Lifting downturned eyes with an eyeliner

It’s a common misconception that applying a heavy eyeliner will help lift downturned eyes. However, if the liner is too thick it can actually do the opposite and pull the eyes down further. In this tutorial we look at how to use the natural eye shape to lift those eyelids and give the appearance of a more almond shape 👁✌🏻

I don't get why people are mad in the comments.. i honestly enjoyed the laughing made is less boring well at least for me cause i zone out very easily
Ty 👏 agree✌
samesies I loved it, made it more real. Also they seem like they're having fun.

im deaddd he hit urban decay with some realness XDD
Haha i love how he did a close up to ensure we KNOW which exact product it was 🤣
😂😂✌
I have the same eye shape as her and I never really saw anybody on youtube talk about it the way you did. Thanksss xxxxxx
Awesome! There are actually so many girls who have similar eyes. Looks like I nailed it this time, because the video is getting tons of views. 😍

Heeeiiidddiiii!!! Where are you from? Such a cool name you have?
Hahaha.. She's pretty and the chemistry between you guys just amazing😂😂😂
Lovely to see some positive vibes. 🤗
A bit flirty
every time she finally manages to stop laughing, he laughs and gets her started again 😅
i love that girl in your profile picture T_T lil meow
this was really helpful. Not to mention, it was super enjoyable having the authenticity of the video included. Makes this a lot more fun to watch; being able to see personality.
I really needed this tutorial. Nobody explained to me how to do a eleyner for my type of eye. I really had a bad time doing my eyeliner like the rest of the people that do tutorials on it because of my dowturned eye
Tell me about it. IG is full of cat eye flicks whereas there are only a bunch of people who can actually pull them of. 🙄
@@jaasyek6386 Short. Don't make it too long or it'll break just like what they're trynna show us here
@@jaasyek6386 no prob✌
Had my sister doing my eyeliner mostly because I failed at it. I did manage a nice line last year once but I haven't worn makeup in a while.
I've been smiling too, he looks so funny and humble. She is also adorable!
Finally my type of person. Hiiiiii! 👋 Welcome to AdviseMyStyle. 🤗
AdviseMyStyle thank you ♥️
This is the exact issue I have. My eyes are exactly like hers. I never do wing liner because of it, but I want to so bad. I guess I just won't be able to ever fly away with a nice sharp wing...lol I will try the lil baby wing next time.
Hey Tash! I got you covered in one of the upcoming tutorials where I’ll explain to you what you can do instead of a cat flick. 🤗
Down turned eyes look really cute and I actually do my eyeliner so that my eyes look down turned. It’s a popular trend in Japan
@@ak-tn1ed yes! I love it!!💖 embrace and accentuate!✌😇
I think they're saf. Sexy as fuck
The wing need to be longer or short for hooded eyes telling this video?? I couldn't understand plss reply
I’m laughing at the comments that are saying why is she laughing lmao as if you guys never had the giggles. People are such Debby downers. There’s more positive than negative so keep on focusing on the positives!!

