This movie was a modern day Ford vs Ferrari, the racing in the movie was thrilling, it was awesome!!!

I wish more people were talking about this movie. It is an actual masterpiece. I don't care if that's an unpopular opinion. It was perfect. We even got a street racing scene (kinda) when Jaan ran from the police, which I appreciated SO much. I grew up on Need For Speed Hot Pursuit and that police chase scene really felt like it was put in for the people who grew up on those kinds of car games. I seriously loved this movie so much

The main edge I believe is that it’s based on a true story, rather than adapting a video game plot. It allows the film to be framed completely differently, while maintaining the trademark name of the franchise.
We have officially entered a new era with video game adaptations. The Last of Us was an unbelievable series and this film was brilliant

Niel Blomkamp has always been a good director but i feel ever since the Aliens film he was rumored to work on fell through his career hasn't been the same. With GT he is back in form. Despite a less than stellar screenplay his ability to make it work is commendable & the way he makes you feel like you are in these 250mph cars was breathtaking.
Yeah like there's no denying Neill's a master craftsman...but this is the first time since District 9 he's bringing all of his good storytelling instincts together. I agree, something about the Alien fallout really caused him to spiral.
THANK YOU for recognising gran turismo's brilliance :) i've never played the games but this movie means so much to me and has SO much to say about elitism, mentorship, the limits of human ambition, and the joy and freedom of driving/cars. everything you said about the crash scene was spot on, too. i can't get enough of this movie. the dynamic with david harbour + archie madekwe is just the cherry on top. everyone go see it rn!!!

I've always been a nervous driver, but I got a racing wheel (G27 I think it was called) almost a decade ago on my PS3, got pretty decent racing manual, enough for me to be comfortable driving automatic. Definitely one of the most rewarding feelings I've ever experienced playing games, really helped my confidence.
That is great to hear. You know.. these days many top professional race car drives practice the most dangerous courses in sims many times before driving the courses. It's a great way to ease into a stressful situation.
I was laughed at when I went to racing school at VIR when I said I had racing experience since GT2. And then proceeded to not only race in the rain there, but do extremely well. The stigma about sim racers is still around though. Gamers take your talents into the real world! You can do it!
I grew up playing the original Gran Turismo on the PS1. I got GT3 and a PS2 for my 10th birthday. I have a lot of good memories of this series. Fast forward to today, I play GT7 with the PSVR2 and the steering wheel setup. Never would have imagined we would get here in terms of immersion and realism Super stoked to see the film on Sunday. Glad its getting a lot of love! Great review!!

Im not the biggest racing gaming fan. I may play them like Gran Tursimo on a very rare occasion. I had no desire to see this movie but wanted your thoughts. Really really don't care I got spoiled. I wanted to know. Now I'm interested in seeing it

People have been sitting on Blomkamp while he worked on the newest film tech and created some of his own and it all lead to this. What an extraordinary film.This kind of product makes Ridley Scott look like a fool for snatching Alien back to repeat himself. Also, David Harbour is our most precious natural resource and needs to be protected at all costs.

As someone who never got into racing in any form and sucks at racing games, I still enjoyed this movie. It just felt like a solid, well rounded, film.
I'd beat without breaking a sweat, Underground 1,2 & asphalt and I can fly anything like Han solo

This movie definitely is one of the most underrated and overlooked movie of the year. Such a great inspirational story and as a gamer myself it’s really really nice to see such a feels good type of movie that isn’t ridiculous but grounded and human.

I loved the movie. I’m a Need for Speed kid for life but I think both franchises rule for different reasons. I think the films in the respective franchises are a perfect way to look at it. Need For Speed is a silly, fun, blast of a popcorn film. Gran Tourismo is a wish fulfillment epic story.

The trailer was horrible and made me want to wait until this came out on streaming and Dan Murrell’s review made me think maybe I should. And since I’m on a movie Season Pass, I got to see it on the largest screen at Alamo Drafthouse and this movie was amazing. I tested up a couple of times and gripped my seat and held my breath multiple times. This movie is worth your money. More than MI:7 pt1, Flash, IJ:5, and many other okay or crap movies that came out over summer (MI:7 was good, just not amazing).

I’m sorry, but I didn’t like the overuse of sweeping drone shots in Gran Turismo. I like the action. The races were really good with some of the drone. Shots were kind of nauseating for me.

Great video as usual! Just got back from Gran Turismo, and as someone who doesn't rly care about the game and never played it, this movie was still really sick and enjoyable. Even if it was a little predictable at some parts (which is a lot more forgivable since it is based on a true story so it's not like they could've changed many plot elements even if they wanted to)

Keyword is MOVIE. While i enjoy stuff like Detective Pikachu (though Pokémon is more than just a video game), Super Mario, it still hasn't quite nailed it i feel. I'm not talking about TV. Obviously TLOU has already perfected that and Arcane and such.

I just watched this movie and watching the review. I can’t wrap my head around your thought process. It’s as if you’ve taken everything the movie said as fact about elitist racing and sim racing. Shows a total misunderstanding of how the real world of GT racing works. You can’t just buy your way in. Having money helps, as in every sport, but that won’t make you fast. Just a lot of ignorant takes from someone who evidently does not watch motor racing outside of film and video games.
