  • just a FYI this has been played at the clubs in America since 2017 when it was released. you guys keep speaking like bts are new they're new to YOU. but they been big here since 2016. they sell out stadiums here that some of American artists can't even sell out. bts is not new they're ten year old group also the "they won't get played here cause we don't know what they're saying " is wrong cause Spanish music is big here and a lot of people don't know Spanish the same is happening for Korean and been happening for years already yall are just late.

I recommend you check their latest live performance of Mic Drop from their Yet To Come Busan concert last October where it was attended by 70k live audience and was livestreamed by over 50M worldwide causing the apps to crash from time to time. You will feel the same energy. 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯

  • 71 year old BTS Army here. This song is played at NBA games and U.S. Football games. Suga, one of the 3 rappers, took his name from his favorite position in basketball growing up: Shooting Guard - pronounced like "Shoo Ga". He always is seated courtside at the NBA games he has attended and was gifted the unreleased game worn shoes from Stephen Curry after the game. Suga has been named by the NBA as their first ever "NBA Global Ambassador". They are not required to learn English. It is taught as an elective course. They all speak a little English and RM their leader speaks fluent English. Haters have been trying to take down BTS since they debuted in 2013 and it continues to this day. The largest percentage of BTS Army in their 30s and up and some are in their 80s and 90s. I am 71. 💜

  • English was not my first language (it's actually my 3rd), and I grew up listening to afrobeats and reggaeton, so getting into kpop wasn't a problem for me. I'm used to not understanding what I hear and reading subtitles. That is common is many places around the world. But for you, it might take some getting used to. That's perfectly okay. Keep your mind open, and sometimes just enjoy the beat and flow.

  • Not to be annoying, but you do know that English is not the most spoken language in the world? It's third after Chinese and Spanish. The rest of the world ( non English speaking) seems to be able to enjoy English songs and read subtitles. Lyrics are important in almost every BTS song. Maybe watch the video first for the visuals and choreography, and read the lyrics afterwards. I know it's a lot and the raps a specially can be very fast. Don't get me wrong, I like your reactions. Keep it up! 💜💜💜

    • @stacybenderdubiel5286 I know, English is my thirth language. I was just trying to point out that it is not that difficult to make a little effort, seeing that a lot of people who don't speak English can enjoy English songs. So it can be done the other way around. Plus the 1.4 billion you mentioned is, in my opinion, a little exaggerated. I have met a lot of people who have studied English at school and are probably included in said number, whose English skills were very poor, and would still need a dictionary to understand the lyrics of a lot of English songs. Lots of love.💜

    • @@stacybenderdubiel5286Even for native speakers, understanding the words of a song when you hear them is very different from understanding the song itself. Just look at how many people play Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” at religious events in the U.S. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 Proof positive they haven’t really LISTENED to it. Reading the lyrics helps one focus more on what they actually say.

Being as popular as they are, they def get lots of hate but love too. I think they may be judged too quickly by a lot of people before people know what they do and what they have done. Even if you dont like their music, they deserve respect.

Cole, Snoop Dogg, Charlie Puth, Halsey, Becky G, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Jenny Blanco, Jason Derulo, Warren G, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, plus more. I guess they don't care what language they speak. 💜

