  • Lost my wife in late 2019. She was struggling hard with depression and substance abuse. She loved this version of the song and we listened to it often together a lot before she passed. She was such a beautiful person who flickered between profound darkness and blazing starlight. I hope that somehow I will see a sunrise again with her when the darkness has passed.

  • 4 reasons why this song gave me the most chills today: 1. The first comment said it wasn't my first time and it wasn't. 2. First chorus when they went"... You into the dark..." was the exact moment my bedtime mode started and screen went monochrome. 3. "...Time for sleep is now..." sequence happened just as I read about a comment on that line. 4. Halsey.

She noticed it and has a hint of a smile. Then he looks at her with his overacting attitude (nothing I judge) and this makes it comedic, so she can't hold it and has to laugh :D

  • Nothing will be as personal for me as the original, but they took it seriously and respected the original whilst trying to offer something different and that's what every artist should be trying to do with these LAVs.

    • @@amirpalamar7133 fucken aye. rage against the machine is such a hard band to cover. due to the fucking energy, they bring. I've been in just about every metal bands mosh pit. Only one I've ever dropped nuts too. and it was instant too. survived the first song, halfway through the second i realized i couldn't handle it and bailed out by the end of the third song. absolutely fucking brutal. he fucking nailed it. one comment I read summed it up perfectly. he attacked that from the start. He didn't have to go that hard. but he did for us. 9/10 rage covers suck, cause people can't channel the rage needed to make those songs. Denzel fucking dug deep for that one.

    • LAV is an Aussie independent radio station's in-house live performance thing they did/probably still do live on air. Acts would do one cover and one original song. As far as I'm aware its always been amazing stripped down raw performances. And its always had a rep for taking it seriously. if you go back through the history there are so many amazing covers from bands you've never heard of taking a well-known song putting their own spin on it but still respecting the original. Bands usually had to put thought into it as well. like the radio hosts would make them give a really obscure hint to the cover song. That's what they would use to hype the act coming on the show. The artist just before they performed the songs would talk about why they chose that song imparticular. Most times it was a really personal connection to the song for the artist. For example, as far as I know, I could be wrong on this. No one has ever lip-synced for example. tripleJ (the radiostation) for the most part, some people debate it now. but they always had integrity and usually supported music genuinely. And totally agree the original was way more emotional, but credit where credit's due. These guys hit it out of the park.
