Not that everybody is only impacted by Hikaru or anything, this is just to say that streamers and YTers who put out content every day simply have more content and that will be more capable of reaching a large audience because of the quantity of it.

  • 3:14 💯 agree with what Hikaru says. Based in Europe I interact more with his content online…(where he’s streaming from the other side of the world) and learn more…for Ding, Magnus,Vishy : I admire and I’m inspired by them but it’s true what Naka says the reach and interaction is way better through streaming.

    • Don't underestimate the fact that Magnus also has partial ownership of probably most online chess platforms and multiple apps/tools. Hikaru's influence is on the nose, but there are a lot of people that have equal or greater influence they as a person are just not necessarily the "brand". He definitely cares if he wins, if he didn't care about winning he wouldn't be competing in events this demanding.

Here it’s just media standing in between and players manoeuvring around - technically between games media should be kept in the side like Tata steel do. Need better planning for candidates FIDE!

  • Hikaru has made the mistake of overly priotizing numbers. Sitting at home on your chair playing top class bullet is surely gonna gather millions of views, however when you consider legacy for hundreds of years to come, those millions of meaningless views from random noobs don't hold the same weight as being the world chess champion. I am absolutely positive Viswanathan Anand has made much much bigger impact on future generations than Hikaru ever will with his "influencing". At this rate he's gonna end up inside his four walls 24/7 playing minecraft just for the views - instead of sacrificing the numbers to achieve greatness, create something unique and leave an indestructible mark. I personally prefer 1 minute of Gukesh interview, showing his true soul and personality of a champion, than 3 hours of mindless online blitz flagging FMs left and right, followed by reading memes on reddit, fake laughing while pretending to understand them in order to seem hip and cool.
