After 30 years of broadcast and streaming, dealing with genres coming and going (and wayyyyy too many coming, and not enough going, lol) Pop is everything that originated in the US and UK right around the 50's. Popular music, is whatever is just that - popular from just about any genre - but is usually considered mainstream non-niche genres. Not like there's never been a break-out though. What I find interesting though... is that a lot of people consider 'Pop' as mostly 80's / early 90's - ish rock if you ask them to list titles. Regardless of age. It's kinda funny really.

Elvis was considered pop and he is the most respected singer in history. I never considered Jackson on that level because his best album was Quincy Jones's music and his famous Moonwalk Cab Calloway allowed him to take the credit for it. But he was the king of pop

No the Grammys are truly a joke for she deserved to not only be nominated but to win the Grammy for new star.
I thought she was overlooked at first and was really upset, but then I found out that her album came out too late in the Grammy calendar to be considered for the 2018 show. Their year ended September 30th