Hahahaaaaaaaa!!! 😚
😊😊💘😊
I’ve noticed a lot with beginners with eyeliner, they tend to go a bit more heavy handed towards the centre of the eye to create that more rounded look to their eyes. What I find that’s really helpful when trying to go for a more cat eye look, is to start from the outer corner of the eye inwards instead of the inner corner out. That way you can get that flick and have the liner taper more towards the inside of the eye
Waw Nicole, the way you express yourself is so beautiful. I wish one day I will be so good in English as well. Thank you for your contribution.
Nicole, That is a really good tip that you posted. That is the exact I have to do my eyeliner. From the outer corner in bc if I don't it is always way too heavy in the center. This tip works every time for me.
Finally someone does a tutorial for my eye shape. I’ve always had this problem with the line breaking and doing the liner to thick on my eyelid. never heard of anyone else having this problem so I assumed that eyeliner was just not meant for ppl like me. Today ima try doing it this way. Thanks!
Is it only me who still doesn't know how to apply eyeliner 🙄
It might be your eye shape babe... Easy for the girls on KZhead, bit quite difficult for most normal people. 😉
It's hard bruh super
Me too
Me also. ☹☹☹
Same same 😣😔😧🖐🖐
I appreciate the laughing, it shows how the liner looks in action lol
This is literally the most helpful video I have seen on the internet regarding downturned eyes. Literally been trying to figure out what looks good for my downturned eye shape. Thank you so much!
I love tutorials that teach while making me laugh. It was too contagious 😂
this blew my mind - ive been doing my eyeliner so wrong
I rarely see tips like these for downturned eyes like mine. This was so helpful! Thank you!
I’m so glad this was in my recommended! My eyes are hooded but it wasn’t til this video that I realized they’re also “downturned.” The way you did the first eye was how I did eyeliner in high school lol. I do the second eye look more so now, but still struggle with that break sometimes.
I love this video for every single part of it. First of all, the explanation is clear. There are no rounds and rounds, the artist makes it looks actually easy. And the artist also explain every "why" of all the steps, which makes it easy to try "bolder" versions or just try to adapt to slightly different eyes. Second: The model is so sweet! I really could see myself trying this tutorial bc I could emphasize with her. Third: the interaction between the makeup artist and the model: it warmed my heart. And the best part: My eyes look finally the way I wanted.
as a matter of fact, many asians just line their eyes half way through or 2/3 of eye leaving a tiny flick, it's a common practice
Yep! 🖐
Its a common practice if you know about it. This was new to me.
I couldn't even line it starting halfway or 2/3 cus it gets covered completely I just add a line at the end of my eye😂😂
@@mishaslilbae828 have you eyelid tape or glue? Its great for people with hooded lids or monolids 🙂 I have hooded lids, I usually only put thin eyeliner at the end of my eye and do a tiny flick, that way my eyes looks bigger and doesn't look like I have hooded lids
@@ynarrany nah tape or glue won't work😂 I don't mind my eyes looking hooded I add the line just to elongate my lash line so it looks like I have thicker lashes.
Why is she laughing so much
Because once you're in a flow, you just can't stop. :)
And if she had been 100% serious you would complain too. "So boring. Why is she not happy?"
@@idapedersen5490 exactly what i think
Better she laughs then be upset
Yes laughing was distracting
Okay, I just want to say thank you! There are a lot of people who have hooded eyes and have a hard time figuring out how to line their eyes properly. The way some people apply eyeliner doesn't work for others. I have hooded eyes too and I have to be very careful not to overdo my makeup and make myself look older than I really am. You've shown how to do eyeliner in a soft, natural way that compliments her eyes well! By the way, you both looked like you had fun doing this video. I'm sure it made people (including me)smile! Subscribed!
This is such an amazing video, I've never found an accurate video for such eye shape.
I’ve tried several ways to draw eyeliner and I’ve never been satisfied with the effect it gave. Even though both my eyes matched and wasn’t messy, it felt off. I have similar eyes with her, this video helped me a lot!
Omg I have the same issue. This video made me so happy for whatever reason, obviously their gigliness and positive attitude helped a lot!
she looks beautiful without any make up
Fabulous!!! 👍 you are using a color that we can really see what you are explaining. Thank you!
Thank you for making this video! I seriously never understood why I couldn’t use liquid eyeliner! It would make my eyes sad looking and the makeup felt heavy. Your video makes it so clear why hooded droopy eyes does this!! Less goes a long way it seems. New subscriber! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Awesome. I've never thought about how thick the line was but you're right this happens to me too
If you don't want it to break don't apply it with your eyes closed. For all you idiots out there you want to apply it more to the side and not at a huge angle because then it gets into the crease. There are better videos out there for people who have really hooded eyes. The model is young so her eyes aren't as hooded.
Hey, thank yo for the contribution, but you must be young to think like that or you don’t have hooded eyes.
*MI,who can even apply eyeliner with closed eyes lol*
you obviously don't have hooded eyes 😐😐😐
@@Hiyorin871 ya but you shouldn't apply eyeliner with your eyes closed, for anyone. My eyes look like that girls. So I guess she doesn't have hooded eyes.
Most people - and especially those of us with hooded eyes, since the hood gets in the way - cannot apply eyeliner with their eye all the way open, because it smears into the brow area. You generally either close the eye you're working on, or tilt your head so that your eye is half closed. And then you keep your eyes closed till it's dry lol bc if you don't you'll have a eyeliner line on your crease.
I actually love the fact that she laughs and the guy as well. It gives the video a much more relaxed vibe.I don't like it when models are super serious in makeup videos and they don't make a move unless the makeup artist says so. Just remember they are human beings, not robots... Laughing is a natural reaction.
flirting hmmmmm
Hahaha! Maaaayyybbeeeee... ☺
Good God! Your voice is hypnotic:) Thank you for the best explanation I’ve heard yet. There’s hope for me.
