and Yllonen to SJ for their 14th pick. With that Habs can take Greentree, Eiserman or Sennecke if he is still around. SJ will need defencemen and I don't think Habs are giving up too much given room has to be made on the D for Hutson, Mailloux & Reinbacher. As for Yllonen, he has been a massive disappointment and won't be missed. He is also RFA. Perhaps we don't have to give up Kovy however he will at best be a 7th defender on Habs. With 2 young goal scorers in the draft and a UFA signing Habs goal scoring problems could be fixed in a couple of yeras.

    @charles6180@charles618014 күн бұрын
    • Do NOT go trading D to 'make room' for Hutson yet. In fact, Hutson's trade value is probably higher right now than what he's actually worth. So if there's a move available to trade him as part of a package to move up in the draft, DO IT!!

      @tonylloy327@tonylloy32714 күн бұрын
    • @@tonylloy327 I can't see Habs trading their most dynamic offensive defenceman in the entire organization. Habs PP sucked and that was with the 1st line and Matheson having career years. Hutson could be the difference maker.

  • If we can get Demidov that would be amazing. I think the only way is if Chicago at 2 picks Levshunov or Lindstrom and we trade with Anahiem. Maybe our 2 firsts for their 3rd pick? With all of their upfront talent i think someone like a Parekh at 5 or Dickinson or Sailyev and getting another first makes much more logic for Anahiem. I hope we can get Demidov. But Catton Eiserman and Lindstrom are still FANTASTIC. Just a top 6 forward. Please. Or Parekh.

    • they'll take iggy over catton eiserman or parekh, imo.

      @spiderjerusalem6887@spiderjerusalem688714 күн бұрын
    • Parekh has no grit at all, he's a Karlsson type of player and that dosen't help win anything. Eiserman will go 10-20, he lacks vision and speed to be a real top 5. Catton at about 10-15 because of size but will end up one of the best in the draft I'm sure! So.. Canadiens are aiming at Demidov if they can trade up. If they can't, they felt in love with Lindstrom and Iginla and I understand why, they're winners!

      @djclovissio2338@djclovissio233814 күн бұрын
    • @djclovissio2338 Man Hockey isn't all about size anymore. Literally last year a 5'9 winger won the Conn Smythe who also isn't considered that superstar level talent. You don't win with 0 grit like Chicago has right now. But we have a LOT of grit. Pezzetas, A Xhekaj, F Xhekaj, Guhle, Struble, Reinbacher, Slaf, Dach, Kovacevic, Gally, Anderson, Savard. In a skilled era of Hockey do you really need more? You end up like Utah or Toronto who just fill in deph spots and roster spots just for grit players so they aren't "Soft" That's why they lose. The prioritze grit in their system over talent. Yes grit is important Hockey is a very tough sport. But nowadays and especially in the next 10 year I promise it wouldn't be as needed.

  • Keep the fifth pick and put together a package for the 3rd. If Zegras and Caufield are buddies, why not offer Caufield to them, with our Winnipeg Pick this year and Matheson for the 3rd pick overall. That would give them a proven offensive player, a proven offensive defensemen, and a first round pick this year. We have a chance at Demidov, and if he goes to Chicago, we could grab Lindstrom and Iginla. That also frees up 11 million to either sign a free agent, or pay for a player coming via a trade. Also frees up some money for Slafkovsky, Arber and Guhle.

    • @@djclovissio2338 you pick demidov if given the chance because he has elite skill and elusiveness but above that there is a uniqueness to his game that stands out like a Pavel Datsyuk. Lindstrom is a big and strong and very powerful center with a NHL ready shot and because he's still growing in both size and skill his ceiling is unknown, especially given the fact he was injured for half the season. The other half he dominated much of. Iginla plays like an nhler already, he's quick and aggressive and makes difficult plays in the offensive end that translate to goals in the NHL. He's out produced his father at the same age and given the fact they share the same genes and his father was a later bloomer who become one of the best power forwards in NHL history, his ceiling is also incredibly high.
