Memo:
Letter 1: c-d
Letter 2: (dr-r) + (U-L)
Letter 3: L-U (opposite of U-L)
Letter 4: d-r
Letter 5: UR-U+C-D+l-ul+r OR -[(U-C+D) + (ul-l) + (dr-r)]
Letter 6: (u-c+d) + (UL-L) + (DR-R)
Execution:
dl - letter 1 with left hand (down pins), letter 2 with right hand (up pins)
R - letter 4 with left hand (down pins), letter 3 with right hand (up pins)
Note that this move is the exception to the “first letter with left hand” rule
DR - make the 2x2 UL block intuitively
\ - letter 5 with left hand (up pins), letter 6 with right hand (down pins)
UL - make the 3x2 L block intuitively
L - match everything except for the UR corner intuitively
ur - solve the rest of the clock intuitively

Nice tutorial! Can I also do d moves with thumbs?
I’ve got a comp in 2 months and average 10-9 seconds do you think I should learn this or an easier method?
Are there any good explanations of the mathmatics of this method?
@@kellanbutler2289 jaapsch clock page has some math stuff about clock but I don't think 7 simul math has been explained publicly yet besides in the clock discord server

Let’s go! I already learned from Caleb’s tutorial but it’s great to see another clock solver’s perspective 😊
Thanks sooo much for sharing this. This is the crazy advanced method I imagined Clock could have years ago. So excited to try it out.
very nice tutorial, super excited to learn this!
I am just happy this came out before my next comp, on April fools day I have a comp and the main event is clock and I have been practicing clock a ton recently. This tutorial will help a ton! Thank you❤
are you sure clock is really the main event or is it just an april fools?
@@tobyseufert it is, if you search up April Fools Alberta 2023 it will show the main event is clock, and there will 3x3 FMC, but it isn’t the main event

Very nice video Tommy! Well explained. Gotta mess around with this for some time
Great video. Just learned it over the course of a couple of hours. Had to go over this video like 20 times or so but eventually i got it and now i got a 15 single. Hopefully thousands of solves later i can average sub 4
Can you make a video with more 7 simul example solves? That would be very helpful.
It seems like the third calculation (third letter) can be omitted if we have to move U to L using the right pins, but memorising the third letter here could help because you don't need to lookahead
Finally we get it!!! Thank you for this tutorial!
Coucou, je regarde ce tuto mais ça m'a l'air un peu compliqué
I've been waiting for this for weeks
I have a comp with clock in almost 2 months. I’m gonna learn and practice this and see how far I get.
congrats on the 12.78 wr single!
Thanks!
I’m probably not going to use this method but this is interesting to watch.
Q grande Tommy, gracias por el tutorial ojalá llegar lejos
Been waiting a while for this. Now it is time for me to get serious with clock ⏰
Great tutorial tommy! I was wondering if you’d have any tips for getting faster with 7 simul? It’s ok if you have none.
A very well presented video.
Glad to hear it :)
When executing for the 3rd one or intuitive 2x2 block, does the U and L has to be same to begin with?
Whenever I do it without your scrambles the back is not solved :( do you you why that could be?
hello ! What would be your recommendation for the orientation of the puzzle when starting the memorization ? Maybe trying to orient the puzzle so that the U and C clock are at the same time or close to each other is a good option. This way the "pinky move" in the middle of the solve is less threatening. On the other hand, I feel like the memorization is already pretty hard to fit in the 15 seconds. So maybe going straight to the memorization without orienting the puzzle might be a good option.
Hey! I look for a few different lucky cases and my next 7 simul video will probably cover how to take advantage of them :) Regarding fitting inspection in 15 seconds, it's very possible to get well under 15 so with enough practice, orienting the puzzle will be worth it
@@TommyCherry any updates on when / whether you will make that video? :)
Great tutorial! Congrats on NAR average too! Do you have any tips for simul turning? Even with sheerin I can barely simul turn (I avg high 6-low 7), and with 7simul its worse haha. Currently averaging ~14 with 7simul so do you have any tips to improve?
just get better

This video is soo clear!
Very helpful Tommy❤
Yay I’m glad
Can you explain good situations? I learned 7 simul from Caleb Trelford and i'm practicing on this method. If I found pairs with edges, I will put them on U and L, then I will skip 3rd letter and counting 2nd will be very simple. And I can count 4 letters without flipping. Now my personal record was 8,16 with 21 second inspection. I'm trying to count all of pairs for 14 seconds. But I counted only 2 times for 14 seconds.
Hi Tommy! Thanks a lot for the tutorial. Do you think I can get sub 6 averages globally? (I also have a comp next week) I really hope you reply.
if you made a video explaining how this method works, id be willing to watch it
Question: Is there any way to eliminate the DL move and replace it with DR.
It's very interesting to learn
Agreed!
Just wondering, when doing the memo when you do an x2 rotation, does 12 stay at the top, or does it stay with the 12 marking? Thanks.
Stays with the marking
This was so helpful
Awesome!
Even tho I learned this method I still watch this for fun
What things shoud I change/learn after getting comfortable with this? How are your solutions different from the solves in this tutorial?
Not much else I do besides taking advantage of a few other types of lucky cases. Also if there are no lucky cases I like to choose an orientation that’ll give me an easy first move (the d-dial turn)
@@TommyCherry Is the second method for calculating the 5th number worse than the first method? why do you use the first method, it seems to be easier, especially since you do almost the same thing for the 6th number?
self note: Memo: Letter 1: c-d Letter 2: (dr-r) + (U-L) Letter 3: L-U (opposite of U-L) Letter 4: d-r Letter 5:-[(U-C+D) + (ul-l) + (dr-r)] Letter 6: (u-c+d) + (UL-L) + (DR-R)
Nice tutorial yo!
Thanks yo!

