A very memorable pilot comment was when I was traveling from Jo’berg to JFK on an SAA 340. We stopped in Dakar in the middle of the night as you need to for fuel. Just before take-off the pilot said “Let’s get this big, beautiful beast airborne”. That plane is definitely ‘alive’ in a very unique way.

That was a huge engine Derating of the full Man ToGa Take-off to the Derated CLB Thrust. The older A340-300 with the little CFM's just from the A320CEO they needed ALL the thrust during Take-off and CLB. I am sure to resch cruising the older serie A340's would use the MCT Thrust setting otherwise you're climb rate with a full and heavy loaded plane would take enormous amount of time. I am curious how fast they can reach cruise at 40.000ft compared between the older and newer if you use only MCT Thrust in both during ascent. Nowedays the newer generation high bypass Turbofan engines are build to generate crazy amount of thrust however to preserve the engines with less maintenance and longer lifespan they will use less and less than older ones with smaller bypass ratio's.

@ahbenjamin28894 ай бұрын
The A340-300 is commonly called “The most underpowered plane” because of 2 reasons. First, it is heavier than a A330-300 and carries more passengers. Secondly, the A340-200/300 uses CFM 56-5C engines which is basically the same engines on the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.

2:10 That's why I am scared: Why is the plane drifting left and right? Because of winds? It scares the shit out of me, as I automatically think that the aircraft doesn't produce enough power to gain altitude (I know that's BS, however I am still scared every time I step into a plane)
@KeNaN522 жыл бұрын
Don't worry it was just adjudting to turbulence
@larissaa34652 жыл бұрын
Its the wind and some minor turbulence. Also the aircraft is climbing
@shriv552 жыл бұрын
That's totally normal. From a physics standpoint, if the plane can't produce enough power, it won't fall back down looking up. The nose will tip forward, and as the plane falls downward, it will gain speed and generate lift again, so the pilots will be able to land safely.

