imagine how good he is now at age 18
+Amir_So_Random Time This happened in 2004 so he's actually 23 now! Just think!
+Amir_So_Random Time For his sake, I hope he's better. How could he not be? This video made him seem like he just picked up the damn thing.
^^Is that jealousy I smell?^^
what about now lol
he plays so way,, really amazed ,, i am now 14 and i started to play the bassoon from 10,, he's tone is just beautiful
damn so ur 24 now? youtube rlly crazy like that. You still play?? so many unanswered questions
@@Spencer-vq7se ikrr
I'm in 9th grade now, and have been playing bassoon since 6th grade. This kid has beautiful tone, and probably plays better than I do. Amazing talent, he has a future in music ahead of him!
Yes, that kid plays quite well - beautifully, actually. But there's nothing saying that you can't play every bit as well as he does, if you set your mind to it. I've heard YOU crank out some pretty awesome songs during practice, and the more you play, the better you'll get, especially with the extra lessons you're taking. :)
Which Vivaldi concert is this? RV? Which
When your mom follows your activities on youtube -.-
Armando Eleazar this is a Concert in Mi minor (E minor), but this boy is not playing the full Concert, only the second and third movement. I am learning to play it too, I am 9th grade and I think that this is very soulful and emotional piece (Vivaldi is an amazing composer, all of his works make me motivated..) and this kid plays very well (Eh from 2009, now he is not a kid yet) Well done! :)
Armando Eleazar Bassoon Concerto in E minor RV484
pretty sure the instrument is as tall as he is
I’m so tiny that I can’t even reach the keys with the thumb rest
I started playing at 12 and I can confirm it was as tall or taller than me
4ft 8in
@@crypticb5678 when I started I had the crutch almost all the way out to play lol
It’s really sad a lot of people don’t even know what bassoons are
Yes everyday people ask me what is that
Only 2 years playing such a difficult instrument. He's very good. I wish I had his talent. I had no pitch so was unable to play a wind instrument.
Allen Miller True
Now everybody knows the bassoon is not a brass instrument. Thank you. 😍
All the people saying how many times he messed up is ridiculous, he did an amazing job! I bet half of you can’t even play bassoon, it’s not an easy instrument to play. Hopefully he still plays because he would be sooooo good!.
He’s 23 now, if he still plays he’d be amazing.
No 23
Where is the kid? Nerede?
he's @jperl on youtube and instagram and does crazy vfx to go with his music
He no longer plays but works as a plumber
I am interested in learning the bassoon. I'm no musical expert but he sounds wonderful to me, and after only two years of learning to play? Amazing!!
Locktwiste72 As a bassoon player I can tell you that while the double Reed and thumb work can be hard, learning the bassoon is much easier than people make it out to be. However, taking lessons from a teacher (one that actually plays bassoon, not your band or orchestra director) is essential, because the double Reed is so easy to learn wrong.
It was really easy for me. You just have to make sure you got good reeds (handmade are best) and have a no-playing-around basson teacher really helped. If you are in school get a private lesson teacher because the band teachers don't help as much.Private lessons can get expensive and so can reeds but that will make a difference.
I agree with these guys, it's not hard to play or learn but the problem is that most teachers dont know how to play so you need to get private lessons. My music teacher has no Idea how to play the bassoon and doesn't even know the fingerings
this guy played better than the seniors in the all state band this year...
I love how he plays it
His technique is fine for his age - he will progress wonderfully.
I wonder if he makes his own reeds.
100% probability.
He's like a Mozart on bassoon. Gifted from an early age, and will produce many great things.
As a bassoonist myself, im pretty impressed
I'm also 12, are playing the bassoon and begun when I was 10!!!!!!:-o:-D
Magnus Kongsmo Karlsen Have you played in any orchestras or concert bands yet?
bluedragonfire yes I do! I'm 14 now, and I've played in a symphony orchestra and I play in two concert bands
i played bari sax in 4th grade
well now your eighteen. i started this year. and im 16
Ultizard3904 I started three years ago. I’m 15 now.
Wow, fantastic.... im 17 and also from Hawaii went to Moanalua high school played for 6 years and at 6 years still found it difficult (phrasing) but you, 2 years! I am thoroughly impressed! Please do the world a favor and keep playing. ~a fellow bassoonist
My good friend robert plays the bassoon and i plag the baritone saxophone and we started an obscure instruments club
I don’t wanna seem rude, but the baritone saxophone is one of the four most popular saxophones...
