  • About the lion: The lion was 16 feet high, 26 feet long & weighed 1600 pounds. It took about 7 weeks to build/complete the lion. It was built/constructed in Oregon. When it was completed, it was loaded onto a flatbed, covered with a huge canvas tent and then hauled (in one big giant piece) 900 miles to Los Angeles. The trip took 23 hours. The drivers of the flatbed had to sign non-disclosure agreements that they would not tell anyone about the lion. In Los Angeles, the 11 puppeteers (men who made the legs move) rehearsed their movements over 40 times in a 2-week span. From _there,_ the lion was transported 6 hours away to the actual field in Arizona where the Super Bowl was going to be played. The puppeteers rehearsed for a week. Katy was lifted up to the lions' back, via a rolling staircase. When she finished the song, she got down off of the lion by sliding down a pole.
