I’d agree, however I don’t think it was AVS defence to blame. Look at the shot on net difference. Looks to me more like Georgiev just sucked. If he can tighten up or Annunen plays well, the jets are in trouble, because the AVS totally dominated this game, Georgiev just let in a bunch of goals he should have saved.

Go Jets Go! What a wild game. Lowry and Connor came to play. When these teams last played and the Jets won 7-0, I thought it was an anomaly and that the Jets would not score that many come the playoffs. Wrong! A lot of the Jets goals were from the dots and in, so that's a good sign. Hopefully, we tighten up defensively, because this should not have been a nail biter at the end.

At what point does the Avs goaltending problem becomes a coaching problem? Georgiev has been struggling all year long and Bednar has been using him like he's 2014-15 Carey Price. Make a change, dammit! The worse that can happen is he's finally getting a breather.
His options are a goalie who’s injured who can’t play or an untested rookie with little to no experience in NHL then have the playoffs as his 1st game. No choice really.
@@patrickr4762 First of all, there is no reason Georgiev had to play this often during the regular season. Now, he’s exhausted and mentally broken. Secondly, it may not be ideal but if Annunen is healthy next game, he needs to start. He may pull a Patrick Roy and be great right away or he may not, but the Avs have no choice but to take the chance. Bednar should have played him more during the season to give him more experience but he didn’t, so these are his cards now.
@AaBb-jd5tm Agreed. I'd like anyone to explain how those weren't good goals caused by terrible defense. The Jets scored 14 goals on the Aves in 2 games. Maybe instead of always concentrating on using their defense offensively, concentrate on stopping goal chances.
Bednar & Juusi Parkkila have had all season to fix 40's game, so I do agree coaching needs to be better. Georgiev has teo major issues, that should be easily fixed: 1) 1v1 he's too passive. The post/post goal could've been stopped w a simple poke check. At the ASG he unleashed those vs McDavid with great success, but forgot to bring it to the regular season. During defensive breakdowns he starts playing small & scared. He needs to be more aggressive & challenge the shooter. 2) Mental toughness. 40 lets negative overwhelm & snowball, which is a huge weakness. I'm a student of mindset & there are simple & effecrive techniques to stay focused & energetic. For some reason 40 hasn't learned them! That's 100% on Parkkila. In the regular season he's had several meltdowns breaking sticks or yelling at teammates publicly. I don't think the skaters believe in him. Two full seasons is enough: send him packing!

Josh Manson with an awful turnover on the second Jets goal and then he gets bullied in front of the net on the third Jets goal. Avs defense is trash. Georgiev isn’t good but stop acting like this defense in good. They are soft and turn the puck over often.

@@kpov2533 Ok, I’ll name more. Makar and Toews get bullied in front of the net every night. Makar turns the puck over more than he ever has this season. The only reason he’s in the running for a Norris is because of his offensive skill. He has looked very shakey defensively this season.

Turning pucks over, not in the right position, getting bullied in front of the net, allowing opposing forwards to just cycle the puck which confuses the entire defensive structure. @@andrewwindermere2425 If the Avs even had a decent NHL backup like the Jets Laurent Brossoit they would have been the better team tonight. The Jets probably would have won with him starting too. I wouldn't be surprised to see UFA Brossoit being courted by multiple GMs for a long term starter contract this summer, including the Avs. This core Avs team with Brossoit in goal next season would be dangerous.
6-3 should have been like worst case. 6-4 on napping goalie… he’s a goner guys. No goalie finishes a season the way he did and then go onto game one and perform like this and have a career to go back to. He will not start in the nhl again. He will for sure be a decent backup after he gets his head straight. He’s gotta start over. Avs rolled the dice and lost. It’ll be 3 years min before another team does it again.
Throwing the goalie under the bus is hilarious. NONE of the goals were weak, it was weak defense from the Aves, just be honest. The Jets were quicker on the puck in every goal scored.
Neither one of these teams is going deep in the playoffs unless their scorers start playing some defense.

Jets offense is very fast. Now the defense for both teams looked sloppy at times but that's to be expected. I mean it's hard to play a perfect game or expect a shutout. I do think the defense is the weaker spot on both teams from what I'm seeing. I wouldn't blame the Goalies for this high scoring game. Yes, they probably could have made a save here and there but both defenses are allowing way too much pressure maybe because the offenses are that great. I am no expert with Hockey and haven't been keeping up with it lately with the insane political climate we are living in but to me I was impressed with Jets offense in this highlight but at times their defense was not so good.
I'm no expert either but I watched the game and I think the high score is just due to the very high tempo of play and very high level of skill. Sure some mistakes were made but that was only because of the speed and pressure. I didn't see anything such as everybody standing around looking at the puck like you see the Leafs doing on most goals against.

The "experts" on Sportsnet said after the game that Colorado might want to make a goalie change. I disagree. I didn't see one soft goal. They got 6 on Hellebuyck. To score so much in such a tightly played game was incredible. It's a shame one of these teams is not going to make the second round. And Winnipeg got several glorious chances that never ended up as a shot on goal.

What i thought was crazy was hiwmthe jets often had a Dman on their hip when they scored but it was the wrong hip,or just a bit out of reach, etc. Scoring WHILE covered is awesome. Like Kyle Connor's second goal. Was surrounded by Avs, buried it and made them look silly. 😂
