    • @@traviesoarcefan3063 Please don't compare Tim with EVH; they are as far apart, skill-wise, as the East is from the West. EVH was a virtuoso musician and guitarist that influenced countless guitarists and single-handedly, changed rock music. Tim just practices, a LOT, but has NO musical ability, whatsoever. If you want to hear a guy practicing, Tim is your guy.

    • @ezze7540 Sorry but you didn't read my comment correctly. I didn't compare anybody to anybody. What I was talking about was my personal enjoyment level at their live performances, nothing else. So relax, Eddie, Ace Frehley and Steve Jones will always be my heroes in this order. Three very different people and players. Long live Rock n Roll, be it dead or alive!!!

    • @@traviesoarcefan3063 Thanks for clarifying. Very rarely does a musician make a lasting cultural impact. As far as I am aware (for guitar) there was only Django Reinhardt, Lester William Polsfus, Jimi Hendrix, and Eddie Van Halen. Sure, it's debatable as to who plays better but, overall, the above guitarists were so novel and brought so much to the art of guitar, they left a lasting and indelible influence on the art-form. Tim Henson is just one of thousands of novelty acts.

"...The Clays, who have the very difficult job of translating beats into playable bass and drum parts." This is one of those cases where the music is made electronically first, and THEN they have to figure out how to actually play it with physical instruments and human hands. As a side note, the clip of Tim playing a section after explaining his difficulty in "figuring out how to even play it", is the most effort I've seen him put into playing. I mean; he is incredibly gifted. I understand that he often just makes it LOOK effortless. He is always doing work. But it looks like even HE struggles a bit on this part.

Polyphia but also other bands like animals as leaders) comment sections get spammed with "omg x is so underrated". The big point of these bands is that they are perfectly well crafted and oiled machines in which each component brings something to the table and everybody who has been listening to music for more than one day can hear the styles and the inputs of each great musician. I do not understand why you cannot give praise to one of them without belittleling the other ones. I do not like this approach, what should i infer from a "drummer is underrated" comment, that the bassist and the guitarist are ass?

  • Can we talk about how the video puts the icing on the cake, making this a masterpiece? The comfortable body language of them jamming in the godly mansion with no focus on anything but the feeling in the room is transcending. I’m no musician, I’m a videographer, but I know this is the same feeling you get when everything goes right as music is being played in the room

    • _"Can we talk about how the video puts the icing on the cake, making this a masterpiece?"_ In principle, sure, I'd love to, but I got a lump in my throat and the talking part is a bit hard. Can we just agree that you talk and I nod? ;) You're doing a great job :) Okay, forget it I'll talk. Yes, exactly. And I'm not a videographer but a musician and physics enthusiast and I love to dance and when I look at a video like this one I can't help but see all of it come together. To me it's all music, the visuals, the passion, the location, the angles, the clothing changes and choices. This is what my mind does when I sit in the sun and see a butterfly hopping from flower to flower, so I might be a bit weird, but really, rhythm is everywhere, from the light waves to the neutrons and the moving air and everything is music in that sense and we all dance to the tunes of the universe.

    • Yes music satisfies a language most didn’t know how to speak! However all the senses play into our experiences and memories are tied to that so that’s why these things make us have frisson. I think visually the videographers knew how to clip their music well to fit their following and also how to portray maybe time signatures or dynamic ques to music vs Visual cues 🎉 I was missing the instrumental genres in main stream but now this is pop??

    • So true, the layers - the planning that must have gone into this - the synergy and attention to detai, the bass! the drummer! Who was the architect? It has the feeling of the full Team and there is power in that - regardless of who defined or created the initial riffs

      @al3xj@al3xj Жыл бұрын
    • @@jjnix2 It does not sound weird at all tbh, any musician knows that no matter how talented you are the beat is the main soul of the song. The tighter your drummer plays, the tighter the band sounds. And Clay is always spot on, he's so good that even non-musicians highlight the drums constantly.

  • The best part about polyphia is their lack of concern for "convention." They take the best parts of some aspects of genres (like the trap bass and percussion) and fuse it with very technical guitar, and then mix in break downs and smooth bridge transitions. Tim is a genius, Scottie is a genius. These guys have a distinct sound that no one else quite has. Love this band from the moment I heard the first song.