Aaaaawww! It's so nice to read such lovely comments. Thank you Michelle.
His accent is adorabs! Quite nice video as well.
I love his accent. And she’s so adorable 😍
omg... bless you for making these tutorials! been looking for eye makeup tips for down-turned eyes for sooooo long
I have downward slightly hooded eyes and I have looked high and low for a good explanation of why my wings do not turn out as good as other peoples and you have explained it perfectly thank you very much
Yes u explain better thanks 😍 today my first time looking at your videos
Hiiiiii Linda! Welcome to our channel! Your name means beautiful in Spanish, right? Where are you from?
@@AdviseMyStyle Linda means cute or pretty. It's also a normal name though :)
U r so right abt the flick breaking
Glad to see people agreeing with my point.
I'm suffering from the same hooded eyes and because it never comes out to be good, I have been hating to even apply the eye liner... But now as you have seemed to make my life easier.. I'll give it another chance
I’ve been applying it like the last way you did for so long and I thought it looked good but I see what you mean about the it breaking! Gonna go try it out shorter now thanks so much!
Thank you for the close-up at the end. It showed the placement and break very clearly.
Awesome! I wonder why there are so many dislikes on this video. I just don't get it. 🤔
@@AdviseMyStyle You are focusing on the wrong number. There are almost 650 people who watched it and thought it was helpful and took a moment to hit like. You are doing makeup based on enhancing not obscuring features. Keep being honest and people will appreciate it.
She is so beautiful
I'm 26 and I've been quite into makeup for a good 5-6 years now. Y do I leaned only now this and that my 'hooded' eyes are downturned eyes instead ! Thank you for this great vid, life changing !
My eye shape is exactly the same. I love my downturned eyes and I try to accentuate their shape. I always get so many comments about how beautiful my eyes are. Best way to do your eyes is to line the bottom waterline first and extend that line and then allow the top line to join the bottom line. In that way you can have a longer flick.
Man I was laughing so hard about that Urban Decay eyeliner 😂😂😂😂 too funny. New subscriber here
Heeeeeeyyyy!!! Lovely to see new fans. Welcome! 😚🤗
This is such a good tutorial and it's so funny, loved every part of it
omg this was so helpful!!! i have almond eyes but i think it's kinda downward. After watching this and how to follow the line of my eyes...HOLYYYY IT LOOKS SO GOOOOOD!
omg this video is from 4 years ago, make up artists from Sephora , and not only , still have no idea what I am talking about when I’m trying to explain that for my eyes shape the thick eyeliner is a NO ! Insane , all make up artists basically are learning one way of doing a type of wing, thinking that supposedly should work for everyone, crazy! Grateful for this video 👍🏼 Finally someone who knows crucial things 🙌🏼
People are complaining about others laughing! Wtf! there shouldn't be a reason for people to laugh. And it's not annoying
My eye shape lol
Woooohhhhooo!!! Hello! Welcome to our channel. 🤗
Fantastic video actually makes more sense I see a lot of people making videos trying to teach people to make thick winged eyeliner for droopy hooded eyes and this one looks much better. The rule is less is more :) thank you
Oh my! Thank you for this. My eyes are the droopiest of eyes. And I always hate doing my eyeliner. This is so helpful.
Superb tutorial, Great chemistry between the artist n model 😄
Hiiiii!!! Welcome to our channel. If the models are fun, then the whole video turns out bubbly. I just love working with girls full of life energy. :)
It was nice to see her so comfortable 😊
Just means I can NEVER wear a proper feline flick. So unfair. (It's true. When I used to try the feline flick, I always got the weird, wrinkled anti-flick.)
me too:(
@@ElwingWitch79 So what is amazing is that so many of us can't really wear the feline flick but youtube makes us think it's the sexiest look to do on your eyes. Lol. 😜
@@jcjccmz yeah!he even made a video explaining how beauty gurus let us think they can look always great wearing eyliner and it's all a bunch of lies😐😐
OMG!? You remember! Sooooo coooolll!!!! I wish that video would go viral, because there are so many girls who believe it's their skills and not eye shape.
Yaaaayyyyy!!! There is a video I recorded recently and will post it soon, explaining you the alternative. ;) Stay tuned... :)
this is the most informative video i’ve ever watched! whats funny is i clicked it by mistake but thank god i did lol.. i have the same eye shape and just now found out the good way to apply an eyeliner. thank you so much!
Here eyes are exactly like mine! Thank you for this demonstration. I will definitely be giving this a try!
Great video! I loved the laughs and the tecnique💯
I think instinctively I've always known this! And have never felt good about taking the liner all the way across my top lid and didn't wear eyeliner for a very long time because of it (used shadow at the corner to lift). Being very honest, as I've aged one eye is more round than the other and putting eyeliner across the entire top is accentuating the imperfection! THANK YOU! No more eyeliner across the entire top lid! ps...This profile photo really shows it, I'll be taking it down asap... LOL! xo
Ciiinnnddddyyyy!!! Thank you for your contribution. You wouldn't believe it, but I actually have the same challenge. I often times try makeup on my face and I am an expert in eyeliner but now my eyes just don't let me play like I used to. 🤔 Anyways... Weeelllcccooommmee! 🤗
OH MY, SERIOUSLY!!!! I just now, after 30+ years, found out why I have so many problems with eye liners. It's not so much what I'm using. It's how I'm using it!!!! Brilliant 👏 👏 👏 Thank you!
Thaaank u, that's hella helpful, I never found anyone talking bout how can I do eyeliner to my eyes
So are you saying that a shorter flick is suited better for hooded eyes rather than the longer flick. Is there some way to do a nice long cat eye flick on hooded eyes u would suggest?
Exactly... It can be done, I did a tutorial about it. It is called something like Why Instagram makeup doesn't suit everyone. But I would rather choose an alternative technique and I will soon show you a couple.
I’m glad this was in my recommended
Thank you so much. I learned the reason why I never like to draw eyeliner as it makes my eyes funny but now I know how I will be using it ❤
She has a beautiful laugh and you explained the technique really well. Subscribed! 😊

