If people get on the road and don't think issues may arise they are romanticizing . The people that know things do occur the freedom and beauty of vanlife are definitely real!

Take smaller trips close to home, for starters. You'll learn lots. Before you know it, you'll be branching further out.

try your state parks they have rangers or camp host on site that adds a level of security

Can't say I agreed with everything you said, although I agreed with most of it. I don't think vanlife gets romanticized that often, at least not with the creators I truly follow, but it 😢definitely does happen. I try to listen, understand, and take the good with the bad. I'm definitely not selling everything. Took me too long to get my own place and it's at a fairly economical amount all things considered. For me this is something I've been destined to do since I was just out of high school. The dream never left me and it's been over 3 decades. Just wish I knew then what I know now. Feel like I've seen all types of single, attached, and married people doing this now. Most seem to make it work however they are doing it, some do it for a time and then quit after they've gotten what they wanted out of it. and some don't last long at all for various reasons.

I disagree. Romanticizing van life does happen, depending on who is telling the story. If it's all sunshine and flowers and if it does rain, there's always a rainbow, that's not real life. Real life is getting stuck in the mud, pulling over to puke in the ditch, getting a flat tire or running out of gas. Real life is knowing you have to save money for engine trouble, because, eventually, it will happen. I am not a spontaneous person, but I want to travel, to enjoy nature and see new things. Along the way, I will stop to smell the roses. But if I see a muddy road going off in the distance, I am unlikely to take it. Van life is not for everyone, true, especially if they think it will solve all of life's problems. But it is an adventure. Jon in rural BC, Canada

Hi Jon, Actually, I've been stuck before. I have a video showing that. On that point, you're right. But honestly, does anyone expect to get on the road and never run into issues? You're right, that's not real life, in a van or in sticks & bricks. What I can say is that those I'm associated with keep a very positive outlook on life, while also being prepared for the on-road emergencies. By the way, we check the roads before exploring.😁
