Din Thomas was a welcomed change, the new trio was definitely the better one.
And I'm sure that Nick is a good buddy of Dana's but he's not really a well known person like Din is so not sure why I cared about him appearing on the show in the first place.
Fight Island - Bisping, Serra & Dana is hilarious. I think Bisping should take Din's place. I love Din Thomas. But Bisping is just a bit funnier.

Tooth was lucky to be on the show the guy is obviously deluded, Serra is a world class fighter and a super humble guy.
i don't see how serra even could take that seriously lol from what i saw nick was kidding, it seemed like he was giving matt props. simply being ironic. but the texts afterwards was probably where it went sour. he should have just asked to roll off the air.

Serra? World class? Not even remotely close. Beating George's was a flook. Backed up by the rematch. Plus thay era of mma was rather weak. Prime serra would get destroyed by every top 10 welterweight/lightweight fighters from the ufc. Awesome personality and entertaining but to label him world class is really ridiculous mate

I just recently found their show. I had absolutely no idea how funny Mat was. He had me laughing my ass off. The haunted house was historical. Always had respect as a MMA fan. Would love to have a beer with him.

I just signed up for Jui Jujitsu bc of Matt Serra & it just seems like common sense to me
If Nick had played his cards right, he could have learned a ton of new bjj techniques from a master and personal coach who was right there with him.
He would of seen Matt go back seek out and help fighters if he saw they missed something, and occasionally teach classes too. Always liked Matt, top guy.
And you can see all over the show how much serra love teaching. Taking the losing side in a fight to give tips on leg locks getting paid only the satisfaction from teaching.

Serra dedicated his life to Jiu Jitus and became one of the best in the world, for someone who is for all intents and purposes a novice to not only challenge, but imply he has a chance in beating Serra, this is great disrespect.
I think that’s the problem. You think 3 years and that seems like a long time. But Serra has been a black belt for now like 20 years. He lives and breathes Ju-jitsu. Its quite ridiculous. And even as the host said “do people underestimate you because you’re a goofy guy”. Matt is a nice nice guy, and I think Nick wanted to play alpha dog
@@SL-fy7dh As far as i remember (and it has been some timesince I watched season 1) The Tooth was kind of pushing for the "friendly asshole bully" with Matt, like he assumed Matt was gonna be there to be the laughing stock on some of the bits of the show, then he got cocky in a plane scene when he actually implied he would roll with Matt but in a "lets see how that goes tough guy" way, (again been a while) All Matt did was being down to earth and act like he was like 100 times better than the tooth at BJJ which he is, I think tooh was expecting a bit of a competition not to be used as a dummy for a class, he probably thought Serra was disrespecting him... XDDDDD

It’s poor form and generally considered disrespectful to call out higher belts and instructors. Tooth could’ve just asked to roll but he more or less challenged Matt. Matt handled it very nicely and even gave him more respect than most would. There are other videos on KZhead of students calling out instructors and getting knocked unconscious, although after egging them on with public humiliation tactics and knocked out in private.
I called out a black belt in karate once to spar when I was younger because I thought I was tough and he kicked me in the stomach so fast and hard I didn't even see it coming and it knocked the wind out of me badly. Learned my lesson pretty fast. There are levels.

What sucks is how many (including myself) would've loved to travel around with a fun loving guy that also happens to be a master of his craft AND likes to teach? He should've been trying to be humble and work out after the days shooting. He could've learned so much. I would've been getting tapped out left and right while soaking up knowledge.

Matt Serra, I have been a huge fan of yours since TUF season 4. I was so happy when you won and got the title. I wish I could have a beer with you. Din, Dana, and you are hilarious. I have a 2 year old son. That loves watching your old fights (I know some people don’t agree with a 2 year old watching mma but screw them). I know it sounds weird but he loves to do leg locks and grapple. I live in Vegas so if you and the guys ever need any help with anything (highly doubt you ever will) I’d love to do what I can to help and my son would go nuts to meet you. You always say I’m a husband and father which makes me respect you even more than I did before because I’m a family man too and you are so humbled about your life. Thanks for all the laughs. Love you guys.
No need for 23mins. The reason is because tooth kept challenging Serra to a grappling match and a few episodes later they grappled and Serra was man handling him and Tooth got so upset off camera he said I can not let this air and it did anyway so he left.

Matt & Din were a better pairing anyway, could tell they had genuine history & chemistry together and they at least have been in the cage together. Nick seemed like that annoying mate Dana gave a shot too merely because he felt sorry for him. Always liked Matt, if he saw something a fighter missed he would make a point of seeking them out and helping them to rectify it and he taught the odd MMA class outside of his own school. Seems like a top genuine guy and you can tell he loves the sport.
I just watched the Alaska episode and it was literally a 20 sec segment of them looking like they're play fighting and "the tooth" was wearing a shirt that said "Vancouver". I mean unless I missed something