Heeeyyyy!!! I definitely will, bit until then, browse our fltineline for the one for uneven lips. 😉
I'm glad I've been doing it right this whole time
Ok but all this time I thought I had hooded eyes but really it’s just downturned.the first one is how I always end up looking if someone does my eyes; so happy to find this video.
if you start the eyeliner closer to the edge of the eye than was shown, like that corner opposite the tear duct, you can extend the wing further while lifting your eyes. I always draw my wing where my last lash ends. That way you dont have to only draw small wings, you can make them dramatic and long cat eyes.
Thank you Jane for your contribution, but unfortunately what works for you won’t work on most hooded eyes as the lid will pull the flick lower.
Ohh I see, I have downturned eyes, but maybe not hooded.
Very useful info thank you now I know
Hey, hey... Welcome to our channel! 😊

Great video! It was quite informative. Also your steady hand and eyeliner application are quite enviable!💞 Perhaps instead of the Urban Decay eyeline, you might try the wet n wild blue liquid eyeliner?. The formula is very pigment and is slow to dry.
Would love to see you apply this while her eye is open! I really struggle to see what I'm doing by only be able to look with my other eye! Ciao Ciao!

omg she's so cute lmao i watched all video with a smile in my face, her giggle is infectious :)
Woah this is the first time I’ve seen a tutorial with my exact eye shape!!
Oh wow that's quite a difference. Question for you: is it possible to draw liner perfectly without pulling on the eye area? It really bothers me to do that but my eyeliner skips if I don't 😥
Well, it depends how "saggy" the lid is. I think the only way is if you lift your chin, put the mirror lower and lift the brow.
I use a small stiff straight brush similar to an eyebrow brush and I use it to push eyeliner very close to the lashline. I have hooded eyes too.