    @alicesworld1@alicesworld19 ай бұрын
  • Thanks for reacting! 😊 The language question is a fair one. Most of their songs are a mix of Korean and English. They do have some songs that are also in Japanese, but it usually states it in the title. BTS also has three fully English songs (Dynamite, Butter, and Permission to Dance). Those three are more pop-centered. They were released during the Covid years to bring a little joy to ARMY, so the lyrics are on the lighter side. RM (the group leader) is the only one of the BTS members that claims to be fluent in English, but the rest know a decent amount. They're just not always comfortable communicating in it. I've been listening to them for almost 2 years and I haven't really focused on the lyrics, with a few exceptions, until the last few months. An option, if you wish to try it, would be to watch the video once through, focusing the comments on the visuals and music, then watch it again with the cc on and focus the comments on the lyrics? What you do now is fine too as long as you aren't feeling overwhelmed. We definitely want you to enjoy your BTS journey! For some songs, you might want to watch explanation videos. The ones that come to mind are Spring Day, Baepsae, and Spine Breaker. They all have cultural references that having a little extra explanation is helpful. You know about one of Jungkook's solos (your reaction to the funeral scene was epic!😂). Each member (RM 8:49 , Suga 2:18 , Jin 10:45 , J-Hope 1:55 , Jimin 6:11 , Jungkook 4:22 , and V 2:40 ) has several solos and collaborations. Suga's solo work is mostly under the name Agust D. He has a trilogy Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala, which are quite deep, but the quick and dirty is it shows his personal struggles and growth over the years. Jimin was a part of Angel pt1 from the Fast 10 soundtrack. J-Hope had J Cole feature in a song with him. Charlie Puth sang Left and Right with Jungkook. As a group they've collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion, Halsey, Nicki Minaj, Coldplay, amongst others. The vocal line (Jimin, Jungkook,Jin, and V) even are in a Bad Bunny song with Snoop Dogg (I prefer the official visualizer version). Their songs fall under several different music styles, but their earlier stuff leans towards hip-hop. I hope you enjoy discovering more of their music. 💜

They started off small back in 2013 but by 2016 they were already dominating music charts around the world and gaining recognition in the western music industry. They were already breaking records that were set by some of the most popular artist in the western industry, breaking records that they themselves set( previously their song 'Boy with luv' broke the record for the most viewed song in 24 hours in 2019 and in 2020 they broke that record with their song 'Dynamite' which gained 101,100,000 views in 24 hours), selling out stadiums that other huge artists couldn't sell out and gaining the biggest fandom in the world, and that aint even their peak. Right now they're probably taking a break bec of the whole military thing but when they get back tog shi aint finna be the same

Women do out number men in the fandom, but male ARMY is also very large, estimated 40% and probably bigger now because of rap line's solo work that has bought more ppl into BTS. Also, BTS are professional dancers, this isn't your light boyband choreography (they do that once in a while based on the song but they have a lot of difficult stuff). They've spent years cultivating their skills in both dancing and singing, working 12/14 hours a day to perfect them. I'm sure if you all get a chance to watch the 2019 MAMA award show performance, I'm sure will will agree you've never seen anything like that before, and def not here in the US. Happy to see you all enjoying them, hope to see more.

  • I love your guy's reactions - Just a suggestion meant in total kindness and respect - The reverb and echo on your videos can be quite over-powering and sometimes hurts the ears. The empty, wide open space you are recording in causes distortion in the listener's receiver. The volume we have to listen to it to in order to understand what you are saying gets, in parts, too loud and unbalanced and then blasts us out unexpectedly here and there. Especially when your voices get excited. You could likely help that by recording in a smaller room with sound absorbing materials, drapery, things in the space to absorb the reverb, or sound proofing even just one wall you are in now - it would make your vocal so much more clearer and crisp and not like you are yelling in a cave. You guys have the talent for a successful channel! Keep it up.

  • Fun reaction! The struggles that BTS faced was that they came from a small company in Korea, at a time when three large, rich Korean companies absolutely DOMINATED the Korean music scene - those three companies had the wallets to put Korean media in their pockets, debuting many new groups every year and practically ensuring their success because they could count on airplay and media hype....artists from small companies like BTS had to fight an uphill battle from the get-go and very few made enough money quickly enough to survive to release even a second album BTS faced a lot of hate in Korea, & fought against ridicule for their group name, their members being called 'too ugly' to be Korean music idols, their rappers were called 'girls' for wearing makeup for performances and 'sell outs' for leaving underground hip-hop for the wider KPop music scene Even after BTS fought their way to the top in Korea with their music & dance talent, they went on to face anti-Asian bigotry and xenophobia as their popularity spread globally, because they sing in Korean and only one member speaks English True music lovers know that music knows no boundaries, a great song is great due to melody, beat, and message - no matter what language it's in

  • *AVOID DARN AUTO GENERATED CAPTIONS, almost every MV of theirs after about 2015 has available english subtitles.* Also majority of their songs are mixture of both korean and english because most commonly used words in english are just what they are, there no translating them in most languages but its also in order to reach their global fans and anyone that comes across their music etc; so you can semi understand what their trying to convey and/or say in their songs. Of course some the Korean pronunciations they ave will sound very similar in english but much of what they’re saying is not what you think their saying 😅.

