    • No, Malcolm you're wrong. It has a long history but the common root in the modern day comes from the novel "Faust". When it comes to musicians, Paganini was believed to have sold his soul for his ability and the same for Robert Johnson. This isn't chicken and egg.

    • It’s 50/50. The Faustian Bargain is the story that it comes from. Some people literally do blood contracts and prick themselves but you’re correct that most people of today sell their souls by going against what they believe in just for a little money and fame.

  • Crossing dressing in movies has been around forever, it’s only bad when it’s relied on for a cheap joke~ it’s the same as a bad script. Westley Snipes for example was in Too Wong Foo which is about drag models, and holds a lot of cultural value to certain groups. All three leads wanted todo the role because they knew it would break norms more than for laughs. Big Momma and similar movies rely on the cross dressing “shock” factor in order for you to find the movie “funny”. It’s cheap and lazy which is why it’s bad

It was men who played both the male and female roles. It's literally older than Shakespeare, from both a in-universe and meta sense.

    • @@SozioTheRogue yeah it comes from us as a people not wanting to be looked down on. Also being “turned gay” was a threat in the black community, to the point it was widely accepted that if you go to jail you may come out gay. So straight black men have this super strong aversion to being called something they aren’t more so than other groups. Stupid stuff really, but that’s deff where this whole string of thought comes from

He probably did read the encyclopedia and read 8 short nonfiction books. Pretty doable and its not like he said he FULLY COMPREHENDED what was written. Just that he read them.

  • It is possible to read 8 books a day if they’re shorter book. There are reasonable 20-50 page books that could be read fairly quickly. An intelligent child reading all day could get through 8 books. It’s highly unlikely but not impossible. I think people mishear the number & assume it’s impossible without really thinking about it.

  • I'm not convinced the joke thieving was fully intentional. If you go over a multi-year career alongside several other comedians, it shouldn't be surprising when you hear something funny, forget about it for a couple years/shows, suddenly think of it as a joke (not realizing you thought of it subconsciously because you heard it before), and then add it to your set without realizing you just ripped someone's material. It seems to me Kat Williams is a really distrusting person who's been burned before by insiders and now thinks everyone operates in the same snake-like fashion. I'm sure there are some people who honestly ripped him off, and probably some people who he rightly accuses of weird behavior, but I don't think it's as widespread as he makes it out to be.

    • Depends on what u define as a book. Each testaments of the Bible could be a book. Or each song and hymn of psalms could be a book. A pamphlet etc. Depends on your point of view

    • @@shinigami1357 by that logic youtube comments can be books as well, if he meant testaments from the bibles or songs he wouldve said so the definition of a book is not controversial or contested we all imagine the same thing, stop idolizing people and defending everything they say (especially mentally ill people)