ANGLE how is that being rude
8
But do you have a chalumeau player? Or a Serpent? Cornetto? My group does
@Novacaine The bassoon and baritone sax are common instruments; not obscure.
What a fantastic present for your mother!!! I need to congratulated both of you, you for playing the instrument so well and your mum for producing a talented and fantastic musician
It just brings joy to my heart to see such young talent. Excellent performance.
I say: Wow, wow, wow. The boy play beautiful!!
Very very talented! Gorgeous interpretation!
Most kids are riding their bikes, playing sports, on Tik Tok, or hanging out with their friends, he's making history
Stick with it kid. Very nicely done.
Bravo!!Bravo!!ce garçon est formidable, mes compliments!!!!
Nice to see a youngster from my state excelling in classical music!
So much talent, such a nice sound took me a year to even sound like that and I’m 14
keep going kid!!!! that was awesome!!!! you are going to be worth gold someday!!!
Amazing.....and great pitch too!
His tone is amazing!!!
FANTASTIC job! Great video keep it up!
Delightful and impressive. Bravo
I think if i would have heard him play the first movement i would have thrown my bassoon out the window. haha. But great job keep it up! Great tone!!
Woow! Super amazing! 👌🏻😍
congratulations, this boy is an example, i want to see my son playing in a few years like him
Very nicely played!!! This is the talented one!
Bassoon is a difficult instrument to play and this boy really has some talent at playing one of the worlds most difficult instruments in the world!
Its mostly having a consistent and controlled tone thats really hard
I agree, this is absolutely amazing! Keep doing whatever you're doing with this kid, or better!
Our school orchestra did this son for our end o the year concert and it was absolutely amazing
Wowww...Amazing!!
Am I the only one who’s dying about the clarinet siting on it’s bell behind him
Evelyn Miranda it’s on a stand
😂
Very Nice Sound !
..... Fantastic Talent, Poise and Musicality......The future of the Bassoon is in good hands.
Beautiful work! It's also harder to play standing up (like most people do for a concerto) than it is sitting down like orchestral players do. The weight of the instrument is distributed very differently and if you haven't practiced a LOT in the new position, it can throw you off. Doesn't seem to here, though!

he’s got a neck strap and most likely a palm grip
Keeping good embouchure standing up is hard
Very sweet
Great job!!..
Great job!
Wonderful!
Meus parabens, muito bem tocado por alguem de tao pouca idade Abracos...
Impressive rendition!
Im 12 and a bassoonist, I just starting playing in the beginning of sixth grade... Your such an inspiration, maybe one day I'll play as good as you :)
bassoons are cool. good job!
Congrats, I hope you are a great bassoon player 👏🎉
Well done! You have a very bright future!
Very nice playing! Phil Gottling's a great teacher - I took lessons from him at the University of Texas 25 years ago!
AAAAAA I played this last year when I was 12 Aswell, he did great, hope he still plays
I play bassoon too because it's awesome!
That was a great performance, love it,2nd mov was very touching and the 3rd was great too ,i'm glad to see so young instrumentist with such great skill,i play the basoon for 5 years but i think that this kid will surpace me any minute nuw:)),anyway, great performance,;)thumbs up.
That was my first solo concerto when I was 16. Mans did it earlier
What is most crazy to me is how he can hold that thing up! As a bassoonist myself, (still new to it, not super good if I’m being honest) I can barely hold it up sitting! Can’t imagine what it must be like standing. Super impressive! The tone of the notes are very even and the tonguing is really smooth!
Jolivet! The man has good taste and he plays so calm and eloquently on a piece with notoriously awkward fingerings for a Bassoonist, very nice
when I was that age I don't play that yet this boy is amazing
hey this guy is awesome and I haven't got my bassoon yet and I'm m 11 he's really good
Wow! Rimango allibito! *-* Complimenti ai genitori e al maestro! :D Bravo!
Bravo!
How adorable ...
Its really inspiring and talented kid. My son has started doing Basoon resently and taking his grade 1. He was inspired by this video thanks for sharing and wish bloom your talent world wide!!
bet, you can't even spell...
ok tea sis You do realize you've replied to a six year old comment, right?