  • This is my first time watching you react to BTS and I hope that you will keep reacting. This is a rabbit hole you will definitely not regret going down. I had never heard of K-pop until BTS nor watched Korean movies or series. Though not long after, it became second nature for me to not notice that I was reading the subtitles. BTS has many different genres and their songs have deep meaning and even stories almost like a short film. Please check out Not Today, ON, Fire, I Need You, BTS guide by Taylor and there is a video of their hardships as well. I can’t wait to see what you react to next. Ty for reacting!

These songs are a little outdated but great nonetheless 😂😂😂 *Hope you get to check out the group more and individually!* Btw they've collabed with Latto, Nicki Minaj, Megan thee Stallion, Desiigner, Anderson Paak, Erykah Badu, Wale, Lil Nas X, Snoop Dogg, Juice Wrld, J.Cole, Pharrell and a bunch of more artists and rappers.

It was his first time listening to another language and that helped until he got used to it. Three of them are members of the Korean Copyright association and the main producer has won awards producing outside of BTS so dont worry, the lyrics are good 😂😅

  • 😂 There are quite a few bts songs that have been played mainstream in america for years now. You guys probably hadn’t noticed it. I recommend listening to the songs first in a lyric video form that has all the english translations in it, then watch the music videos for visuals of the songs and then live performances to see how they perform it on stage. Once you start seeing things from kpop groups like BTS, you pretty much fall down a rabbit hole of content. Because they all individually have multiple talents, have solo albums and songs, they have youtube channels where they showcase their own personal variety shows, interviews, behind the scenes of many things, vlogs, etc…There is way more to them than you think. And just give a little more tidbit of info, they are known to write and produce their own music. Suga (AKA Min Yoongi) is known to have not only wrote and produce songs for the group and himself, but also for many other artists. RM (Kim Namjoon who is also the leader) is also known to write and produce songs for the group and himself. And BTS been at it for 10yrs now and still going. But right now soon to be 3 out of 7 members are either serving in the military or about to enlist soon to serve. So right now, the ones who are not enlisted yet are doing solo projects and their own things at the moment until all of them are done serving. I think it’s estimated they all will be done by 2025 or so.

Me personally their English songs aren’t my favourite so far since they aren’t the one writing those they are not that deep 🤷🏽‍♀️ I think they express themselves better in their native language korean i don’t mind reading the lyrics while watching BTS’s MVs . I have been doing it since 2015 but I get why you guys aren’t used to it yet. So just be you if you guys only want to focus on the music and the dance that’s ok. But a lot of people get into BTS because of their lyrics so for a lot of Armies ( BTS ‘s fans) lyrics matter. I did enjoy the reaction, you’re nice keep going 💜

Ofc doing reactions is different because BTS lyrics are usually speaking on heavier topics and the fandom like to hear what reactors think of the lyric. It doesn't take long to adjust though. :) I highly recommend their Cypher pt 3 live from Busan with English subs.

After a couple of years they got me though and I am now used to reading subtitles and watching the video. Actually I remembered you commented on my comment from the last video about your favorite genre. Try the rap line. Try Agust D - daechwita or Hageum. For RM try Still Life with anderson paak and J-Hope try Arson. Trust me, they are SPITTING real stuff but again, yall are gonna have to concentrate on reading those subtitles.

    • Reason why we don’t watch it first is because it takes away from the first experience from seeing it. There isn’t an issue with subtitles but just a different experience we aren’t used to lol. A show with subs I understand but music is different because words are different when sang. Really do like the song but we just getting used to it is all and want to be 100% transparent on what our thoughts/feelings on the song, video, choreo etc. Just something new is all lol. Thank you tho your comments helps us so much. Appreciate your support.
