Love Andrea Botchelli's comment to David about being young, beautiful etc. When David Foster said how do you know. Just because Andrea cannot visually see, doesn't mean he cannot hear reactions, he would also be very attuned to voices and how they correlate with age. The styles and how one delivers a song too depends on age - something that you would love to belt out when you are young, often older singers will find their own subtleties, instead of singing a popular song and copying who made it famous with the extra vocal gymnastics. I'm often blown away by older singers who may cover a hit that they knew when they were a kid and add their style and realize it's not about adding their excessive multi-note improvisations, but rather hearing the lyrics and melodies and expressing what they hear from the song. I think of some of the songs Eric Clapton has covered from the blues - sticks to the tune but true to his style. A younger singer that comes to mind is Amy Winehouse for some reason. Some of her renditions of older songs she could do this while keeping the base tune and message at the forefront. Maybe it's just an American thing to belt out every song - idk.

Katharine did a beautiful young lady who sings like an angel. I have no ideas why the judges didn't like her version of Whitney Houston's sing. Perhaps because they didn't know it was David Foster who had actually suggested the changes!