My brain can’t handle this amount of arithmetic in 15 sec.. Right now I’m using standard flip (sub 10), but I’m transitioning to Lou method. I wanna try this. How long would you predict it takes to get to sub 10 with this?
Lou isn't very good at all. I personally recommend either going straight to 7-simul, or at least to the Sheerin method. Don't worry, 7simul isn't nearly as hard as you think.
This is the future
I approve.
Good video.
For the third letter, do I memo it or do I intuitively match U to L?
It is a step in memorization
Is it possible to memo 14 numbers and execute the clock blindfolded?
Technically yes because you’d know the state of the puzzle but you’d have to convert those numbers to something that represents specific moves
hey tommy i'm having this problem where when i do 7 simul, every piece is solved except for c d and r. is there a reason for this
Jacob Chambers has a video on what different pieces being unsolved means
@@JudeStradtner oh thanks man but i figured it out i just forgot to delete the comment ig also are you gonna upload soon?
@@cubealgs101 yes I’m currently working on some videos lol
how do I get faster tps more specifically how do I simul turn easier
On every solve, I mess up 1-3 edges on the other side Ex:UR5- DR3- DL5- UL4- U5- R4- D4- L5- ALL6+ y2 U2- R1- D4+ L2+ ALL5- for this scramble I memoed JJ OD AH and had one flipped edge I would appreciate if someone told me what I was doing wrong.
firstly, for this scramble, and in general, I would advise using the trick to rotate to the optimal orientation before starting memo. prioritize the orientation where the center and bottom clock face's match (this skips letter 1), and the right and bottom clock matching (this skips letter 3). in this scramble, you can actually do both! and get 2 letters to be O. with that being said, I will see what u did wrong I don't see any orientation that gives you JJ for the first pair. i got JC AH ID
I started clock very recently and I'm just wondering, instead of ignoring the 1st move with left hand rule, why not just memorise M4 as M3 and vice versa? Then exec would just be (M1, M2) (M3, M4) etc.
Some people do that but it’s faster to memorize in the order he shows in the video
@@JudeStradtner yeah ig it's quicker as you just did U-L before L-U, + you just need to flip the letter pair so it's fine
@@ignDart yup. Plus once you do enough solves, you won’t be thinking about the left hand rule, it’ll all be muscle memory.
You can do either, it doesn't really matter
everyone says clock is weird but it looks so cool, i started with clock a few weeks ago and my pb is 19.12 and im sub 30
If you do this during comps, how did you get your inspection time down
practice, thats it pretty much
@@Aliensky_ Thanks!
I understand how this is viable but how the hell do y'all do this in under 15 seconds?
what do you think if moyu releases a clock
my brain is lagging, but it will pay off for me. Must grind upwards, toward the light.
Niceeeeee
What if you have B + J?
How can you memorize all pairs on less than 15 seconds? It take me like 2 mins memorizing it all :(
You just have to practice and eventually you’ll get it
yo pls send 3x3 bld tutorial would love to learn from master
too complex for me rn. I'll look at it more in detail when I have the mental capacity lmao but THANKS FOR TEACHING US THIS :DDDDD
im learning it rn lol
On every solve I do it, there's one or two flipped edges on the other side. Ex: UR2- DR5+ DL1- UL6+ U2+ R2- D4+ L4- ALL3- y2 U4- R2- D1- L0+ ALL3- for this scramble I memoed HC ED BE. In the end, 1 edge flipped. I would appreciate it if someone told me what I'm doing wrong.
its actually HC ED GE and and what’s worng is that 5th letter
also highly recommend to use the 5th letter first method not the second method
also had that same problem when i was first learning
@@user-jw3nt7sr5q thanks
@@user-jw3nt7sr5q why the first method and not the second method? the second method is actually the same as the one for the last letter, and its really straightforward and I have no problems with it. you can equally good with either
What is the opposite of 6?
6 is the only number where you just use 6 there is no -6

Yep that’s how 7 simul goes
When you have a puzzle that can be described naturally as (Z/12Z)^14 that can happen.
This why it make me sad that clock gets ignored its a fun puzzle

For my first solve I LITERALLY FORGOT TO TAKE THE OPPOSITE NUMBER FOR THE FIFTH NUMBER. (I was off by one edge.....)
so hard to learn
I am first in the year at maths at school and I don’t even know how you are supposed to do all this maths in 15 seconds of inspection time lol

If I’m being honest, I’m not that impressed by this method. It just seems like a more complicated no-flip. and I don’t see the necessity of turning the numbers into letters for memo. It just takes a lot of time, especially for those who aren’t too familiar with memorization. Just to be clear, no hate on the method or the effort put into it, Im just showing my opinion. Feel free to prove me wrong!
I would agree that 7 simul in this basic form is just a more complicated version of Sheerin. Turning the numbers into letters for memo is not something that you have to do. You can check out Sukant's example solves and see his different approach to memo. As someone who had no familiarity with memorization before 7 simul, it was the biggest hurdle for me. However, it has become second nature over time and will prove useful when I start one-looking.
@@CalebTrelford to one look do you have to memorize every turn or is there something easier?
@@demonbeater1732 Yes. You have to memorize every turn. I don't think that there's an easier way.
Also pin transitions are way better for 7simul
