  • A friend of mine drove 251s during the war. Our reenactment group obtained and reconfigured 3 OT-810's and before he passed, he helped train the drivers. One tip he gave them right away was, NEVER wrap your thumbs around the steering wheel to grasp it. If you strike something or drive into a rut, the wheels can jerk violently. If your thumbs are on the inside of the steering wheel the cross bars can break them if the wheel jerks. Use only your fingers to grasp the wheel and steer from the bottom.

What you mention is indeed correct, so when driving off road need to take the steering wheel only at the outside of the steering wheel If you liked the video make shure to like, subscribe and hit the bell button to keep updated when a new video comes online. • I see the front wheels are doing the steering. Does the rear also assist by skid steering? Are the tracks connected via differential? 🤔😎

    @downunderdan5132@downunderdan5132 Жыл бұрын
    • @Down Under Dan According to Interwebz, steering brakes are connected to the steering wheel. So when turning harder, the inner track will brake. It's like driving a tractor, but with less pedalling. It really should have had front wheel drive for terrain, since those wheels bump into, and don't climb over. It would be my favourite winter car, tho. If only there was a heater.

The tracks also makes shure you are able to get through mud and up steap places. • The version of Sd.Kfz 250 present in this video was also not developed or issued until after the DAK surrendered. It's the second, simplified version, also known as "Neu". It's painted in the "Dunkelgelb" base coat which was standard for almost all German AFV's starting in late spring of '43 through the end of the war. The sand is an odd choice though.

Vehicle was issued with tins of green and brown paste which could be thinned down with gasoline, paint thinner, etc, and applied to camouflage the vehicle to best suite the terrain it would be operating in.

So drives pretty smooth off road Driving it is ok, you just need to get used to and learn how to drive the gearbox, that’s a difficult one, with preselector For millage, I would need to see.