Great Footage Love The Trent 500 Powered A340 600
My favorite plane is definitely the a340-600 It is an amazing plane, i flew a bunch of times with the a340 I flew between Madrid to Los Angeles with Iberia it was a 12h flight 👌🏼
Wow that speed ‼️‼️‼️‼️ I miss flying so much 😢
I flew the A340 from Miami to Paris and it was a great flight. The service and food were tremendous.
That was most likely an A340-300 by Air France
@@larissaa3465 Yes. It was quite a few years ago before the 2008 financial crisis. Air France was terrific.
The best looking sub sonic aircraft of all time just beautiful, just looks like a proper plane, long, sleek, 4 engines, just awesome. So disappointed that they are being withdrawn from the major carriers..
Beautiful sounds.. sight too
Those engines .... wow.
Quite choppy winds during the initial climb?
They look and sound so powerful. Makes me thing they're going to destroy the wing at take off. Wow.
That climb performance definitely separates the -600 from the -300.
What a beautiful takeoff i really enjoy engine sounds , incredible
One of the nice and safest aircraft
The wings were flapping!!! ❤
Amazing the performance difference between the A346 and the A343.. This one took off like a rocket.. The A343 uses every inch of runway
Facts
I think the A345 would use less runway than this plane used
Beautiful sounding plane 😀
So happy for you that you got to fly currently the longest single decker jet in the world! 😉👍 For a plane of that size taking off with full power and how quick it took for that thing to get airborne, that’s some serious acceleration... I could only imagine the G-force you felt being pushed back in your seat!
I luckily got to fly the A346 multiple times in the years before the crisis. And the way the takeoff felt was amazing. It was the strongest I ever experienced. The A340-600 is way more powerful than the A340-300.
@@larissaa3465 The most powerful takeoff I felt was the one time I flew in the 777-300ER. I was pinned to the back of my seat during that takeoff like I could barely move! My head also went flying back during the engine spool up and I got a little bit of whiplash!
Very nice take off! Nice roar
beautiful shot, thanks a lot
My pleassure
Cool flight!
This is some serious Messerschmitt power.
Was going back to munich?
Amazing machinery. Great video.
And what time you take off
Nice video :-) that was really powerful take off that it overpowered the crosswind :-)
i love these engines so much
Great footage!
it is my favorite a340, thanks to these Trent 500 it has the right power, unlike the a340 with the cfm56
I agree, the A340-600 is very powerful. Even if that takeoff was 5 years ago, I still remember that amazing feeling!
Damn those trent 500s sound like trent 700s😶.
Those Rolls Royce trent 500 engine have the most beautiful sound, especially that spool down at 2:33
I agree!
planes normally do a derated takeoff- to reduce engine wear - the fadec computes the necessary thrust for take off based on several factors... and this thrust is always below the max thrust
it must have been windy, never seen one rock and move so much like that right after rotation!
It was windy indeed
Sounds like a Trent 700
This is about as FREE as one can be from everyday Life... High ABOVE it all looking below.. This Video is how I like my steak... WELL DONE!!
Thanks, most awsome comment ever!
Blergh overcooked steak is a crime
J'ai toujours adoré les Quadriréacteurs .......et Putain,,,,,on en voit de moins en moins ,,,,presque plus,,,,,cela me rend triste......Je veux voir des Quadriréacteurs dans le Ciel ! ! ! ! !
I definitely hear it
I would love to install these engines on an a340 200. It would make a 757 seem under powered!
Amazing departure
Love the RR engine sound !!!!!!
I’ve never flown on a better plane than the A340-600 LHRJFK with Virgin. The takeoffs were scary powerful!
Why do some say that the A340-300s are underpowered ? Is this true?
The A340-300 is commonly called “The most underpowered plane” because of 2 reasons. First, it is heavier than a A330-300 and carries more passengers. Secondly, the A340-200/300 uses CFM 56-5C engines which is basically the same engines on the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.
Sehr schönes Video ✈️❤️
This was epic
Totally!
I flew with it, awesome plane!
If you love the A340, What else is your favorite Airbus plane? Mine is A350, A330, A380, A320 and A300.
San Francisco - Frankfurt?
SFO-MUC
Where's the plane going?
To Munich
Those Trent 500 engines will be missed. RIP a340
Not RIP yet! LUFTHANSA will give 5 A340-600s a short comeback!
This is your pilot. We were just told they put the wrong fuel in our jet. We will try to make it back.
The true queen of Skies 👍
Awesome 😎
Beleza de decolagem.
They are heading towards Munich
Engine note is like magic.
Very cool
A340 600 releaced in 2004??
First flight in 2001. Entry into service 2002
FS ADVANCED SOUND!!!
Sounds like a 747 100 but more modern
2:10 That's why I am scared: Why is the plane drifting left and right? Because of winds? It scares the shit out of me, as I automatically think that the aircraft doesn't produce enough power to gain altitude (I know that's BS, however I am still scared every time I step into a plane)
Don't worry it was just adjudting to turbulence
Its the wind and some minor turbulence. Also the aircraft is climbing
That's totally normal. From a physics standpoint, if the plane can't produce enough power, it won't fall back down looking up. The nose will tip forward, and as the plane falls downward, it will gain speed and generate lift again, so the pilots will be able to land safely.
for take off it's always.....full power........
FULL SPEED AHEAD
Best Airbus Plane Ever!!!
Thats so true
@羅俊希 this Is airbus not Boeing
What a powerful Take off
Sounds like Trent 700 engines!
Everyone talking about how good the engines sound but they sound scary to me
No reason to be scared. They are very reliable and powerfull
Must of been fairly light to rotate before the parallels
Shame as the 340/600 was a great looking plane
It still is!
SFO to MUC on Nuremburg❤️
Way better than the -300
Like this take off reminds me of my December 17th 2005 CX831 JFK-HKG when it was operated by A340-600
