'What The Folks' is a journey of how modern families are breaking stereotypes, overcoming generation gaps, and growing to love one another, despite having starkly different world views. The show encapsulates the familial struggles of Nikhil, a young man who is forced to live with his in-laws for a few weeks.
Episode 1:
Murphy’s law works on Nikhil, and everything he does from the moment he enters his in-laws' house, goes wrong. A huge blunder greatly upsets Prakash, his father-in-law. He is really sorry about it, but both of them are unable to have an honest conversation about it. Will they resolve their issues? Or will things only go downhill from here? Whatever the case, one thing is for sure - the giggles and chuckles won't stop through the episode!

I don't know why South Indians should get angry about this. After all, he has shown so realistically about how North Indians stereotype us South Indians. Very realistic, it's true that many of them still call us Madrasi and don't know Geography (Sorry to disappoint you but there are 5 different states in the South, u do have to spend some time in remembering that). Very realistic portrayal of the North Indian ignorance!

Well done guys! Amazing actors! And it's quite realistic. This series is not about promoting anything against the "elder society" but it just shows the most realistic of things that happen in day to day life with younger generation. Kids nowadays have become more genuine, and there's nothing wrong in that. Although there's no harm to be welcomed by a tikka, there's no harm if we don't practice it either. It just makes the situation a little less dramatic and fuss free, especially if the guest is tired af. Similarly, the habit of elders pouring the food continuously on the plate is kind of frustrating, and that's what happens in most of the families. No one can eat beyond their limit, and overdoing things, in order to show respect, actually becomes disrespectful inturn. If the person says he/she can't consume more, then that's it. It doesn't mean they are shy of anything. If they would feel the need to have more, they'll simply do. It's just that children nowadays are a little more genuine, practical and straight forward and parents should understand that and respect their opinion too wherever necessary. Otherwise, everyone knows they are obviously the most adorable human biengs ever born ;). Rest everything is a part of the series, enjoy as is. :)