Our seventh grade program is taking us to a new level. We are playing the Sorcerers Apprentice
Bravissimo continua cosi presto sentiremo parlare di te
He is plays the basoon he is very good
Wonderfull
That ensures he plays it with the best upright upright spinal posture!❤
lol, just came here cuz behind my window there is this musical house, where random people, with random instruments, and random amount of talent come every day to play their masterpieces all day long. 1 time even my country's 90s techno star came and it was actually epic to listen to.. Anyways.. i just wanted to check if i guessed correctly if the instrument playing today was a badly played bassoon, and so far it seems like it lol
Wow! Cool! I think this has been pointed out already, but to be that young and play that in tune on a bassoon, Bravo! Kids got a great ear. Great student and most definitely a great teacher.
Which Vivaldi concert is this? RV? Which
When I play bassoon I'm so good with my teachers then at competition I'm trasshh
Sorry to break it to you, but your teachers be going easy on ya... I can relate.
@@fallisolation9405 i play the flute and can totally agree
@@adelinepenguin5365 My teacher: Wow you're fantastic! The Judges: please leave, we'll contact you about your participation award.
have to mortgage the house in order to purchase that bassoon
I play bassoon too, but I'm 10 years old and I will have my 2nd concert on April 22.
Bravo.
Thank you James I’m 60 so enjoyed your music . Perhaps you will become a Martin Frost in your time. ! Play it better play it with style. Your mum is proud 🇦🇺👍
im 12 and i play bassoon as well wow i could never play that well in two years
i play bari sax
the bari is pretty cool too if i had to choose another woodwind to play it'd be the bari.
+Reeve Coble I play bassoon, clarinet, flute, and alto sax :) I'm hoping to pick up a french horn for christmas and I also want an oboe to learn on XD. I want to be a high school band director when I get older.
+Brainsicles If you learn a lot of instruments you will be an awesome band director. Your double reeds will be so happy to have someone who understands them, haha.
Bassoonify Yeah. Lol my band director was like "Um yeah I don't know about that" when I asked if he had any reed making tips.
Wonderfully played. Did he have any musical training or play any instruments before starting to play the bassoon?
@bobperlman Your son is a truly gifted young man. I'm 16, and I am a bassoonist as well. I can tell you from experience and hearing other people play that it is rare to find young teens able to play with such good tone. The bassoon has such awkward fingerings, and is a difficult instrument. Tell him to stick with it, being a good bassoonist opens up so many doors considering the rarity of good bassoonists.
Nice work kid!!!
I play the bassoon too and I'm from Honolulu Hawaii too
B&E Factory is there a big double reed scene in Hawaii?
I hope he's a professional bassoon player by now.❤
I started to learn bassoon when I was 10, when I’m even not as tall as the bassoon but quit after 5 years... never gonna be at this level :(
Don't say that😢
child prodigy, i really hope he is still playing, i can't find anything on the internet of where he is now...
This 12 year old has better tone than I do!
My bassoonist brotha over here
Who is watching this in quarantine because i got this from my teacher
Lmao I was searching around for prodigy’s cause I was comparing myself to them. Can confirm. I think I’m one😂
I'm impressed of the level this kid is playing at, but let's think about this for a moment. How many kids his age are genuinely this determined to do something? Not many would be the most probable answer. The odds of him being forced to practice and have lessons are quite high, especially if this kid is coming from a family where this sequence basically happened. "Mum, a bassoon isn't a brasswind instrument." "Yes it is." "Buy me one and I'll prove it." I always find myself feeling bad for these prodigious kids, just because the odds of the instrument they play being forced upon them is much higher than magically being able to play.
Solo prodijio y talento.
WOW, IT'S MOTHER'S DAY TODAY
He decides the tempo from the outset The conductor is to follow his pace, not vice versa Fine tone, seamlessly supported And from memory
Nice! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Bravo sarei curioso adesso in quale orchestra sei... Bravissimo
He’s playing better than me when I was his age
I have a looooooonnnnnnnnggggggg ways to go before I'm this good. Sadly, I'm not one for doing scales and such but I'm going to have to if I want to do that good by the time I reach two years(I'm at half a year)!
